Ali – Finds Her Forever Home!!!

A story of “Divine Intervention “. Many of you are familiar with the story of “Ali”. He was abandoned and injured after being crushed in a reclining chair at only 2 days old. We took him into our organization and I have fostered and raised him since. He underwent extensive medical care, multiple surgeries, months of healing, and here he is now at almost 7 months old. A beautiful boy with his entire life ahead… After hundreds of shares and thousands of views on social media our attempt to find his forever home has finally happened – and the way it happened gives me the chills!
Ali went to a meet and greet this last Friday with a wonderful family. The plan was to stay all weekend, and see how things went. There were 2 other sibling pups in the home that got along with Ali, but the 3 of them together didn’t end up being a good mix. It would have been a great home if they had, but i believe everything happens for a reason. On Saturday the family had company over and Ali was a hit. An immediate family member happened to be in the market for a dog and she fell in love with Ali. He was at the right place, at the right time, and she was a perfect match. She and I spoke the next day, and I could tell that she was everything I was looking for in a new mommy for Ali.
On Sunday she introduced her 14 year dog to Ali and later on sent me a pic of them sleeping together. She will be closing on her new home this week which happens to be about 1 block away from me!!!!! Tomorrow I will meet her in person when she comes to visit Ali. The sibling pups will now be his cousins and the family that had him over the weekend will be aunt and uncle♡ They adore him.
Thank you all for sharing and supporting Ali all along. We couldn’t do this without you! My prayers for a forever home by Christmas have been answered! ♡ Gina

Giving Tuesday 2016 – Be A Hero

11/29/16 – BE A HERO ON THIS GIVING TUESDAY by donating today to 4 Paws 1 Heart. With your support we can continue to make miracles like this happen.

It was a freezing January 20, 2015 afternoon when I received a call from our friend at Hopeful Heart Animal Rescue. She had been contacted by the Roseville Police about a dog found tied behind the Walmart store in Roseville, MI. The dog was found with her paw chewed off. She needed to be taken to emergency immediately — “Could 4 Paws 1 Heart cover the bill”. Our answer was yes and Courtney was taken immediately to our friends at Advanced Animal Emergency. Courtney needed emergency surgery before her leg became infected and before the bones in her intestines would cause a rupture. Within just a couple of hours, Courtney’s leg was amputated and the bones within her intestines were removed and she was on the road to recovery. It was surmised that the freezing cold had actually saved Courtney from actually bleeding out and dying while tied up and unable to escape.

After some investigation, video of the area showed two men get out of their car and tie Courtney to a structure two days before she was found. As you could see them pulling away (although unable to see the license plate), Courtney tried to chase them but was restrained by the rope. We don’t know when Courtney actually chewed her paw off; it could have been before she was dumped at the Walmart store in that no other remains were found near her. Fortunately, a kind employee found her and contacted the police. Her story went viral all over the world (check out 4paws1heart.or) and within days her story was aired on WDIV.http://www.clickondetroit.com/…/dog-left-chained-u…/30844982

Almost two years later, she is a happy, healthy dog living with a great family with two teenage sons who are very much in love with her.

You can be someone’s hero today by donating on this Giving Tuesday. Use the the link on this page, or on our website, 4paws1heart.org, or by mail at P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. Thank you for being our HERO. ~ diana

Cleo – Born on the Streets with a Deformed Leg

11/28/16 – GIVING TUESDAY is tomorrow and we are asking all of our supporters to make a donation so that we can continue to make miracles like this, continue to happen.

It was in August of 2014 when we were contacted by a woman (who has not only become a great 4p1h friend, but an excellent cat trapper, home finder, and transporter — Rachel G). Rachel had just rescued a 7-week old kitten with a non-functioning leg. She was willing to give the kitten a forever home but couldn’t afford having her seen by a vet or the potential outcome. The kitten, Cleo, seemed to be in chronic pain. She couldn’t function normally – like using the litter box – and often got in trouble by getting her deformed leg caught. 4 Paws 1 Heart had Cleo examined and it was determined that Cleo had a congenital deformity and would require a leg amputation. But, she was too young to have the surgery performed at that time. Gina worked with Rachel throughout the period between rescue and surgery and Cleo was kept as comfortable as possible. She was on cage rest and pain meds for a two months until she was big enough for surgery, In October, 2014 Cleo had her deformed leg removed. Today she is doing great. She runs, jumps, and has no idea she’s different! She is full of sass and gets lots of love. Her favorite activity is sucking on her blanket. Rachel recently told us “Cleo never would have made it without 4 paws 1 heart!!”

