REST IN HEAVEN SWEET GUS (AKA BLAZ)

3/6/24 – It was March 26, 2019 when we were contacted about this very sweet boy who found his way into the yard of a very kind woman whom we had helped in the past, Alanda. He was taken to one of our partner vets where he was found positive for heart worm. His treatment started immediately. By the end of May, 2019 Blaz had received all of his heart worm treatment, was neutered, vaccinated and ready for adoption. Thankfully, a wonderful couple and follower of 4 Paws 1 Heart read Blaz’s story and fell in love with him. He was adopted and became Gus. They all moved to a northern city in Michigan where Blaz became Gus, lived like a king and even got ‘married’ (haha). Yesterday we learned that our very sweet Gus passed away. Please remember Gus’s mom and dad in your prayers and be thankful for all of the amazing people in our communities that work together to save the most vulnerable. – diana

BLAZE

3/6/24 – On February 23 we were contacted about a cat, Blaze, who was found in a neighboring yard with severe injuries to his face and legs. Blaze was taken to Eaton County Humane Society and was seen by Dr. Diana. He had 5 abscessed wounds on his head and one abscessed wound on his leg. All were treated and today Blaze is doing great per his finder. – diana

ATHENA & CALLIOPE BONDED AND ZEUS LOOKING FOR FUREVER HOMES

3/6/24 – In August, 2023 Athena was one of 3 kittens dumped in Jennifer’s neighbor’s backyard. Athena had a very deep wound in her neck which was filled with maggots, she also had a broken tail. The other two kittens were not injured. 4 Paws 1 Heart paid for all of their medical needs which included the usual spay/neuter, vaccines, testing, but Athena needed treatment for the deep neck wound and a partial amputation of her tail. As you can see, everyone is fully recovered. Athena and Calliope are very bonded and their rescuer, who is fostering for Happy Feet Pet Rescue, is looking for that very special home for both of them; they are still a little shy. Zeus is also looking for his furever home. Here are photos from when everyone was first rescued and today. If you are interested, please contact Jennifer at: [email protected] – diana

REST IN PEACE CLAUDIA

What we thought was pain from her deformity developed into a steady decline after her appointment. Claudia began exhibiting neurological behavior and she could not walk or stand on her own. She was suffering and so the kindest and hardest decision was made to end her pain. Please keep her rescuer in your thoughts and prayers. Susan bottle raised, provided food, shelter, and cared for Claudia and her 2 sisters after they were found in a cat colony 7 months ago. She adopted out the 2 other girls and she was committed from the start. We are so sorry for her loss but gratefulfor people like her who do everything they can to help the homeless. Gina

BUCKY & BAILEY

3/4/24 – Elizabeth R. saw a post about two puppies in Flint who were living under horrible conditions. There was one shelter and 3 adult dogs had already froze to death. The rescues were all full so Elizabeth offered to take in Bucky and Bailey to foster and eventually find adopters. The first photo is how the two puppies were found. They were both very emaciated. Elizabeth got the two healthy and then sought assistance for their medical. She found a group who pays for spay/neuter but not vaccines and other testing. So, tomorrow we will be covering vaccines and heart worm testing when the puppies are neutered at the Humane Society of St. Clair. Anyone interested in adopting should contact Elizabeth at: [email protected] – diana

I want to say a special THANK YOU to 4paws 1heart for your generosity to help with these 2 puppies I am fostering. It was such a blessing and a relief now that they are medically up to date with all the protective measures in place. I honestly didn’t know how I was going to accomplish this when I agreed to take them in. As it was split decision when no other help was to be found for them. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for all the help you do for the helpless animals Bucky and Bailey are recovering and resting peacefully since their spay/neuter this morning. It was a long day for them.Thank you again! – Elizabeth

CLAUDIA

3/2 Update

Claudia is knuckeling under with her other front leg. Now we suspect there might be more going on. We dispensed 7 days of pain meds and want her to have strict crate rest. We are not going to jump into amputation without knowing that it is the cause of her pain. The rescuer will keep us updated. Gina

Claudia is one of the several requests for help we receive daily. She was from a litter of 3 females born outside and homeless. A kind woman stepped up to bottle feed all of them while noticing right away that this kitten had a deformity in the front paw. That didn’t stop Claudia from thriving but she is in pain, and not putting weight on that foot anymore. We offered to have her examined by one of our doctors at Moore Veterinary Hospital. She had to be anesthetized for a complete exam and radiographs. The doctors feel that she is hurting from maybe jumping and landing on that foot. Right now we tried a pain injection and rest to see if she feels better, but after an update today, it sounds like she is still in pain. Claudia is very small and pain med options for cats are limited. We are suspecting that she may need amputation of that paw to give her comfort, but she is still so little. We are working on figuring out a plan. If you would like to help please go to this link and put her name in the notes. I’ll update once we know more. Thank you! Gina
