Covid19 – A Difficult and Dangerous Period for Humans and Animals

3/27/20 – This is going to be a tough time for all strays — dogs and cats — who will be contracting heart worm and upper respiratory infections. All About Animals and The Paws Clinic has been closed due to Governor orders because both clinics are considered non-essential. To those of us in the rescue world, we know how essential spay/neuter truly is. I understand the thought was to save PPE for the hospitals but I know there will be thousands of animals who will be born over the next few months and then will go on to produce more. This will totally negate all of the work we’ve done over the past 10 years. Add to that, people are out of work, fundraisers are being cancelled, and donations to all of us are (understandably) non-existent. Please help where you can. Whether it be to foster, donate, or just pray. May God be with all of our friends and the animals who need us. – diana

Brooke – Born Without an Eyelid; Will Now Get Reconstructive Surgery

3/23/20 – I’ve posted about Brooke and Meadow before. This past week the rescue, Saving Cats & Kittens in Michigan, again asked for our help for Brooke:
“Brooke was seen at Veterinary Vision Center today, and they think they can reconstruct her upper eyelid that is missing by using tissue from her lower lid. Dr. Singh could do the cryogenic ablation again afterward to remove any hairs that grow back so we wouldn’t have a huge expense for that after the big surgery to save her sight. The only humane alternative is removing the eyes, and the estimate for that surgery is $600 higher than eyelid reconstruction, so after speaking with Dr. Kimmitt we think this is the best option for Brooke.
You mentioned that you could help toward the surgery, and if you are still able to do that we would be extremely grateful for your help to get this surgery for Brooke. – Debbie”

Before the current health crisis we did commit to helping Brooke and we are keeping our commitment. Today I called in payment so that Brooke could have her surgery. – diana

Amanda – A Return Visit to the Vet For an Infected Puncture Wound

3/21/20 – Amanda was rescued by our friend Patricia B. Patricia has been trying to find a furever home for her and when she was first rescued 4 Paws 1 Heart took care of her medical needs — which most often always includes treatment for an upper respiratory infection (URI). Well, all of a sudden, Amanda’s nose started swelling (not photo). She didn’t show signs of a URI and Patricia couldn’t find in puncture holes or wounds. She worried that maybe Amanda had cancer. We paid for Amanda’s repeat visit to the doctor and she determined that Amanda had an infection most likely caused by a claw puncture. The Doctor drained the area in several spots, gave her some antibiotics and put a cone on her. Cats’ claws are like needles and you may not see a puncture would because they heal that fast.
I know this will be a tough financial time for millions of people but if you are able to donate, it would be much appreciated. The medical need will not end but will only get worse as the weather warms. Thank YOU for your support. – diana

Dozer and Zac – One was Trapped, Neutered, Released and the Other Will Find His Furever Home

3/18/20 – These are very trying times for animals and especially for the humans who care for them. There are veterinarians who are concerned about their staffs and might be closing or changing the way they care for their patients. Stray animals on the streets still need our help but for 4 Paws 1 Heart, the potential for rescheduling fundraisers could mean a loss of at least $10,000. This may put us in the position of having to say “NO”. We are so very sorry for all of the people out of work because of the many closures and those relying on their IRA’s and 401’s to pay their bills. With God’s blessings, we will get through this together. Here are two beauties we recently helped. Dozer was TNR’d and Zac is looking for a furever home. If you are interested, contact Theresa at: [email protected] – Thank you for all of your prayers by working together we will get through this. – diana

Scrunch and Squirt – Rescued With Intestinal Issues and Upper Respiratory Infections

3/17/20 – These sweeties, Scrunch and Squirt, were rescued separately but are now inseparable. Scrunch has had intestinal problems that we had to take care of a few times and both have been treated for upper respiratory infections. They received their vaccines, testing, and were spayed/neutered. The rescue family decided they couldn’t let them go. Happy Beginnings for everyone. ~ diana

Ziggy – For 2 Years the Rescuer Thought He was Feral – Finally Trapped and Treated

3/16/20 – Ziggy had been hanging around the rescuer’s home for the last two years. The caring woman has been trying to trap him for awhile because she saw he had wounds and appeared to have an upper respiratory infection. Finally, she did it! Ziggy was taken to one of our partner doctors and was treated for the infection, and an infestation of ear mites. Once the infection is cleared, Ziggy will have his infected teeth extracted and will be neutered and vaccinated. It turns out that Ziggy loves to be petted and the rescuer has already lined up a home for him. It truly takes a village. – Diana

Drag Queen Bingo 2020 – Rescheduled Due to the Covid 19

3/14/20 – In the best interest of all of our supporters, the April 5, 2020 Drag Queen Bingo fundraiser has been cancelled and will be rescheduled. I will be in contact with all of those who have already paid. We can either keep your payment for the rescheduled event or refund your money. If you paid by check, I will send you a letter or you can contact me at: [email protected] to let me know what you would like to do. I will be talking with the venue later today to come up with another date. We are thinking late September/October because we know how busy the summer is. Also, don’t forget that we still have the May 16 bowling fundraiser planned. Thank you for your understanding and support. – diana
