Chance – Very Friendly but Severely Emaciated

9/16/17 – This is the message I received from Cortney regarding a stray. Thank God, because of our $1,000 Match Challenge, I said YES. Look at this poor baby — how could we not? ~ diana

“Chance was found by my Uncle, at my Grandma’s birthday party at a hall. Chance was outside licking the sweat from a can, she was very friendly and approached my uncle. He brought her inside during the festivities, and we fed her and gave her water. She had some superficial injuries and was also emaciated, I had cat food and water bottles and bowls in my trunk which we gave to her. The vet estimated Chance to be about 5 years old and a spayed female, however, there is no tattoo, so it is hard to say whether she is spayed or not. There does seem to be somewhat of a faded scar on her abdomen. My uncle then told me he could watch her overnight while I found placement. I brought food and a litter box to his house for Chance. He thought he may have been interested in keeping her and it did not work out. I then went and got Chance and brought her home to my house, where she will remain until she is healthy enough for adoption. She is showing signs of excessive thirst and dehydration. The vet examined her, she has gone to Centerline Vet once for boosters, and then again for her second round of deworming, where ear drops were also prescribed. Chance also has a tail flick that she does sometimes that appears to be some kind of nerve damage or muscle spasm. Possibly from her injuries, the vet requested I get this instance on video and send it to Centerline Vet by email as Chance does not do this all of the time and was not doing it at the vet office, the doctor will assess that from there”.

9/16/17 – Chance Update: diana

“Chance update:
Chance is in pretty rough shape, she has been diagnosed with Feline hepatic lipidosis, a liver disease, which occurs when a cat stops eating which may have happened after her injuries or have been caused due to infection, she is also anemic. Good news is she has a 50/50 CHANCE at reversing the liver disease through daily medications and a special diet. She is still spunky, so everyone send them prayers that we can get her through this…. she’ll need a home when she does!! 😁 A HUGE thank you to 4 Paws 1 Heart got agreeing to continue treatment! – Cortney”

Luna – Update – Needs a Leg Amputation and is Heart Worm Positive

9/15/17 – Sweet Luna. Found on the street — maybe used for breeding and then dumped. We thought she would need a “simple leg amputation” but later learned she was heart worm positive. She saw a cardiologist who approved the surgery and yesterday her leg was amputated. When she is better, she will start heart worm treatment complements of 4 Paws 1 Heart. We could not help save these abandoned and abused without the support of our friends. Thank YOU so much for all of the donations being made during the $1,000 Match Challenge. Working together we will make a difference!!! ~ Diana . P.S. Thank You to Dr. Blasses of Patterson Veterinary and Dr. Patterson for working so closely with us on these difficult cases.luna 9:11:17

Sherrie in Alpena Needs Assistance with Her Rescued Cats

9/15/17 – 4 Paws 1 Heart funds medical treatment for abandoned, stray, and abused animals. I don’t know of any other organization that does this in Michigan. We help rescue organizations, shelters, and individuals who are independent rescuers. Sherrie has a cat rescue in Alpena, MI. Unfortunately, she has been targeted by a person who actually targeted 4p1h at one time. Not only is Sherrie trying to save cats and make sure they don’t reproduce, she is fighting the evil interference of people whose egos have been hurt. We have been trying to help Sherrie and have provided medical funding in the past. Currently, because our funds are low, we had to prioritize our assistance. At this time, we are helping with the serious medial needs of upper respiratory infections, a prolapsed uterus, and some other issues that arise from living on the streets. These babies are a few of them. ~ diana

Josie – RIP Sweet Mama and your Babies

9/14/17 – There have been so many losses this summer it has been heartbreaking for the rescuers and those of us trying to help. Here is another that I just posted the other day. This little baby named Hope lost three siblings and her mom, Josie, hasn’t had a temperature under 103 degrees in a week. Hope was to be taken to the veterinary today, but she died last night. RIP sweet beauty. We wish we could have done more. ~ dianajosie and baby 9:9:17

