LENA & SELENA RESCUED BECAUSE OF YOU NOW NEED A HOME

6/8/23 – In late March, 2023 Make a Difference Animal Rescue contacted us asking for help in completing Lena and Selena’s heart worm treatments. They are 9 and 10 years old and we were thankful to help then. A couple of days ago we were again contacted because both dogs were found with mammary tumors. Surgery was performed yesterday and we were happy to help with that. Anyone interested in these very sweet dogs who lived a lifetime in a cage, should contact Make A Difference Animal Rescue https://www.facebook.com/MakeADifferenceRescue/. They are a very caring rescue where they put their rescues first before their own personal needs and we are thankful that we have the funds to assist. And, that’s because of YOU!! – diana

TREZZA

6/7/23 – Trezza was rescued from the streets and the finder thought she had a broken jaw. A friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart responded to a post and contacted us about assisting. Trezza was taken to a vet we work with and it was determined that the jaw was not broken but that Trezza had a severely abscessed tooth and a severe upper respiratory infection. She was treated for both and scheduled for the tooth extraction and the dental cleaning and exam. The doctor did see ‘something’ under her chin but wanted to wait until all of the treatment could have a chance to set in. Unfortunately, Trezza continued to have the lump on the back of her jaw and was seen again. The doctor suspects it could be cancer. Trezza is eating good and gaining weight and Kim has decided to care for this very sweet 7-8 year old as long as she needs. 4 Paws 1 Heart will also be there if a further medical visit is needed. – diana

CRANBERRY, CORNBREAD AND CROUTON

6/6/23 – And I thought the world was overflowing with kittens this past winter and Spring — I should have known better!! Cranberry, Cornbread, and Crouton were found hiding under a porch after their mother was run over by a car. These poor babies were about 5 weeks old. A friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart took them in and they will be getting fully vetted through 4 Paws 1 Heart and then available for adoption. They are adorable and would bring a lot of joy to the purrfect home. If interested, contact Andrea at: [email protected] – diana

MILLIE AND MYA

6/5/23 – Millie and Mya were found on the east side of Detroit. They were dumped on the side of the road along with their dead dog friend who was in a garbage bag. The finder assumes that one (Mya) was beaten because her face was swollen and bruised. The other (Millie) just had some scrapes. Both females. Mya needed to be seen asap, so we were able to get both into Groesbeck Animal Hospital where they both received treatment for their wounds and were tested for heart worm. Unfortunately, Mya was found positive for heart worm. They both had a follow up visit today. Mya will receive heart worm treatment at Patterson Veterinary Hospital and both Mya and Millie will be fully vaccinated spayed there as appropriate. Although, 4 Paws 1 Heart is covering all of their medical care, Mya and Millie’s placement and fostering will be through Paws, Awes, and Claws Rescue. – diana.

LITTLE JIMMY, BABY BOO BOO, MOM & MAYBE MORE

6/5/23 – Last Friday I was contacted about Little Jimmy (pink nose), he is one of a litter of kittens found near a home in Mt. Clemens, MI. The finder reported that the kittens may be about 5-6 weeks old and all appear to have crusted eyes but he was only able to catch one, Little Jimmy. Little Jimmy was taken that same day to one of our partner vets where he was treated for a severe upper respiratory infection. This morning, the finder gave an update that Little Jimmy was already looking much better and he had caught another of the babies, Baby Boo Boo, who looked in even worse shape and couldn’t seem to use his back legs. Again, we were able to get Baby Boo Boo into the same vet but unfortunately, the baby’s condition was much worse than an upper respiratory infection; he had a broken spine. The finder chose to have Baby Boo Boo humanely euthanized. He is now trying to trap the mom so that she no longer has to give birth again. And if more kittens are found, we will do what is needed.

RIP Baby Boo Boo and wishing Little Jimmy a loved life. – diana

NOT A GREAT WAY TO START THE MONTH

6/1/23 – But i wanted to at least recognize this poor baby who suffered too long. I saw the post and said we could cover the medical if someone would take responsibility for the cat. This cat was in Monrrose, Mi, and, unfortunately, my knowledge of the area let alone local vets is non-existent. A person we’ve worked with in the past said she would jump in. Bottom line — we were in contact most of the evening to get this poor cat into a vet. It turned out she had been laying in the streets under a car for a number of days but no one would step up to help. When the cat was picked up by a transporter she was in a bin, maggots were coming out of her body and flies covered her. Had we known earlier the condition of this poor baby, I would have directed the cat to be taken to the nearest clinic to be put out of her suffering. But instead, we didn’t know. After a long ride, she arrived at our partner emergency hospital where she was allowed to peacefully cross the Rainbow Bridge. I detail this because sometimes we just have to let an animal who is suffering go. It’s not rescue, when there is no hope; it’s up to us to make that difficult decision. God bless all who tried, it was heartbreaking for everyone. I just wish someone early on had taken her to a vet even if it meant euthanasia early on instead of what she went through. RIP little one. – diana
