3/22/25 – I’d like to share a happy update today. This is the email I received from the rescuer after helping with a stray who had frostbite from the brutal cold whether we had this year. Gina
“Jefferson is a 9 year old feral cat who lives outside of my family bar and restaurant (Andrews on the corner) in downtown Detroit. I used to live above the bar and have been feeding him since 2018. In the last year he went from totally feral, to friendly enough to let me pet him and pick him up. After the most recent winter storm we had, I noticed the end of his tail looked like it had frostbite and the very tip had already started to die. I took him to Platz vet where they told me he would need to have part of his tail amputated. I reached out to 4 paws 1 heart and they were so incredibly generous to help pay for his surgery. Jefferson was my first cat TNR cat and he is very special to me. Jefferson’s surgery went great and he’s adjusting perfectly to only having 3/4 of his tail. He and I are forever grateful for Gina and 4 paws 1 heart for making this surgery possible.”
