HAPPY MOCHA UPDATE

12/20/23 – You can read Mocha’s journey on our posts of 10/10/23 and 11/22/23. She was rescued from the streets of Flint and rescued by an amazing family. We were asked to help with Mocha’s medical and thankfully at the beginning she tested negative for heart worm. And, then, on December 5, Mocha was finally spayed. Ronda and her family gave us an update and said that Mocha is doing great and getting lots of love from the family. Here are photos when she was first rescued, on her first trip to the doctor, then more recently from her visit at the clinic, after surgery and being loved and cared for by the family, and then with her collar so she can’t hurt herself. As an additional note, Mocha was found to have a hernia and that was repaired at the time of her spay surgery. Your donations mean so much to not only the orphans who are saved but to the amazing families who save them. – diana

RIP MARK

12/19/23 – I’m sorry for the late RIP posting but sometimes, as we all know, life gets in the way of our best intentions. Mark was found on the street in early October. He had ears and eyes infections. He was taken to one of our best veterinary partners which was near the rescuer and treatment was given for the infections, the doctor also found a hernia and determined that Mark had impacted feces which they cleared. It was recommended that nothing be done with the hernia and neuter until the infections cleared. Mark seemed to be doing great but on October 20, we were informed that Mark had passed away. The rescuer believes he was unable to move his bowels. We are so very sorry we couldn’t do more for this beautiful boy. – diana

ATLAS AND CHLOE

12/18/23 – The rescuer, Chloe, was contacted by her grandmother about a beautiful dog who was going to be taken to the shelter because the family was moving. Chloe had seen the dog in the yard in the past and decided to take him although she didn’t have the funds to have him seen immediately seen by a vet. Also, Chloe noticed that Atlas has been losing his fur. We have authorized Atlas to be treated for the fur loss, vaccinated, tested, and neutered. Chloe and her family will be giving Atlas a permanent, loving home. – diana

CANNOLI & QUESO

When I was working at emergency, back in 2011, a pup named Cannoli was surrendered to me because he had liver damage and the owners were going to euthanize. I found him a wonderful home and he is doing great. Then, a few months ago another white chihuahua was found on the street and in horrible neglected condition, his name is Queso. 4 Paws 1 Heart covered all medical for both of these survivors. Please consider donating today. Cannoli and Queso were given a 2nd chance to live their best life. They are getting along well. Queso has a series of medical problems but his rescue family is committed. Gina

3 OR 4 KITTENS NEEDING FUREVER HOMES

12/15/23 – Take a look at these Sweeties. Tabasco, Kimchi, Wasabi, and Nutmeg. The rescuer, Joanne, was contacted by her aunt who advised that these sweet babies had been wandering around her neighbor’s house and the neighbor could not take them in. Joanne has experience with kittens and TNR so she trapped them all and now has them safely in her home. Then yesterday, complements of our donors, they were tested for fiv/felv and received their first distemper. In about 3-4 weeks they will get their booster and rabies and then neutered/spayed. Although one may have a potential adopter, the others will need a furever home. If you are interested, please contact Joanne at: [email protected] – diana.

DISCO

12/15/23 – It was at the end of November when Jordan realized a stray she had been feeding outdoors had been attacked by a dog. She thought the leg was broken and the paw had two severe wounds. He was taken to our partner veterinary hospital, Five Mile Animal Hospital, where it was found that there were no breaks in the paw or leg but that the wounds were infected. Disco was treated for the infections and authorization was given for vaccines, testing, and neuter once the infections were cleared. While Disco was still recovering from the wound infections, he contracted a UTI and again visited our veterinary doctor who treated Disco for that. This past Wednesday, Disco was neutered, vaccinated, and tested negative for fiv/felv. Yesterday, Jordan reported that Disco is doing great and will be staying with her friend for the next month or so and then may be looking for his furever home. We have offered our courtesy petfind site and Friends of 4 Paws 1 Heart page to help find this very sweet boy a loving home if she can’t find one. – diana

SPROCKET

12/14/23 – Last week we were contacted regarding a 5-month old puppy who had been seen wandering the streets for a couple of days near a liquor store. The store’s owner contacted the police in an attempt to find the owner. The police officer could not find any identification and an owner couldn’t be found so the officer turned the puppy over to Make A Difference for safe keeping while he remained on stray hold. Make a Difference said they had a couple of leads but nothing came of them and now the stray hold is up. We were asked to pay for Sprocket’s neuter and we were glad to help this great rescue and beautiful animal. Sprocket is looking for his furever home and if you are interested, please contact Make A Difference Rescue.

The need never ends and it now seems to be worse than it’s been in the 13+ years we’ve been in existence. We can only suggest that the state of the economy has resulted in many more animals being abandoned because of the understandably higher cost of vet care and food and when the animals are on the streets, they get hit by cars, abused, and contract many diseases. Everyone is feeling overwhelmed but we are all trying to do the best we can under the circumstances. That is why your donations are so important and why, although we still have limited funds, we want to do what we can to at least stop the reproduction, the diseases resulting from being unvaccinated, and some of the minor illnesses and injuries which cause the animal to suffer. Thank you for your help; every dollar counts. – diana

DEWEY UPDATE

12/13/23 – It was late August, 2023 when Dewey was seen wandering around an apartment complex. When of the tenants took him in, had him scanned for a chip (there was none), and tried to find his owner. The rescuer’s mom had worked in rescue with another friend of 4 paws 1 heart, so she contacted us for medical assistance. Dewey tested negative for fiv/felv, received his rabies/distemper vaccines, and was neutered but he did have parasites which resulted in a few visits to the veterinary hospital. His last visit was in mid November. I checked in with the rescuer’s mom and learned that her daughter decided to keep Dewey and he is doing great. Another happy beginning. – Diana