No, Rachel, without our supporters, Cleo would have never made it. ~ diana

Carlos – Another Cancerous Tumor

11/2616 – It is with a heavy heart that I share this post about our sweet Carlos. Carlos came to us in February of this year after a tumor had burst. He had already been passed around a couple of times and unbeknownst to us he had already had part of his tail removed because of a cancerous tumor when he was just a kitten. Unfortunately, the tumor again proved to be cancerous and the tumor was removed along with more of Carlos’ tail. Although it was determined that the cancer was a progressive form and that Carlos would probably live a short life, 4 Paws 1 Heart and our good friends Denise and Shel made a commitment to Carlos. Since that time Carlos has had a third cancer surgery and a few other minor issues as a result. But through it all, Carlos has remained a loving, happy cat enjoying his many fur friends in the household. His favorite thing is to watch the Lion King with all of his fur siblings and mom. Our goal is to ensure that Carlos has a good quality of life and doesn’t suffer. Please say a little prayer for Carlos and his family. ~ diana

“Hello Team, we know everybody’s been waiting for news about Carlos. Its taken mom till now to digest and come to terms with things. The news is not what we had hoped and what we had been dreading since Carlos came to us. The cancer has spread beyond what surgery could help. Its spreading rapidly and to put him through surgery again would greatly decrease his quality of life he has at this moment and would not buy us any more time. Our hearts are truly broken. We knew in our minds this news would come but our hearts were not prepared. We have maybe a month or a bit more to continue to love & spoil our brother just as we have the last 11 months and thats exactly what we are going to do. Thankyou all for your love & support and to 4 Paws 1 Heart for being there and continuing to be there every step of the way for Carlos’s medical support. We’re going to say goodnight early everybody, its been a tough day. We love you all, Love Chance & the Gang”

THANK YOU

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our supporters! Without you we would not have been able to pay medical bills for over 3,500 animals at a cost of $448,000 since we started in August, 2010. We are also very thankful for all of those hardworking, loving people who never turn their backs to an animal in need. May God be with you all. – Diana, Gina, and the 4p1h Board

Milagra – Stepped on and Left in a Box Under Leaves, Near the Trash

mila112316mila-112316UPDATE 11/23/16 -3:24 P.M. Kitty is out of surgery. The hospital reported that the surgery went well but Kitty may have to stay overnight so that she can be watched over. I will provide more information when I get it. –

11/23/16 – Prayers Needed: Dear Friends, Little Kitty is having surgery today with Dr. Wilson. Kitty is a dwarf kitten who we think was stepped on then put in the garbage to die. Our friend, Jan P. rescued her and between Jan and her wonderful nephew, Kitty has been made healthy enough to go through surgery. Kitty’s organs were somewhat crushed together and we pray that the surgery will be successful and that this little sweetheart will recover fully and never be in pain again. Thanks, diana

Romeo – Rescued From Home Overwhelmed with Cats/Kittens

11/23/16 – Romeo is spot on. 4 paws 1 heart has helped over 1,000 cats so far this year. When you consider that just one unspayed female can have 185 kittens in a life time, that’s a whole lot of animals saved from dying in shelters and on the streets. For this, we are thankful. – Diana

“Romeo is thankful this Thanksgiving for 4 Paws 1 Heart for helping all his siblings and housemates this past kitten season- over 25 of them. That is a lot of medical being paid out so Romeo has a fantastic idea – show your thanks this season and donate to 4 Paws 1 Heart so many more animals will have a chance for a happy healthy life! do it right here: www.4paws1heart.org/donations ~ Dee”romeo-112316

A Woman Moved Into a New Home and Found Two Cats Left Behind

11/23/16 – It’s happened again. We were contacted by a person we have helped in the past. She told me that her friend had just moved into a new home and, lo and behold, there were two cats left behind. I don’t know how long they were left unattended but I’m sure they are happy to once again have food and fresh litter and human attention. 4 Paws 1 Heart will be making sure they are neutered, vaccinated, and tested. The new homeowner is willing to keep them; so, a happy ending to a very bad beginning. ~ dianacat-112316cat-2-112316

Axel – Kept on a Chain 24/7 With A Disease That Would Eventually Blind Him

11/22/16 – Happy News for Axel. This beautiful boy is no longer in pain from his Entropion condition and is now safe, warm, and loved. You might remember that Axel was left chained, outside 24/7 with very little human interaction although it become obvious that he craved it. Thankfully two kind women realized that besides just the outer conditions, they could tell something was wrong with Axel’s eyes. They contacted 4 Paws 1 Heart and together we were able to get Axel surrendered and have the Entropion condition (eyelashes growing inward and rubbing on the eye) corrected. Many good wishes go out to Axel and his rescuers. ~ dianaaxel-wjennifermcmican
