HAPPY LOVEY UPDATE!!

9/25/23 – Lovey was rescued in early August after being found unintentionally locked in a garage for 3 months. A neighborhood boy reported his findings to Gail, who we’ve helped in the past with rescued strays. As you can see from the before photo, she was very emaciated and had a wound on her poor little body. Well, after a couple of doctor visits over the past two months, Lovey is absolutely beautiful. Here is yesterday’s update from Lovey’s rescuer and mom:

“Hi Diana! I hope this finds you well!!

I just wanted to give you an update on Lovey!!

We had our appointment at 5 Mile Vet yesterday and all of her blood work came back purrfect!! We were able to start her vaccines yesterday, and she is really doing great! She’s such a sweet girl! She loves to be held and loves sitting next to me. She weighs 7.4 now so she’s gained over 3 pounds!!

Thank you so much Diana. Without your help, this little one would not have made it on the streets. We are so grateful for you, and for all that you do – Gail”

The thanks really goes out to our many generous donors and the loving hearts of the many people who will never turn their backs on an animal in need. It truly take a village and we are blessed to play a role. diana

IT’S CASES LIKE THIS THAT MAKE OUR FUNDRAISERS SO IMPORTANT

8/24/23 – There are so many stray animals abandoned and abused on our streets. Thank you to our good friends, Debra B. and Jo A. for responding to a call for help and catching her. Our other good rescue friend Debbie N. jumped into action with meds. As of this morning this sweet girl is not doing well but we will jump in when needed. Please say a prayer for her. It’s cases like this that make our fundraisers so important. Without funds we could not make a difference in so many lives. – diana

GROSSE POINTE SHORES BAN ON PIT BULLS

Although hundreds of signatures, speakers, and animal experts said otherwise, 4 ignorant dictators were able to change the course of many lives and happily take responsibility for killing innocent animals. A very sad day for the humanity of man.

Thank you Michigan Humane Society for taking a stand! – diana

The 35th Mutt March 2024 at the Ford House has been canceled due to the Ordinance passing. Matt Pepper, CEO of the Michigan Hunane Society, sent a letter to the council before the vote to explain why it is was a bad idea to pass the ordinance. There is a link in the article to read the letter. – Fran Bachmann Village of Grosse Pointe Shores [Official]

SNOW UPDATE

I’m so happy to report that Snow is doing great! Huge thank you to his current medical foster and long time friend Lisa for taking wonderful care of him. Also, thank you Mar, Dawn, and Darr for the donations of food and litter. And, of course 4 Paws 1 Heart for covering his Neuter and vaccines. I love having Snow with me! He is so sweet, vocal, and loves ear scratches. He loves his treats when he’s done getting his bandage changed! Thank you for trusting me with his care. And thank you everybody who donated food and treats (he loves them) – Lisa Marie

FUN FUNDRAISERS AT FREDDY’S SUNDAY THEN COLLEEN’S THURSDAY

9/23/23 – Lots of Fun ahead to benefit the stray animals helped through 4 Paws 1 Heart. Tomorrow, Sunday, will be the “Unofficial Official Roast of Screamin’ Scott Randall” at Freddy’s Bar and Grill. Hope to see many of Scott’s friends as well as our many 4 Paws 1 Heart friends.

Then on Thursday, September 28 it’s the Lions vs the Bears and once again we will be enjoying the game at Colleen’s Irish Pub in St. Clair Shores. We will have some great Lions Swag for raffles as well as a stunning football signed by the Green Bay Packers in 2022. The ball is authenticated through the NFL Green Bay Packers. And, for those of you who don’t know.– Colleen’s will be under new ownership in the near future so this will be our last ‘hurrah’ under the generous Colleen’s ownership. BUT, we have met the new owners–great people– who we hope to work with when their new place opens.

Lastly, after this week I’ll be reporting on another exciting fundraiser planned for Sadie Hawkins Day (February 29, 2024). So, please continue to follow us and please share with your friends and family. – diana

LEO WILL BE LOOKING FOR HIS FUREVER HOME

9/23/23 – On September 18 I posted Leo’s story. He had been found alone, very thin with many wounds on his body and barely able to stand. He was seen by one of our partner vets at Five Mile Animal Hospital in Redford where his wounds were treated and he was given medication for infection. He had a follow up visit to be neutered and vaccinated and last Thursday, his rescuer, Cristin, sent me the following update:

“Leo is recovering from his neuter surgery and his x-rays yesterday. He is very sweet and appreciative of rescue! He also doesn’t have any broken bones or spinal injury, which is really great He is gaining weight and learning to walk again and can relax. Leo loves his orange slice collar because it also doubles as a pillow for him to sleep and rest – Cristin”

Leo will be looking for his furever home when he is fully recovered. – diana

ANAKIN – YOUR DONATIONS SAVE LIVES!!

9/20/23 – Anakin was found behind the Kroger store at which the finder works. A customer told her that she had seen someone dump a number of kittens behind the store. Jessica (the finder) looked for the other kittens but could not find anyone but Anakin. Jessica will find this little sweetie a good home but needed our help to get him snap tested, vaccinated, neutered, and treated for any fleas/parasites. Everything was authorized for this sweet baby and we wish him a safe and wonderful next life. – diana
