8/24/23 – There are so many stray animals abandoned and abused on our streets. Thank you to our good friends, Debra B. and Jo A. for responding to a call for help and catching her. Our other good rescue friend Debbie N. jumped into action with meds. As of this morning this sweet girl is not doing well but we will jump in when needed. Please say a prayer for her. It’s cases like this that make our fundraisers so important. Without funds we could not make a difference in so many lives. – diana
Tiny baby Debra Berolatti and I caught last night. I am taking good care of her. She’s being nebulized and has antibiotics and eye meds. She’s a beauty. – Jo Sweeney Addington
It’s going to be a happy day for the abused & abandoned animals who will benefit from the fundraiser going on at Freddy’s today! Mom will be there at 12 selling raffle tickets with Auntie Di. It’s going to be a great time, come and laugh with us!
Although hundreds of signatures, speakers, and animal experts said otherwise, 4 ignorant dictators were able to change the course of many lives and happily take responsibility for killing innocent animals. A very sad day for the humanity of man.
Thank you Michigan Humane Society for taking a stand! – diana
The 35th Mutt March 2024 at the Ford House has been canceled due to the Ordinance passing. Matt Pepper, CEO of the Michigan Hunane Society, sent a letter to the council before the vote to explain why it is was a bad idea to pass the ordinance. There is a link in the article to read the letter. – Fran BachmannVillage of Grosse Pointe Shores [Official]
I’m so happy to report that Snow is doing great! Huge thank you to his current medical foster and long time friend Lisa for taking wonderful care of him. Also, thank you Mar, Dawn, and Darr for the donations of food and litter. And, of course 4 Paws 1 Heart for covering his Neuter and vaccines. You can follow his original story on our website (type snow in the search box, upper right). Gina
I love having Snow with me! He is so sweet, vocal, and loves ear scratches. He loves his treats when he’s done getting his bandage changed! Thank you for trusting me with his care. And thank you everybody who donated food and treats (he loves them) – Lisa Marie
9/23/23 – Lots of Fun ahead to benefit the stray animals helped through 4 Paws 1 Heart. Tomorrow, Sunday, will be the “Unofficial Official Roast of Screamin’ Scott Randall” at Freddy’s Bar and Grill. Hope to see many of Scott’s friends as well as our many 4 Paws 1 Heart friends.
Then on Thursday, September 28 it’s the Lions vs the Bears and once again we will be enjoying the game at Colleen’s Irish Pub in St. Clair Shores. We will have some great Lions Swag for raffles as well as a stunning football signed by the Green Bay Packers in 2022. The ball is authenticated through the NFL Green Bay Packers. And, for those of you who don’t know.– Colleen’s will be under new ownership in the near future so this will be our last ‘hurrah’ under the generous Colleen’s ownership. BUT, we have met the new owners–great people– who we hope to work with when their new place opens.
Lastly, after this week I’ll be reporting on another exciting fundraiser planned for Sadie Hawkins Day (February 29, 2024). So, please continue to follow us and please share with your friends and family. – diana
9/23/23 – On September 18 I posted Leo’s story. He had been found alone, very thin with many wounds on his body and barely able to stand. He was seen by one of our partner vets at Five Mile Animal Hospital in Redford where his wounds were treated and he was given medication for infection. He had a follow up visit to be neutered and vaccinated and last Thursday, his rescuer, Cristin, sent me the following update:
“Leo is recovering from his neuter surgery and his x-rays yesterday. He is very sweet and appreciative of rescue! He also doesn’t have any broken bones or spinal injury, which is really great He is gaining weight and learning to walk again and can relax. Leo loves his orange slice collar because it also doubles as a pillow for him to sleep and rest – Cristin”
Leo will be looking for his furever home when he is fully recovered. – diana
9/20/23 – Anakin was found behind the Kroger store at which the finder works. A customer told her that she had seen someone dump a number of kittens behind the store. Jessica (the finder) looked for the other kittens but could not find anyone but Anakin. Jessica will find this little sweetie a good home but needed our help to get him snap tested, vaccinated, neutered, and treated for any fleas/parasites. Everything was authorized for this sweet baby and we wish him a safe and wonderful next life. – diana
9/20/23 – Princess was found chained to a fence with no homes or people around. A kind man who was on his route rescued her and had his daughter contact us. Princess will be seen at Orion Animal Hospital and tested for heart worm, vaccinated, and spayed if needed and will then be a permanent part of the family. – diana
9/20/23 – Brownie and Eddy were found during a TNR project. Each one has an eye infection, injured eye, or an upper respiratory infection. Brownie’s stomach is huge and she is either pregnant or has worms. Both will be seen at Orion Animal Hospital and when ready will be getting their vaccines and spay neuter. – diana
Please check out Jack’s initial postings on 8/6/23 (as Orange) & 9/13/23 about his journey after an initial dental surgery that went totally wrong. Here is his rescuer’s update:
“Hi Diana,
I wanted to give you a quick, positive update as to how my weekend went with Jack. He’s tolerating his tube feedings so well! He’s gotten used to our schedule and will start meowing when he knows it’s almost time. Today, I walked into the room to find he’d removed his t-shirt and put it in his litter box. He may be trying to tell us something
For his last feed of the day, I placed him on a table next to a crate where I have two semi-ferals kittens. Keep in mind, he shows absolutely no interest to his food while I’m tube feeding. However, when he sniffed out the dish of kitten food on the other side of the bars, he reached in so fast in an attempt to grab a handful. It made me so happy because it’s the first I’ve seen him act like a mischievous cat again.
Also, I’m pretty sure he said some harsh things to me when I put him back in his crate. I know he’s a cat, but there was definitely a tone to that meow.
We go for his checkup on Wednesday afternoon. Today is the most confident I’ve felt since his surgery that he’s gonna pull through this like a champ
You have my endless gratitude!-Angie”
Here are updated photos of Jack after having a bath (he’s so cute) and back, safe, in his healing crate. Please realize that your donations do make a difference. If it’s not life-saving surgeries it’s just the ‘standard’ testing, vaccines, and spay/neuter. All of which are life changing–for the animals and the humans who rescue them and later bring them into their homes. – diana
