SIMBA – Attacked by a Dog and Requiring Eye Removal
Simba was an outside cat who was attacked by a dog. The people who take care of him took him to the vet and got antibiotics and drops for him. The veterinary clinic quoted them a cost of almost $1,000 to remove the eye which was injured in the attack. The caretakers could not afford to pay for Simba’s surgery and reached out to two women who conduct TNR in the neighborhood. The ladies scheduled Simba’s neuter and then contacted us to see if we could help. He is scheduled for surgery on March 2 and we will cover the eye removal and any other medical care needed to make him an ‘inside’ cat. Ginger, Pumpkin, and Peaches were found orphaned by a friend’s workplace. Their mom, who they had been following around, got hit by a car and died. We were contacted to cover their total vetting and, as usual, we said YES. – diana

FELIX – Missing for a Few Days But Then Showed Up with an Injured Leg and Neck Wound
2/10/22 – This is Felix. A kind woman had been feeding him and providing an outdoor shelter for the past couple of months. He was missing for a few days and when he showed up he had an injured leg and a neck wound. With the help of our friend and owner of Comfort’s Place, we were able to get Felix in to be treated for his injuries as well as getting him neutered and vaccinated. – diana.4paws1heart.org/donations/
BUDHA – He Walked Into an EMS Vehicle and Was Saved
2/8/22 – Your donations not only saves the life of one animal, but it ensures that many other unwanted animals will not be born on the streets. Our friend who saved Charlie has a daughter who is an EMT in Detroit and she saw this sweetie shivering, and hungry. She opened the door to the ambulance and he jumped in. And, just like her mom, the daughter brought him home. The daughter said there was an outdoor shelter nearby with frozen urine inside. CHARLIE – Brought to Safety on Christmas Eve by a Friend of 4p1h
2/8/22 –Charlie just ‘hung around’ the neighborhood without having anyone to claim him. Our friend, Shawn, contacted us for help and because of our amazing supporters, we once again said yes. Shawn took in the little guy Christmas Eve and promised to find him a home. BRUNO – He Showed Up With Open Wounds on His Legs
Meet Bruno. This handsome guy was being fed for several months by a caring family in Warren. For one week they didn’t see him, then a couple of days ago he showed up with open wounds on his leg. The rescuer wants to give Bruno a furever home and asked for our help. We were happy to oblige. – diana.

BEATRICE – Rescued Before a Major Storm with a Collar Severely Imbedded in Her Neck
Beatrice had been hanging around the area for about six months. The rescuer thought she was someone’s cat until she saw her scavenging in her garbage a couple times and living in the neighbor’s crawlspace. So she trapped her just before the recent storm. She is friendly and had to be someone’s cat at one time. She had a collar on but it was so tight and embedded in her fur that the rescuer had to cut it out. Beatrice was so grateful she immediately turned over for a belly rub. Beatrice was posted everywhere in case someone was missing her but no one has stepped up.. She is missing the tip of an ear so the rescuer originally thought she was someone’s TNR though there are no colonies in that area, possibly due to the coyote population. But, it is from frost bite and it is still crusty and tender. Beatrice was brought inside. She has a urinary track infection and will be spayed/neutered (not sure if she is a female or male), tested, vaccinated, and treated for any parasites.

MOLLY – Showed Up on a Porch with Puncture Wounds and a Shattered Right Femur
Meet very sweet Molly. She showed up on the porch of a kind woman who often rescues. She had puncture wounds and was not putting weight on her back leg; her leg was also swollen. Fortunately, Moore Veterinary was able to get her the next day where she had x rays, a heart worm test, and given pain meds. It was determined that Molly had a shattered right femur. The doctor recommended amputation. Molly will be seeing a doctor at another partner veterinary, Patterson, for the amputation in that amputations are not performed at Moore. For now she is resting with a potential adopter and we hope we can get her in soon for her surgery. – diana.4paws1heart.org/donations/
NAOMI – Update – Her Leg was Amputated and Now She is Looking for Her Furever Home
Naomi was found by a mail carrier in Chesney (near Frankenmuth); Naomi had a horrible leg wound. She was taken to a nearby veterinary clinic where the veterinarian said Naomi had been attacked and was missing a bone in the back leg. Naomi was then released with an open leg wound, no bandages and no pain meds. The woman who rescued her and took her to the vet said that she wasn’t home enough to properly care for her and was asking for someone to take Naomi in. Our Board member, Dee, tried to think of someone that could take her. The more she looked at Naomi’s photo, she knew she needed help. Dee didn’t know what else to do, so she sent a message to Gina and Gina said to bring Naomi to her. The rescuer drove down and delivered her and her leg looked absolutely horrible – again, NO BANDAGE and NO pain meds. Dee texted Gina immediately and Naomi was started on pain meds. A couple of days later Naomi was able to get into Moore Veterinary and got the ‘works’, as well as a bandage on her leg — that helped her tremendously. Naomi also had a very ‘weird’ intestinal issue that the vet saw on an x-ray but after putting her under, Naomi was able to clear her bowels and the issue was resolved. Naomi was also extremely anemic and she received treatment for that. The Frankenmuth vet had advised that Naomi had a chip on her knee bone and said it would heal but she would walk with a limp. But, unfortunately, after x-rays were taken at Moore’s, it was determined that Naomi’s knee is totally blown out and her achilles is torn and the rest of her ligaments are torn. The doctor at Moore’s believed Naomi was probably hit by a car and recommended amputation. Because Moore Veterinary does not do amputations, we referred the x-rays to Dr. Z at Orion Animal Hospital and she confirmed the Moore veterinarian’s diagnosis. Naomi had her surgery February 4. Please remember her in your prayers. Dee and her husband, Rick, both tell me how very sweet and deserving this baby is to be given a second chance at life. There is no doubt that Dee will find Naomi the very best home and family. The very sad reality is that without the financial support of our followers, Naomi would probably have had to be euthanized.
