MORGAN UPDATE

4/8/22 – Morgan Update. I spoke with Dr. Blasses earlier today. She advised that Morgan tested positive for Pan Leuk. But, his blood work gave her hope that he might be able to recover. He will be spending at least tonight on fluids under doctor’s care and I authorized him to remain in the hospital over the weekend if needed. Please continue to keep Morgan in your prayers. Everyone is fighting for him. – diana.

MORGAN – FOUND VERY ILL AND ABANDONED ON THE STREETS

4/8/22 – Prayer Warriors Needed! Morgan is a 6-month old kitten who appears to have been abandoned on the streets. I received a desperate call for help yesterday because he hasn’t been able to eat. Discharge is coming out of his nose. Thankfully our great doctors at Orion Animal Hospital were able to see him right away yesterday and determined he had a severe infection. He was given antibiotics but this morning when he tried to eat, he vomited. We are obviously very concerned and the little guy is very sweet and is fighting to survive. He is on his way back to the vet at this time. Please say a little prayer for him. – diana.

HANSON – FOUND RUNNING LOOSE IN AN AREA KNOWN FOR DOG FIGHTING

4/7/22 – Hanson was found running loose on the streets in an area known for abuse and dog fighting. He was obviously a tethered out dog, in a backyard, basement or garage. He has been starving to death. It was also obvious that he had a collar on his neck that was too tight and he was pulling to get loose from it. It laid his skin and muscle open around his neck and then the cable got wound around his leg and you can see what happened — large open wounds/gashes around his neck going down to his legs. He may have also gotten caught up which resulted in his hanging while he was trying to get free. We were asked for assistance by our friends at Streethearts Animal Rescue and paid for Hanson’s surgery and the doctor believes Hanson will fully recover. Unfortunately, though, the sutures didn’t hold and Hanson will return for more surgery tomorrow which we will cover along with his neuter. Please pray for this guy. He is very sweet and we are thankful that he is off of the streets and that we have the funds to help. (Photos of before and after surgery are not included because they may be too graphic) – diana.

CHRISTY, JESSIE, AND JANET – ALL RESUED FROM TREES BY YOUNG MASTERS TREE SERVICE

7/11/22 – Young Masters Tree Service is not only a great business but they go out of their way to help kitties in need. Often a kitten/cat will find his way up a tree because he’s being chased or maybe just curious. But, once up, they often find it impossible to get down because of how their paws were created. Young Masters has been there for many cats to not only save them but to then provide medical and then find homes. We have reached out to them and have been trying to help as much as possible. This is Christy, Jessie, and Janet. All rescued from danger and who we were happy to help get them vetted and, in Jessie’s case, seen for an injured back.

ROCKET – SHOWED UP VERY EMACIATED WITH AN INFECTION ON HIS FACE

7/12/22 – Here is the message I received from Rocket’s finder on July 5:

“How would I get help with emergency vet care for a stray cat that has been hanging around my house then disappeared for a couple weeks, this time he showed up horribly skinny and has some kind of infection on his face. He also is not neutered. I am on Disability from recent Liver transplant so my income is limited. He looks so much like My Cat I lost last year of old age I would give him a home, he is friendly and apparently thinks this is home he must have followed my dog thru the doggy door because I woke up to a crying cat. I took a pic of the poor guys face. – Rhonda”

I was able to authorize Rocket’s vet visit where it was found that Rocket had two puncture wounds under his neck, a broken jaw, an abscess caused by the wounds, and a bullet fragment which could have killed him had it been any closer too a vital organ. Rocket received x rays, antibiotics, pain meds, and will return for a check up and his neuter and vaccines. The doctor felt the jaw break would heal with minor impact to Rocket’s quality of life and felt that would be the better route than invasive surgery.

Here are two current photos of Rocket, one with his new buddy, who is trying to show Rocket how to behave. The third photo is of Rocket just one week ago, unless it is taken down by fb. Quite a difference as to what some love and care can do. – diana.

BOOMERANG (AKA ROCKY) – HAPPY UPDATE

7/12/22 – Had to share this happy update on Boomerang (aka Boomer/Rocky). It was in mid December when Boomer was found on the street zipped up in a small cat carrier. He was soaked in his own urine as he layed there next to a bone. He had urine burns and had issues walking and issues with his skin. At the time we were contacted we authorized Boomer to be seen by Dr. Z who found that his walking issues were because he had been trapped in a small cat carrier (for who knows how long) and very poor nutrition. Well, 6 months later, Boomer is doing great (as you can see) and he is ready to be neutered (which we will take care of). As our followers know, our help doesn’t end until he/she has been spayed/neutered. One of our ultimate goals is to make sure we do everything possible to reduce the over population of unwanted cats and dogs. The first two photos are when Boomer was first rescued and the two others were just received by his now owner/rescuer. – diana.

