THIS IS OUR MISSION

12/13/22 – Our love. Our commitment to the stray, abused and abandoned animals found frightened, lost, ill and injured without homes or owners.

Autumn was rescued by Michigan State police, found starving, cold and despondent. We jumped into action when they called us for help. We found Autumn a foster home, a reassuring environment for her to decompress and emotionally heal and paid for the veterinarian care she needed. Once healthy, she moved in to her forever home.

As many of you know, The Detroit News Cheer for Charity contest ends at 11:59 a.m. this Friday, December 16. Each and every donation being made during this contest bring us closer to winning the $20,000 gift The Detroit News is graciously giving to the charity that raises the most money.

ROCKY AS PROMISED

12/12/22 – Rocky was left behind by his owners who were evicted. He was left without food and water for two weeks before the owner of the home found him. Rocky was skin and bones, very malnourished as seen in the first two photos. She took Rocky, who she thought was about 6-7 months old for a wellness check and learned he was actually 1-2 years old and tested positive for heart worm. That is when we were contacted for help. Rocky was taken to our friends at Comforts Place where Rocky was examined and neutered. Unfortunately, they do not as yet have x ray equipment so Rocky will be going to another partner vet for the x rays and then return to Comfort’s Place for his heart worm treatment. The last two photos are of Rocky since being rescued.

The Detroit News Cheer for Charity contest ends at 11:59 a.m. on Friday, December 16. The donations being made during the contest is allowing us to help dogs like Rocky and if we are fortunate enough to win the $20,000 many more stray and abused animals will be helped during our harsh winter (and hopefully beyond). With just a few days left in the contest, we are in the lead. So thank you so very much and, please keep sharing donating if you can. – diana.

KRINGLE MAY SURVIVE THANKS TO OUR SUPPORTERS AND NETWORK

12-11-22 – And because of our many supporters, 4 Paws 1 Heart has committed to do what is necessary if we can have a Christmas miracle and Kringle survives. I spoke with Deb N. This morning and she was so thankful for so many in our network who came together last night to save this 3-4 week old. Working together, we can truly make a difference. -diana.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE NAME SUGGESTIONS . WE NAMED HIM KRINGLE AS IN CHRIS KRINGLE SINCE ITS SO CLOSE TO CHRISTMAS.

This little one saved last. He was found under a tree in someone’s yard in extremely critical condition. Thank you Kim picking him up and bringing him to deb. Deb is amazing she has been up all night making sure this little one made. thanks to Emily without her knowledge and help he never would have made it through the night. Thanks to Aaron also for letting deb Borrow an oxygen concentrator which would not have been possible without out 4paws1heart contacts and rescuers. Like 4paws1heart heart says it takes a village. ROCKY – AND IF ALL OUR “LIKES” COULD PLEASE DONATE

12/10/22- If every person who ‘likes’ one of our posts, would just donate $5 or $10 during our Detroit News Cheer for Charity contest, it would be a huge advantage for the many animals who have no one else but US. This is Rocky who was found on the streets. I’ll be telling his story on Monday but in the meantime, please, if you can, consider donating today; just click on the link. Thank YOU!

HEIDI AND HER KITTENS

12/9/22 – It was early September when a rescue friend, Cortney, whom we’ve helped in the past, contacted me about a beauty she rescued from the streets. She took her (Heidi) into the vet and found out that she was pregnant so Cortney took her home, contacted me as a heads up to ask if we could sponsor everyone when it was time. I said we could as long as we could get everyone into a low-cost clinic. Cortney was sure that Heidi would only have two kittens. Well, she was wrong. Heidi gave birth to six beautiful babies and finally everyone is scheduled to get the ‘works’ in January. This is Heidi and her babies, Mae Mae, Jefe, Latto, Luca, Posty, and Snow.

Because of our supporters, seven cats will never reproduce and that means hundreds of cats (over a lifetime) will never be born to wander and die on the streets. At this time, Cortney tells me that many are already spoken for and will be in homes with plenty of love.