Finley – Found Emaciated on the Streets

9/14/17 – Please consider donating today when your donation will be matched. Unfortunately, the need for assistance has been great this year. It seems that for every one animal we help, five more come to our attention. This is Finley. She was found on the street at 3-4 years old, weighed only 3 lbs. Can you imagine what this poor animal has gone through??? She is very sweet but was so very emaciated the doctor could not even get enough blood to perform an fiv/felv test. She is currently on fluids and her rescuer will be working to ‘fatten’ her up and give her lots of love. ~ dianafinley 9:14:17

Wally – Found With a “Torn Up” Leg

9/12/18 – Wally is another animal we committed to helping until he was happy and healthy. I received an email from someone we have helped in the past. Her sister had found a kitten in her yard whose mom was weaning him but he was having problems walking. His little leg was “torn up” and his whole paw was badly swollen. The little guy was put in a box and taken to a veterinary hospital and we were contacted for help. Little Wally was kept on antibiotics for ten days while waiting for surgery and finally his leg was amputated. Today he is doing well and the kitten who was scared and shy is now giving purrs and getting lots of love. Again, without the support of our friends, we could not make miracles happen. ~ dianawally 9:12:17wally 1 9:12:17

Luna – Rescued from the Streets with a Broken Leg and Heart Worm Positive

9/11/17 – One of the vets we work with contacted us to ask if we could help with a dog just brought into the hospital. A couple saw this dog struggling to get into a commercial fenced in area. The dog was limping badly–forty minutes later the couple was able to get her. The vet asked if we could cover the medical and the couple was willing to foster and try to find the owners or an adopter.
We agreed to pay for x-rays and the exam and it was determined that Luna’s leg was broken and there were contusions to the lungs. Luna may have been hit by a car.
Luna was then taken to one of the hospitals we rely on for surgery and it was determined that Luna’s leg would need to be amputated and in another x-ray, the doctor saw what might be heart worm. YES, as if this poor girl hadn’t been through enough, she has what appears to be a high stage of heart worm. Two tests were taken and it was confirmed. The doctor did not want to put Luna through surgery, afraid her heart would not make it, and suggested Luna be seen by a cardiologist before any surgery. So, here we are — we have a very sweet dog, no owner, a couple willing to give her a forever home but who will need more than what we originally thought. The options??? Go all the way or euthanize. We are going to go all the way. We have also asked the couple to do whatever they can to try and raise funds. Please pray for Luna and share. ~ diana

Fred – Severely Matted, Blind, and Had Trouble Standing

9/10/17 – I received an e-mail from an independent rescuer who we’ve helped before about a cat who showed up at her dad’s house. ‘Fred’ was severely matted, appeared blind, and seemed to have a problem standing. Of course, we had Fred seen by one of our favorite veterinarians. Fred was already neutered — so he must have had a home at one time — and had to be put under to be shaved. He does have an eye issue but is not blind. And, now that he is in the loving home of Nikki’s dad, he is eating and doing well.

Please understand that we are there for cats and dogs but, unfortunately, the number of very sick and injured cats continues to be overwhelming. Far too many cat owners. believe that cats can be put outside and survive. A domesticated cat cannot fend for himself in the wild. Also, there are far too many sub-humans who hate cats and will purposely injure or poison them. Please continue to pray for the cats and dogs (and humans) in the path of Hurricane Irma and all of the animals who are thrown out, neglected, and abused in our own communities. It has been heartbreaking to see the number of animal bodies being recovered in Houston. ~ dianafred 9:10:17fred 1 9:1l:17

Josie and Baby – She Had 4 Babies but 3 Died

9/9/17 – As I’ve said before, our postings have not kept up with all of the animals we have been helping. Consequently, you will continue to see the stories of the animals we have been helping over the last month although we can’t take on new cases until we increase our bank account. Sweet Josie and her baby are two of the animals we committed to help. Josie was found on the street with 4 kittens. She was brought into safety but shortly after 3 kittens died. Josie was tested and examined and her remaining baby was also seen by the doctor. Josie had a fever and infection and was treated. Prayers Josie and her baby thrive. ~ dianajosie and baby 9:9:17
