8/3/25: Proof that animals have feelings. These brothers have shut down and are withdrawn. The owner surrendered his cats yesterday and they are with a temporary foster, so that they were not euthanized or dumped. Bennett and Beaux are brothers who are 1.5 years old and have lived together since babies. The owner is moving and did not want to take them.
He tried throwing them outside but they would not leave the porch. He brought them to the vet on Thursday and fortunately the vet refused to euthanize 2 healthy young cats.
They have had zero medical care and will need exams, vaccines, fecals, neutering, and bloodwork. I reached out to a couple of our passionate board members for a solution and they immediately got in the car to go get these 2 cats out of the home.
This morning Beaux and Bennett were completely withdrawn, won’t leave the litter box, the black one pulled all of the blankets into the cage overnight and the other will not even lift his head or open his eyes. We don’t know all of the details leading to this decision and I prefer NO NEGATIVE comments or judgment because right now all that matters is finding someone to give them a chance at a better life. At least the owner was willing to give them up.
4 Paws 1 Heart will be paying for ALL medical needed to get them current and assure they’re healthy. Please donate and please share. They are located in St. Clair Shores. Email contact is Aimee.4paws1heart@gmail.com
8/1/25: Sunshine Cupcake was found outside and with an infected wound underneath the side of her face. We were able to cover the cost of her hospital visit and her rescuer found her a forever home. No more fear, hunger, or pain. She is on to a healthy happy life!
7/31/25 Surgery Update: It was a really rough morning for little Twiggy. The dead skin was removed and the doctor did not feel amputation was necessary at this point. This is a really bad spot to have a wound because it’s right inside the bend of the knee. I will be doing daily bandages for another two weeks. If you would like to help donate towards his care, please go to our link and put “Twiggy” under special instructions. We have not even begun to start his vaccinations and he will still need to be neutered and it adds up fast.
7/30/25 Update: Twiggy’s surgery is tomorrow morning. Please keep Twiggy in your prayers as he is scheduled for surgery in the morning to debride and assess the wound that I have been treating for almost 3 weeks. He is such a sweet boy who has already been through so much in a short time.
7/24/25 Update: Tomorrow marks two weeks since I was contacted about his injury to see if 4 Paws 1 Heart could help. After removing the maggot larva and fleas, I offered to take him home for nursing care until better. The damage to the leg was more severe than I thought and the wound is complex wrapping around the inside and outside of his rear leg.
Twiggy is scheduled for surgery on the 31st of this month where the wound will be explored under anesthesia to see the extent of the damage. This has been hard on him, but he is on pain meds and antibiotics while getting tons of love as we do our best.
My coworkers and friends have helped with the bandage changes and my husband has been a supportive as always for understanding my passion for animals.
Twiggy will be ok, it’s just going to take time. This is what our organization is all about…helping the sick and injured stray animals and giving them a chance that would not exist if not for our supporters.
Please keep the healing prayers coming and please donate if you want to help Twiggy. Thank you.

7/17/25 Update: I guess it gets worse before it gets better 😓 Twiggy is my current medical foster. He was found this past Friday deeply wedged in a bush so badly his leg was mangled. The skin is starting to slough off from lack of blood supply to the area caught in the branches. I couldn’t say no to helping him. We removed all fly larvae and fleas. I took him home to do bandages twice a day and I take him back and forth to work with me. He’s on antibiotics, pain meds, probiotics, and getting love that he so desperately needs. Please keep Twiggy in your prayers. He needs positive thoughts and prayers to heal!
7/14/25 Update: The little guy that I took home on Saturday, found wedged inside of a bush is getting a little stronger every day. As you can see by the photos, his toes are still very swollen, his skin is discolored, there is some seeping and concern for the skin coming off where it was strangulated.
He does not need me to syringe feed anymore and he is putting some weight on his toes. He had lots of diarrhea yesterday and needed a few baths. Today, I will bring him in for a recheck, get him on some probiotics, check a poop sample, and see what the doctor says. We are praying his skin doesn’t slough off because that could mean daily bandages for a really long time.