PANDA – UPDATE

7/28/22 – Panda Update – Panda has seen a fourth veterinary doctor and it has been confirmed that she definitely needs both eyes removed. The surgery has been scheduled for August 12 and in the meantime, her foster is seeking that furever, loving home. Panda’s foster would like to have Panda become familiar with his new home before being totally blind but at this time it is more critical to take on the surgery to avoid any complications in the future. Panda has actually been doing great and loves to play and pounce on little stuffed mice. He is a very sweet kitty and if you are interested in possibly making him your own, I can put you in touch with his foster who will get in touch with you. E mail me at: [email protected]

And, we’ve had a number of surgeries in the past month and no fundraisers lined up at this time (although I’m working on it). Anything you can do to help, would be very much appreciated by the many animals who have no one else but all of us.

diana.

PANDA – RESCUED WITH TWO EYES NEEDING MEDICAL ATTENTION.

6/16/22 – Panda was rescued on 5/22; he could fit in your hand. He had crusted eyes with green ooze coming out, one had doubled in size. He was sneezing with green mucus coming out of his nose. His vision was definitely impaired. He was also very skinny. He was very sweet.

Lauren, his rescuer, contacted me and we arranged for him to go to APaws Veterinary and he was treated for the respiratory infections with an appointment for a follow up in two weeks. By May 26 he appeared to be doing well with his upper respiratory infection and Lauren thought she had lined up an adopter. Panda had a follow up appointment yesterday, June 16.

Yesterday I talked with Dr. Pasternak, who was subbing at APaws, and she said that Panda’s one eye needed to be removed within the next 3-5 days before it burst. But, she also suggested that we try to get a specialist to see his other eye because she saw some troubling issues with his pupil which may be a problem or maybe just be a birth defect. The plan was for me to call a specialist to see if we could get in by Monday or Tuesday for a consultation. The thinking from the doctor and I was that if both eyes needed removal, the surgery could be done at one time. But, when Lauren called the potential adopter, who had previously had a blind cat and was experienced with special needs cats, said she no longer was interested because she didn’t have the time.

Now we were in a dilemma because Lauren is scheduled to go out of State on June 22 and won’t be back until the end of the month. Even if an adopter or foster can’t be found, Panda needs a home to go to until Lauren returns and she needs the eye surgery within days. Under the circumstances, we decided to go ahead with the eye removal for the serious eye and then work on the consultation at a later date for the other eye. Worst case scenario would be that Panda would have to be put under twice for two surgeries. But we are praying that if another surgery is needed, it can wait until Panda is a little older and stronger (he is now 7-8 weeks old).

A good friend of 4p1h has offered to watch Panda while Lauren is gone and we have asked the vet for the soonest possible surgery date. But, Panda will still need a furever home so, please, if you are looking for a very sweet kitten who is no trouble whatsoever, please consider Panda and contact Lauren at: [email protected] diana.

MONTANA – RESCUED BUT HEART WORM POSITIVE

6/6/22 – Montana is 11 years old and his owner could no longer care for him and another dog. A woman who we have helped in the past had been providing food for Montana and his pal when the owner told her that he had to give them up. Because our 4p1h friend, Melissa, had already built a relationship with Montana she took in Montana and brought him to the vet to be neutered and vaccinated. There he was found to be positive for heart worm. Because the facility had no x ray ability, Montana was brought to another facility but Melissa has not been able to get the results. That’s when she contacted us.

Montana will be seen by a doctor at one of our long-term medical partners and we will proceed with medical treatment as recommended. – diana.

MONTANA UPDATE:

7/13/22 – Montana Update – On June 6 we posted about Montana’s rescue. He was not doing well at first with the rescuer’s other dog but eventually the relationship started to improve. The rescuer has been working with a great supervisor at All About Animals who has been great in guiding us through Montana’s recovery which now, unfortunately, includes heart worm treatment. Thankfully, Montana was able to be neutered before the treatment and his blood work and heart exam came back positive yesterday so that he can start his heart worm treatment soon. Continued prayers for Montana. – diana.
