Knish – Rescued With a Broken Paw Requiring an Amputation

6/20/21 – As I’ve reported throughout the past 15 months, this has been a very tough time for the animals on the streets. Restrictions in medical care, lack of staff, and the many more animals being born and injured on the streets have been a challenge for all of us in the ‘animal rescue’ world. Knish is one such animal.
Knish was being cared for in a cat community and one day the caretaker noticed he was having difficulty with one of his paws. A person we’ve helped in the past was contacted and got Knish into a hospital where the vet advised that the paw had a break but believed it could be repaired although they couldn’t do it. She then contacted us. Through consultation with one of our faves – Dr. Zalac and after examination and x-rays, it was determined that amputation would be best. This meant that Knish would never go outside again. Paige found a foster for Knish which is where he is being socialized and is scheduled for surgery on June 29. Knish was vaccinated but will be neutered during the paw surgery. – diana
