Our mission is to reduce the number of homeless cats & dogs by paying for needed medical treatment and assisting with the permanent placement of these animals through our partnerships with local rescue groups.
He was surrendered twice that we know of and he is 17 years old. Poor guy has bouced around and his current rescuer has opened her heart and home for this senior. 4 Paws 1 Heart offered to have Charlie evaluated. The doctors at Moore Veterinary Hospital discovered that this boy has an enlarged heart and beginning stages of heart disease. He also has increased liver enzymes and some decreased tear production. He will need long term heart medication to help the conductivity of his heart and some artificial tears to manage the dry eye. He’s been started on heartworm prevention along with some baseline bloodwork, x rays, and urine. We wish Charlie all the best on his new journey and are happy to play a role in his rescue journey. We were contacted by a woman who feeds a colony of outdoor cats. This guy showed up about 6 months ago and she’d been trying to get him in to be seen because he appeared in need of medical attention. Over time, he became noticeably worse and she was able to secure him for an exam yesterday with Moore Veterinary Hospital.
Jack was very sick. He was thin, dehydrated, pale, and tested positive for feline leukemia. Humane euthanasia was decided to prevent further suffering. Thank you those like Dawn who don’t turn a blind eye to sick homeless animals. It’s because of your support and everyone coming together that we can help one animal at a time. Gina.
4/14/23 – He showed up on the finder’s porch very hungry and the family couldn’t let him leave in that condition; he appeared to be a very good dog. The kids came up with the name ‘Daisy’. Mr.Daisy was in very rough condition, his nails were so long they were imbedded into his paws and his nail beds are infected. His leg appeared injured and required x rays. Mr. Daisy’s body is riddled with old and new scars and he has an injury to his eye. HIs rescuers took him in and got him to a vet where they were given an estimate of what care would be needed and the cost. the blood work indicated anemia and infection. Unfortunately, they could only cover a portion of what was needed to begin his recovery and that is when we were contacted. Mr. Daisy was taken to our great doctors at Orion Animal Hospital, where he was thoroughly examined. Blood work was again done to determine the level of infection. Mr. Daisy was prescribed additional medications but could not be vaccinated because of his condition. The doctor will be seeing him again in two weeks to check on his infections and skin condition. He is doing very well with the family and they are committed to getting him healthy. – diana.
4/12/23 – Peter and Lil Girl are two of dozens of stray and abandoned cats who have been recently rescued by friends of 4p1h. We are thankful we can cover their vaccinations and spay/neuter because of our partnership with All About Animals Rescue and the many independent rescuers. – diana.
4/12/23 – Lady was on the schedule to be euthanized when his rescuer learned of his fate. She couldn’t stand the thought and immediately went to the shelter and rescued her from certain death. The rescuer hoped that she could find a rescue or furever home for Lady but after a couple of months the only person who was interested wanted to use her for breeding but that wasn’t going to happen. The rescuer contacted us for help and although we could not offer placement, we did offer medical treatment that could get Lady ready for adoption. The rescuer accepted the offer and Lady is scheduled for her heart worm test, vaccines, and spay. Lady is a beauty and she loves to snuggle. Unfortunately, due to serious health issues in the home, Lady cannot be cared for as she deserves. 4/10/23 – He showed up, fortunately, on a very kind family’s patio. Chong’s leg was bloody and some of the skin had been torn off (the photo shown is the least graphic for posting). The homeowner immediately took him to a veterinary hospital where he was found FIV/FelV negative but the doctor recommended amputating the leg at a very high cost. That is when we were contacted by the finder and, shortly after, by rescue group who we’ve worked with on many occasions. Chong was taken to the rescue group’s veterinary partner and we were asked to help. Chong’s injury was called an avulsion or degloving. “The condition can be as dramatic and life-threatening as severe burns. It happens when a large section of skin is forcibly removed. It is an injury that severs blood vessels and nerves and damages underlying structures. Degloving injuries are most prevalent on the tail or limbs of cats but can also happen on the trunk or face.”
Chong went through surgery which was covered by 4 Paws 1 Heart. He remained in the hospital for quite a few days. When he finally was released, he wound up back at the vet; this went on a few times. Finally, Chong was ready to have his stitches out but when he returned to the hospital for removal of his stitches it was discovered that his skin had opened up again. This was on March 22. The doctor recommended stapling the skin and scheduled another appointment for 2 weeks later. The doctor, though, was pleased with the healing progress and felt he could return in two weeks for a final visit. As of today, Chong is doing well and has an appointment April 22 for his neuter. This little guy has gone through heck (as has his rescuer) but the rescue family loves him and after all of his care, will be making him a permanent member of their home.
This is the time of the year when we are faced with severe injuries and illnesses. We are just thankful beyond words that we have so many generous individuals and businesses who continue to make a difference. – diana.

With 12,000 fans, Chance the cat is one popular guy, whose owner gives Chance a “voice” to give his fans an uplifting message each day.
4/8/23 – Patches was rescued during a frigid snowstorm in January. The wonderful couple took Patches to their veterinary doctor where Patches was vaccinated and had blood work done. He was also treated for fleas, ear mites, and stomach parasites. As with most good Samaritans who find themselves in the position of saving an animal, the medical expense was an unexpected hit to their budget and Patches still needed to be neutered. That is when they contacted us. We were very happy to pay for Patches to be neutered and yesterday I received an update. Patches is no longer spraying (as was happening before the neuter). Although he has his own room, he does have run of the house. Although the family cat, Bella, has told him in so many terms that she is the ‘boss’, BUT she is willing to become friends. 4/6/23 – Malade was released from Advance Emergency Hospital yesterday along with her babies. The rescuer was able to find a rescue, Happy APaws Haven, where mom and babies will be taken. A Board member of the rescue is experience with newborns just in case Malade is unable to nurse her babies. Thanks to all who have donated to help with the family’s medical bills. – diana.