Don’t forget — The Detroit News Cheer for Charity contest where the charity with the most votes will win $20,000! I don’t mean to sound uncaring but the reality is that there are many resources available for humans in need but very few resources for the stray, abandoned, and abused cats and dogs on our streets. Your donations will save lives. – diana.

PEANUT

12/8/22 – It was early October when I was notified that a dear friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart was stricken with a serious illness. Over a 3 week period she had at least 5 surgeries and it was determined that she might not be able to ever care for her fur babies. Consequently, her sister and cousin jumped into action and found homes for everyone but poor little Peanut. Peanut is 11 years old and we all know how difficult it is to find placement for an 11 year old. As Peanut’s buddies were placed, she continued to be unclaimed and then it came down to the last days of the apartment lease. With only 3 days left, Peanut still didn’t have a place to go to and that is when our amazing Board member, Cynthia, came to the rescue. Over the years, Cynthia has taken in elderly orphans and gave them loving homes until their final days. The day she called me to inquire about Peanut she had just lost her second cat in just weeks. Cynthia welcomed Peanut into her home on November 8. We immediately got her into a vet for a check up. She was treated for an ear infection and her mats were cleared. During Thanksgiving weekend, Peanut didn’t seem to be acting like herself and again we arranged her visit to a vet. At that time the doctor found ulcers on her tongue and throat, a fever and she was dehydrated. It could be a virus or kidney issues. Blood tests were done and she was given medications. Today she is returning to our vet for a follow up visit. Please keep Peanut in your prayers. She has been separated from her many buddies, her mom of many years, and moved to a new home but she is a fighter.

It truly takes a Village and can’t tell you how proud I am to be a member of such a powerful network of animal angels. Once again, your donations at work. Please, if you can, help us get to the finish line to win $20,000 by making a Christmas donation with the following link: https://fundrazr.com/c26nsa

DOORBUSTER

And this is how your donations to 4 paws 1 heart are spent!! Is this adorable or what!! This is Doorbuster (or should he be called Belly Buster as suggested by his savior and foster mom). This cutie is one of the 9 babies born to Nova. We didn’t know if he’d make it and unfortunately his sister didn’t, but his foster mom didn’t give up and now he’s gaining weight and happy to finally be a bottle baby. – diana

MEET CHANCE

12/6/22 – He was found in a park in a local community without any identification. Animal Control was contacted and no one claimed him and Animal Control did not have room for him. The rescuer decided she would keep Chance and try to find a furever home or rescue if we could help with his medical. He was taken into one of our partner veterinary clinics and, thankfully, tested for negative for heart worm. He was treated for an ear infection, neutered, vaccinated, and received flea/heart worm treatment. He is a beauty and we thank his rescuers for caring. – Diana.

P.S. Please don’t forget to share the Detroit News Holiday Cheer for Charity with your friends and colleagues. Donations save lives and it is as simple as that. Thank YOU.

NOVA’S PUPPIES BOGO AND BUSTER

12/5/22 – An update on Nova’s puppies (see earlier posts and/or our website). I’m very sad to report that BOGO passed away two days after our dear friend, Emily K., took on the formidable task of saving her. She just wasn’t strong enough and her very large cleft palate was too much for her to contend with when trying to eat. Both BOGO and Doorbuster had painful bellies and bad diarrhea. Dr. Zalac, who Emily has been in close contact with and who has seen the mom and babies, believes they have/had adenovirus (infectious hepatitis). The good news is that Doorbuster has turned the corner. The diarrhea has stopped and he finally took a bottle yesterday. He is gaining great weight and Emily reports that “Buster is a little Piggy”. The last photo of Buster was sent to me yesterday, he looks like one of those milk commercials. – diana.

P.S. Please continue to share, promote, and donate (if you can) in the Detroit News Holiday Cheer for Charity contest. Babies like BOGO and Buster depend on us.
