BROWNIE & EDDIE HAPPY UPDATE

10/9/23 – On September 20 we were contacted by rescue friends about a tnr project involving some 30 cats. Although they had funding for the ‘tnr’ part, their personal funds had run out for any other medical needs required. Brownie and Eddie were two such cats who required more than just tnr. They both had eye issue and Brownie had a “huge belly”. We authorized their visit at Orion Animal Hospital and today I received the following update:

“Brownie has been on treatment for her eye and is doing well. Her eye is clearing up. Eddie went to Orion on Friday they drained his very full and infected nasal cavity and also removed an air gun pellet out of his head. He is doing better. – Rebecca” – diana

GREY GOOSE

10/9/23 – It all started in July. We were contacted about a ‘momma cat’ who had been showing up in a colony cared for by a liquor store owner. The caretaker, with the help of Milad, had been trying to TNR Grey Goose for a long while but she was just too savvy to the trap. But then she started showing up looking weak, losing fur, and losing weight. They were finally able to trap her and the journey began. After a number of tests and vet visits, Grey Goose was found to have Giardia and was treated accordingly. This past weekend I received the following update from Milad:

“I’m thrilled to share a heartwarming update about Grey Goose’s incredible journey. Thanks to the unwavering support of 4 Paws 1 Heart, Grey Goose has transformed into her vibrant and healthy self. After enduring over eight years outdoors in Detroit, she was ready to close that chapter and embark on a new adventure. With comprehensive veterinary care, including her spay procedure, all made possible by your kindness, she has secured a cherished spot at Focus on Feral’s cat sanctuary in Grand Rapids! Your involvement has been instrumental in making this journey possible, as she traversed the state to find her new home. Witness her thriving in her new environment, surrounded by new feline friends, in the heartwarming picture below!”

It’s updates like this that makes it all worthwhile. We may not be able to save them all, but because of the generosity of our donors and our veterinary partners, thousands of stray animals have been given a second chance at life and thousands more have been saved from being born and living and dying on the streets. A huge thank you to the rescuers and those who never turn their backs on an animal in need. – diana

RIP SCAR

10/7/23 – One of many left behind in a mobile home park. He had been TNR’d and cared for by residents of the community. We were asked to assist with what seemed to be overgrown claws and possible dental issues. When taken to our partner veterinary clinic, Scar was found to have a huge mass (possibly cancerous) so large it affected his spine and possibly his walking ability. He was estimated to be 18 years old. It was decided to let him peacefully cross the Rainbow Bridge. – diana

2.0

10/7/23 – On September 6, 2.0 showed up on a porch with a “huge open wound” at the base of his tail. His finder noticed that he had been TNR’d and he seemed very friendly. She could also see that he had parasites. 2.0 was quickly seen by one of our partner veterinarians. His wound was treated and he was given antibiotics and pain medication. He was also tested and later treated for parasites. He tested negative for fiv/felv. Fortunately, there was no damage to his tail. His finder, Luci, reported yesterday that 2.0 is now an inside cat and living happily with her mom and her mom’s fur family. Little 2.0 is the tiniest of the bunch and he is living a life of love and safety. – diana

PLEASE CONSIDER GIVING THIS SWEETHEART A LOVING HOME (GRANITE)

10/5/23 – Slate, Nickel, Granite, and Sterling were found on the streets on the east side of Detroit. Each one had upper respiratory infections. Treatment was authorized and everyone seemed to be doing better until August when something happened to Granite’s eye. Before we could respond to Melissa’s request for help, Granite’s eye ruptured and she was taken to emergency where it was determined that the eye would need removal. Melissa contacted us and approval was given for Granite to be taken to Orion Animal Hospital where she had her eye removed. Granite is a “little sweetheart” and she is looking for her furever home. Please consider giving this sweetheart a loving home with lots of love and contact Melissa at: [email protected]. – diana

KATE – YOUR DOLLARS MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

10/4/23 – Kate was found on the street, very thin and what appeared to be an upper respiratory infection. Her finder said she was sneezing and coughing. It was arranged to have seen at a nearby veterinary clinic whom we work with to address the infection and to then take Kate to the Humane Society of St. Clair for her vaccines, testing, and spay after the infection was cleared. She was taken to Anchor Bay Veterinary where she was treated for an upper respiratory infection and appeared to be improving but shortly after, the finder kept seeing what appeared to be something in her nostril; the finder thought it might be a maggot. Kate was again seen at Anchor Bay where it was discovered that a botfly had embedded itself in Kates nostril. The botfly was removed and Kate will have a follow up visit to take care of the rest of her vetting. – diana

MEET QUESO, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN HELPING HIM

He has suffered severe neglect. A friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart found him covered in feces, fleas, skin sores, overgrown nails, and rotten teeth. He called me over the weekend and I was able to get this poor miserable dog seen at a partner hospital on Monday morning. Queso is scared and seems traumatized. His finder is working hard to help him feel relaxed. A full workup was done, meds sent home, and with neutering, skin, dental work, etc we have a ways to go. I’m not sure if the finder will need help with placement. If you are interested in helping towards the medical for Queso we greatly appreciate any help.

Also, for more information please message me [email protected]. thank you, Gina
