10/7/14 – Meet Henry — Thanks to our partnership with Advanced Animal Emergency in Clinton Township, this sweet 10 week old Beagle/Bassett mix was saved. He required an abdominal exploratory surgery for what was thought was a foreign body in his intestines. As it turns out, he had such a heavy load of roundworms that they caused an obstruction in his intestines and caused an impaction. He is doing well and has a home already lined up for him after he recovers from surgery. ~ diana

ANGEL- Sharing a home with many cats

Pongo – Love, Tenacity, and Fate; His Mom Died and No One Seemed to Care
10/6/14 – Happy Morning Update: You may remember the very sad Australian Shepherd left to fend for himself after his owner died. Because of the tenacity of a very kind woman, an 
excellent rescue organization, and fate, this very handsome guy was saved and is now in his new home. Here is the report from our friend, Morna: ~ diana
“Just wanted to let both of you know that Pongo was adopted today. He went to one of our approved adopters who has owned aussies for many years. Pongo joins a 14 year old female aussie in this home. The man came to Metamora where Pongo was fostered and spent over 2 hours with him this afternoon. He went home to talk to his wife and when she said yes, he drove all the way back to pick him up and take him home.
Thanks to both of you for all of your help. Without you both bringing his plight to our attention I’m afraid he might not have had such a good outcome.
If he sends us some pictures of him, I’ll forward them to you. I’m attaching some of the pix that I used to post him for adoption. The man who adopted him emailed me within hours of my posting him. He is a great dog and very spry for his age. His bloodwork was like that of a much younger dog. He LOVES stuffed animal toys so this boy was a very much loved dog by someone who from what we understood passed away.
Any updates, I’ll pass along to both of you.

Plexus – Working Together To Save Lives

This sweet little kitty was taken into a local veterinary hospital with a significant injury under her arm (the third picture is a little graphic). She underwent surgery for this injury yesterday and will be spending at least this weekend at the vet. We are excited to have a pretty major adoption happening on Tuesday (stay tuned!), opening one of our best special needs fosters to help this little girl.
We will give you updates on her progress! We also want to give special thank yous to Lisa Taylor and Hoover Road Animal Hospital for helping this little one, and especially to 4 Paws 1 Heart for helping with her expenses! It takes a village” ~ Tigerlily

JANE – Working Together With Rescue Groups to Make A difference
10/5/14 – Happy Fall Morning! I wanted to share Jane with all our new and old friends. It was when I read Jane’s very sad story that I reached out to Mutts Of Motown offering to help. That was a great day. Not only have I had the opportunity to see Jane a few times but Laura Releasethehounds Lauer has been a great mentor to me and of great help with other animals we’ve helped. Laura truly is what rescue should be all about and the animals she takes in are beautiful examples of her love and dedication. ~ diana
It’s been almost 2 years since we rescued Jane. She’s been one of our most popular rescue dogs. She got a very sad start, a stray, attacked by the other strays she’d been living with in an empty house. The neighbor who had been feeding them called and we were able to save her despite many puncture wounds. Then, to add to her sad story, she tested positive for heartworm which is deadly. Thankfully, we found some help treating her heartworm from our good friends at 4 Paws 1 Heart and our amazing vet. For almost a year she remained with us making tons of friends. Because of her understandable fear of other dogs, and her scars, she seemed to get overlooked by adopters, but was the best behaved dog in our rescue. The most wonderful and perfect family came for her a few months ago and she’s got kids to play with and a great mom and dad to spoil her! Here are some photos they sent us today along with her entry pic and one from her photo shoot. Sometimes it takes awhile to find the perfect fit!! She found it here
TOBY – Individual Rescuers and 4 Paws 1 Heart Working Together
10/4/14 – On September 17, 2014 we received this e-mail from:
“I just rescued a puppy Friday who was listed Free on Craig’s List. Come to find out, he has never seen a vet (no shots or neutering), and he was diagnosed with Dermodedic Mange. His whole body is covered in pinkish red sores, and they have begun to open up. The vet we took him to says the fees for Mange treatment will run about $80 with meds and observation, and I was wondering if there was any way you might be able to help with that? I will hopefully get him caught up on shots and hold off neutering til he is healthier. Our main concerns are the skin and his weight. I am hoping we can keep him.” ~ Kathleen
We were happy to help and since that time, Kathleen has been updating us. Here are Toby’s before and after photos. We love all of our friends who are so passionate and caring. ~ diana

Dumped At A Veterinary
10/4/14 – This little one needs help! Lisa Taylor was contacted by Hoover Road Hospital (586-795-3500, 31170 Hoover, Warren) yesterday and told that this very sweet cat had been dumped at the hospital. She is a young female, tested negative for fiv/felv, and super friendly. She has a huge open laceration under her armpit which appears to be the result of her leg being caught in a collar which became embedded. Some of her care and medications were already covered by a donation and 4 Paws 1 Heart will pay for her wound care and spaying. Please contact Hoover Road Animal Hospital if you can provide a home. ~ diana
