UPDATE – OWNER FOUND NOTHING MORE NEEDED FROM 4P1H

7/12/23 – Meet Mary. She was seen tied to a street sign and left in the hot sun for most of the day as no one stopped to help her. A member of Make A Difference Rescue happened to see her and provided food and water while waiting to see if anyone would show up but there was no one. So she rescued her and we were called for medical assistance. Mary will be taken to a vet where we will cover her medical needs and we will pray that she will negative for heart worm. – diana

7/12/23 – Stella was found homeless, without a tag or microchip. She was very matted and seemed to favor one of her paws. Her finder was able to get her into one of our veterinary partners who shaved her mats, examined the paw injury, and vaccinated her. Stella was already spayed. The doctor thought the paw injury would heal on its own. Stella is with her finder enjoying her new feline friends and safe shelter. – diana

7/11/23 – She was found wandering the streets near a freeway. She was eventually rescued by a kind man and his grandma. They took her to be groomed and that is when three tumors were discovered. Cinnamon saw Dr. Lynch at Patterson Veterinary Hospital, Clinton Twp., on July 6. Dr. Lynch contacted me to report that Cinnamon is approximately 13 to 14 years old with mammary masses and dental disease. She took an x-ray and there was no evidence of metastasis. Blood work was done and the doctor thought the results look good. Cinnamon was also negative for heart worm. Cinnamon will be scheduled for surgery to remove the masses, treat the dental issues, and finally spay her. Please remember Cinnamon in your prayers (as for all of the homeless animals on our streets). She will soon be pain free and continue to be loved by her new mom, Grandma. – diana

7/10/23 – Newton was found in a storage unit; his eyes were in terrible condition. The finder took him to the emergency where the vet reported him to be neutered, about 1.5 years old, and with severe eye ulcerations and ear infections. One eye appeared to be not viable. There wasn’t a microchip or collar or other identifying information. Newton was very friendly and enjoyed petting.

The finder was unable to keep him because of their dog and although willing to keep him crated while treating him with the medication, they needed to find someone who could take him in. Fortunately, a friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart, Andrea D. stepped in and took him in to foster and find an adopter.

Newton was again taken to a vet and received plasma drops, pain meds and medicine for his ear infection. As of today, his eyes are looking better and we are praying that he will not need an eye removed. Newton is scheduled to see our doctors at Patterson Veterinary, Clinton Twp., a week from today. He is a very sweet boy and deserves a loving, furever family. – diana

7/9/23 – Our little Dino (aka Sonic) is a star! It was October, 2014 when he was attacked by a dog. He was brought into the emergency hospital where Gina was working. Due to several severe injuries, he spent weeks in the hospital being fed through a tube and almost losing an eye. Later he had more surgeries for a torn mouth. There were times when we thought he wouldn’t make it but with love and care by Gina and the professional staff at the emergency hospital he did. He was eventually adopted by a family who has been like family to me for over 60 years. And a little over 8 years later, here he is. His journey can be followed on our website.

7/8/23 – It’s not enough to just fund medical treatment for stray animals—it’s also important to offer the resources we have available by being a501c3 non-profit. A huge thank you to our Board member, Dee G., for initiating and coordinating this Kitty Room where the independent rescuers who are assisted through 4 Paws 1 heart, can bring their rescues kitties for potential adoption. – diana

7/7/23 – It was the middle of May when an independent rescuer whom we’ve assisted often, contacted us to help with a cat (Trezza) she had been told had a broken jaw. The cat was brought to her and a vet appointment was made. It turned out that the issue was not a broken jaw but a severely abscessed tooth. At least one tooth needed to come out and Trezza needed a full dental. The doctor thought the abscess is what was causing her mouth issues and the swelling infection. Medication was given for the infection and Trezza was taken in for her follow up. It was determined that Trezza was clear of the infection but while she was still under the anesthesia, the doctor called to say that Trezza still had a lump at the back of her jaw which could be cancer. Trezza’s rescuer, Kim, advised the doctor that she would give Trezza a furever home and let her live her life out in comfort with our without the cancer. Trezza, is approximately 8 years old and is very sweet. She is doing well and “eats like a horse”. – diana

7/7/23 – RIP – Mr. showed up in the homeowner’s yard. He had a severe head wound, by the following day he had trouble moving his back legs. The homeowner contacted us and I contacted our friend who owns Comfort’s Place in Westland. Although they were booked solid, the owner found a way to get Mr. in to see the doctor — no other vet was available. Mr. was in very poor condition and while being examined and before anything more could be done, he died. We are thankful for the love his rescuer gave him in his last moments and for all Comfort’s Place tried to do to save him. May Mr. Rest in Peace without pain and danger. – diana

7/6/23 – When will it stop?? I guess never as long as so many are willing to do the same to humans — too often without consequences.

This sweet little girl was recently dropped off to a woman who is known to care for a cat community. We had already agreed to help her with another cat, Potato, suffering with what seemed to be allergies. We covered allergy testing for Potato and the results should be in next week.

The kitten, Violet, who had been dropped off to Amber, was found in a landfill, tied within a bag. And, this poor baby appeared to have a broken leg!! Violet was taken to the vet yesterday and received medication and x rays. She had two broken bones but the doctor felt a splint would be enough at this time. We are committed to Violet for any future needs including the ‘usual vetting’. Thank you to the many people who do care and do not turn their backs on an animal in need. – diana
