MAN WITH BRAIN INJURY WAS FORCED TO GIVE UP HIS DOG

2/13/13  MAN WITH BRAIN INJURY WAS FORCED TO GIVE UP HIS DOG. AFTER RECEIVING THIS LETTER FROM MAGGIE AND SHARING THIS STORY WE FOUND HELP FOR HARLEY WITHIN 1 DAY…**********
GINA..
I work with adults with traumatic brain injuries. One of my clients, Brian, is being strong-armed into giving up his dog. He lives in a residential program who allowed him to have this dog and now has changed their mind. Due to his injury, if he does not comply with the program there will be much trouble for him, including losing his place to live and the therapies that he requires to continue to heal.

He is very concerned that Harley will somehow end up mistreated, used for fighting or bait or some other bad situation. Brian does not have the means to properly find someone trustworthy.

This man has lost so much and now he is losing his companion in an unfair situation he has no say in. I want to be able to help him with some reassurance. For Brian to feel Harley will have an good chance to find the right home and be loved, as he deserves to be. I am looking for someone to help us.

He is about 13 months, a mastiff-pit, about 80 pounds, neutered and up to date on shots. Housebroken, never crated and likes to chew on things. He is supposed to be a goofy lover type, though I have not met him.

Any help, or direction, you could give us would mean so much.

Thank you,

Maggie

Good morning Gina.
Thank you for forwarding the information.
Last night we found a place to take Harley, thanks to you. He will be leaving Brian’s this weekend, he asked me to send a heartfelt “thank you” to you. He is going to Christine’s Critter Cafe.
I met Harley yesterday, I wish I had the room, with some patience and training he is going to be an amazing dog.
We did briefly discuss the media and he decided against it.
Again, thank you for your help and helping with Brian’s peace of mind.
