PLEASE REMEMBER ERNIE IN YOUR PRAYERS

10/24/23 – He will be undergoing amputation surgery today.

It was in late August when Ernie, fortunately, showed up at a kind couple’s home in late August. He was extremely malnourished and infested with fleas and ticks. He appeared anemic, with a possible deformity in right side rib cage (possibly broken or missing rib) and limped on his rear left leg. He arrived feral and had several missing teeth. He weighed about 4 lbs when he showed up but by the time the finders contacted 4 Paws 1 Heart (October 4-before our temporary HOLD) he had ‘fattened up” to 6 lbs. He quickly fell in love with head scratching. His finders took him to the vet but the finders could not afford what the vet estimated for diagnostics, vaccines, and neuter. His rescuers had already treated him for the fleas and ticks so they took Ernie home for comfort care while trying to find a rescue. But, as most of us know, most rescues and shelters are overrun. The finders finally decided that they would love to keep Ernie as their own and give him a chance at life if they could get medical help. That is where we came in.

Ernie was seen on October 9 by Dr. Blasses at Orion Animal Hospital. He had labs, x-ray, and his first distemper vaccine. Ernie was found to be an overall healthy 10-12-week-old boy. His left hind leg was broken just below the hip. Dr. Blasses recommended amputation with a prognosis of a quick recovery and the prospect of living a long, well-lived life. We agreed to cover Ernie’s amputation.

Ernie, is one of those cases that I had described as a commitment made before we thought it best to place a temporary hold on assistance because of the number of outstanding surgeries and cases pending as well as invoices that had not yet been received. Our hope is that with continued donations and the completion of those commitments, we will be in a better place to resume what we’ve been doing for over 13 years. – diana

REST PEACEFULLY SWEET DEWEY

Please keep our friends Cory and Andrew in your prayers today as their hearts are heavy. They notified me that sweet Dewey passed peacefully from a very aggressive cancer yesterday morning.

It was in October of 2013 when he was found as an injured stray under a van and taken to the emergency where I was working at the time. Dr Lutz and Dr Roach, did major surgery and saved his life. He had a Diaphragmatic Hernia and his organs were attached to the hole in his diaphragm. It took 2 months to recover with me in my home.

Dewey was one of my very special fosters that I will never forget. There are those “ones” that stay a significant part of you and he was one of them.

Andrew and Cory gave him the best life, he traveled all over, and they were his “people”. Rest Peacefully sweet Dewey you will be missed. Gina

So greatful to this and all rescues. It’s so hard to lose a pet but all the hours and days of the love we share with these sweet animals is more than worth it. We know Dewey will always be with us. Thank you for everything 4 paws 1 heart. – Cory

HAPPY BEFORE & AFTER SUNDAY PUP UPDATE!

10/22/23 Sammi was brought into emergency 12 years ago when she tested positive for a deadly virus called Parvo. I was working that night and took her under my care as an owner surrender. 4 Paws 1 Heart covered her medical needs. Sammi landed in a wonderful home with a friend and supporter. I was sent an update this morning that Sammi will be turning 12 years old. Hug your babies because time goes by… Gina

She has been the best pup ever, and has brought such love to my life. She has always been very laid back, smart, and has puppy dog eyes that makes you melt. I am so grateful for her. Without you, without 4 paws 1 Heart, she wouldn’t have this wonderful life. I am, we are..forever grateful. – Dee Bee

AOIFE NOW NEEDS A HOME

10/22/23 – Aoife was found less than 2 weeks ago. We covered her 1st vet visit and committed to her vaccines and Spay surgery. Her rescuer is looking for a good home. She is about 11 weeks old, super smart, and very lovable. I have offered to give her rescuer a breather and hold onto her for 1 -2 weeks, but she can not stay longer. Please help me share her to find the best possible home. For more information my email is [email protected]. Once again, the need is neverending and it takes a village. Gina

THIS IS KEKE

10/19/23 She is a sweet adorable stray kitten who was rescued after being found attacked by a dog. She has puncture wounds and a broken leg. Her rescuer reached out to us before our hold and we committed to Keke for help. She’s been seen for the diagnosis and treatment of wounds, and she has another veterinary visit lined up to address the broken leg. Please send prayers for these innocent babies who need our help. FOUR CATS TOSSED OUTSIDE

10/18/23. Sebastian, Simon, Sonia, and Sarah were rescued after being tossed out the door to fend for themselves. Their owner was placed into assisted living and the person in charge of the estate decided to let them all outside. There were 5 but only 4 were found so far, and most of them had never been outside prior to beingabandoned. A caring neighbor and rescuer contacted us for help to get the family of five checked out by a doctor and caught up on necessary medical/vaccines. We have seen Sébastien and Sonia so far and today we will have Sarah and Simon examined. All the cats are flea infested and in need of general care, dental, Vax, and tests. If you would like to help the link is posted below. Please share or consider adopting. I’ll post the email contact for more information. Gina
