10/4/23 – Kate was found on the street, very thin and what appeared to be an upper respiratory infection. Her finder said she was sneezing and coughing. It was arranged to have seen at a nearby veterinary clinic whom we work with to address the infection and to then take Kate to the Humane Society of St. Clair for her vaccines, testing, and spay after the infection was cleared. She was taken to Anchor Bay Veterinary where she was treated for an upper respiratory infection and appeared to be improving but shortly after, the finder kept seeing what appeared to be something in her nostril; the finder thought it might be a maggot. Kate was again seen at Anchor Bay where it was discovered that a botfly had embedded itself in Kates nostril. The botfly was removed and Kate will have a follow up visit to take care of the rest of her vetting. – diana