7/12/25: I got an emergency email this morning about a kitten who was weaved so deep inside of a shrub it took multiple people to cut him free and he needed help asap. I got him in to Moore Veterinary Hospital first thing. His leg and paw are very swollen, x-rays didn’t show any obvious breaks but the biggest concern right now is that there’s a large area of skin that is discolored from not getting enough blood supply after being strangulated.
It took me over an hour to remove the thousands and thousands of fly larva covering his leg while removing countless fleas. This tiny boy is only 1.7 pounds. I decided to take him home from the hospital and try to get him stabilized over the weekend. He is getting syringe feedings, antibiotics, pain medication, anti inflammatory topical, rest, and love.
If his rescuer, Randi-Jo didn’t get him to us, I think this would be a completely different post. She and her husband worked tirelessly to get this baby to safety and they were up all night making sure he was alive. Thank you to everyone involved. Please keep him in your prayers because he definitely needs them. I am calling him “Twiggy” and he is beyond exhausted.
7/31/25: July has been an extremely busy month with people finding sick, injured, and homeless stray animals. It was nearly impossible to keep up and also heartbreaking because we can not help every single stray.
I have also noticed a steady increase in people giving up animals. It’s very sad. This little kitten named Iris was found in a yard sickly, goopy eyes, sneezing, full of fleas, ear mites, and lethargic.
The neighbor was willing to take the kitten in but needed help getting her checked by a vet. We authorized her to be seen right away and she was treated for everything.
When she is over the infections we will get her current on vaccinations.
Iris is one of the many that needed us. Please donate if you can so we are able to help more orphans like this sweet baby.
7/29/25: Mr. Magoo was one of several kittens “dug out of the bottom of the apartments kitchen cupboard. They all had a black tarry substance on their eyes.”
One sibling died and this kitten’s eyes were bulging and wasn’t able to close them all the way. We offered to have him seen by a vet to evaluate his eyes and provided treatment. He went to that visit and was dispensed medications and I will follow up to see how he is doing.
7/25/25: These 3 little orphan kittens were rescued from a woman who found them in the woods and raised them as bottle babies. She reached out to us for help with vetting so they would have a better chance of adoption. We had them all fixed and vaccinated. Here is an updated pic of each of these cuties.

7/24/25: A Ring camera captured an injured stray. They are calling him Gus. He was seen limping on their camera and we were contacted for help to assess the injury. We approved exam and x-rays at West Flint Animal Hospital. The rescuer trapped Gus and made an appointment to get him in right away. Gus is unable to flex his elbow and they suspect an anconeal injury causing lack of mobility. He was sent on pain meds, rest, and anti-inflammatory. He was vaccinated and checked for fiv/felv. He was healthy per the doctor.
After two weeks the injury remains the same. Now Gus needs to see an orthopedic doctor but the quote is $1000-$1500 for a CT and consult. Gus also does not have a home and he was a cat that was neutered and released at some point because he has a tipped ear.
The rescuer deeply cares for Gus and she is trying to explore all options. This is the very sad part of stray cats. They get injured and sick. I wish we could help all of them.
7/23/25: Hiro was found by a woman who cares for outside cats. He showed up with a wound on his face that appeared infected. Carolyn was very worried and contacted us for help. We authorized treatment for the injury, neutering, and vaccines over at Five Mile Vet. They surgically repaired the wound and Hiro is now up to date on vaccines. He is a very sweet cat and is in need of a home or a rescue.
If you can help this poor guy please let me know and I will give you the contact info for Carolyn.
7/17/25: Bandit is only about 11 weeks old and weighs 3 pounds. The person who found and rescued her took her to the hospital and was quoted about $2,000 to remove the eye. This is not an expense the rescuer could afford so she emailed us for help. We are working on a way to help Bandit get the care she needs. The doctor prescribed eye medication and will recheck in a couple weeks. If there is no improvement then we will talk about surgery options.
7/16/25: A pregnant stray had a litter and we are covering the spay and neutering along with the vaccines on these two sweet kittens and mom. The rescuer has placed almost everyone. If you are interested in more information about Luna, Ralphie, or Remy, I can give you her email contact.
