9/10/25: After the mom passed away and the dad was put in hospice, Stanley was thrown out to fend for himself. He was an indoor-only cat that would likely not survive on his own. A kind person who knew the family went and rescued the cat and then contacted us for help because Stanley was in need of medical care.
We approved Stanley to be taken to Orion Veterinary Hospital where they treated him for skin and ear infections, but the bigger problem is that his mouth is in terrible need of dental work–he has trouble eating. The family wasn’t expecting the costly financial work Stanley requires as the dental is around $900.
We have covered the initial visit and will assist with the dental but we really could use your monetary help if we are to offer more assistance towards the dental.
9/9/25: This kitten was picked up off the street by a caring husband and wife who stopped to help. They kept the kitten warm and fed while reaching out for assistance with funding. We approved an exam and x-rays at Orion Veterinarian Hospital to determine what was going on. Unfortunately, he has a fractured pelvis but the doctor did not think he needed surgery at this time. He was given pain meds and flea treatment. Later he was eating sitting up and drinking. The most important thing is that he can use the bathroom. 😉
9/1/25: I will never understand the act of animal cruelty. This little girl named “Lucy” was thrown in a dumpster. This was an intentional act of abuse and all I know is that she is safe.
She was seen by a vet last week testing positive for fleas, worms, crusty nose, mucous in eyes, and a sore on her neck.
The next visit, we will help with getting her vaccinations started. She will understand that not all humans are bad. We are thankful for the good Samaritans and rescuers out there who truly help make a difference.
8/22/25: Our hearts hurt but our memories are held close as we mourn the loss of a brave courageous cat named Soup.
I remember like yesterday, it was a rainy night in 2013 when I received a call from a woman at the Animal Urgent Care regarding a homeless cat found outside with his head stuck in a soup can. She put his terrified body in her minivan and rushed him in.
When she arrived, I went outside jumped in the van to secure him and transport him inside to the hospital where we used sedation to cut the can off of his head. We quickly discovered more injuries on his body consisting of pelvic fractures, punctures, and a broken femur suggesting he was attacked while he couldn’t defend himself.
That night, he was surrendered to me for care. After several months of recovery and 1 yr as a foster in my home, an angel named Mary Beth Victor and her family came to his rescue, opening up their hearts and home to give him what became the best 12 years of his life.
During his adventurous history, Soup managed to escape one time and it took 141 days to reunite him with his family. They slept outside, turned the city inside out putting up signs, using social media and rewards, searching high and low, captured multiple cats in the process, endless tears, weeks of sleepless nights, but they NEVER gave up looking for him. Thankfully he had a microchip which ultimately identified him.
On Monday August 18th 2025, Soup was brought into the hospital because he wasn’t himself. Several tests revealed Diabetic Ketoacidosis and kidney failure. He was very sick and in order to alleviate his suffering the painful aching decision was made to humanely euthanize and give him peace.
Soup was a “lover boy”. He loved his family and they adored him. The joy and companionship he brought was indescribable. As his family moves forward with each passing day the emptiness and the sadness weighs heavy on their hearts. They reflect on the memories, those whispers in his ear telling him “you were the best boy – the goodest of good”, sleeping and snuggling beside Marybeth, sitting on her lap, greeting everyone that came over, and every day thanking God for bringing him back home after his journey.
These are only a few of the memories that they hold tight.
Soup was strong, he was brave, he was loyal, he was happy, and he was special.
“I’m glad that I was there to hold him one last time, give him one last kiss, be there for his family, and comfort him during his final moments.” -Gina
Deeply missed. Never forgotten and always loved. Soup is a testament of what our mission is about. He was given a second chance and the impact that he had, the mark that he left, it is unmeasurable.
8/20/25: A couple weeks ago we were contacted about Maverick – a local stray that looked really sick. While at his visit, the doctor called me to say that this boy was so critical that the options were aggressive immune suppressing dose of steroids for several weeks wth no guarantee or humane euthanasia. The rescuer was committed to providing medical treatment and giving this stray a fighting chance. It’s been almost 2 weeks and he has shown some improvement.
Maverick would have died without care. Donations = Lives Saved.
8/18/25 UPDATE: Remember Rusty, found abandoned and unable to eat? He has made significant improvement since his major dental procedure at Moore veterinary hospital. Unfortunately the rescuer cannot keep him and with each passing day he is craving love and attention from someone who has the time to give him.
Rusty tested FIV positive, but that is not a death sentence. He is doing great, he just has a more sensitive immune system.
Rusty needs a forever place to call HOME. Together, we were able to get him better please share and together we will find his FUREVER.
Just a friendly reminder that every dollar you donate through August 31, 2025 is being matched up $1,000.
Your Monetary Gift = Their Second Chance
7/29/5: Rusty needed 9 teeth extracted. A couple weeks ago I posted about this cat who had been found in Dearborn. The rescuer took him in for neutering and vaccination. He tested positive for FIV and the doctor recommended extractions because he was drooling constantly and had trouble eating food.
The rescuer was willing to keep him indoor and find him a forever home once he is better. He is one of the sweetest cats I have ever seen. Rusty had his dental yesterday, he was able to get his diseased teeth removed, full mouth x rays, and he went home on pain medication and antibiotics. We are expecting him to feel much better in a few days.
We could not have helped Rusty without your support and donations to our organizations. A dental is very involved and not all hospitals can provide the service. He was under anesthesia for over 2 hours and this was a major procedure. We are grateful that Moore veterinary hospital was able to do this procedure.
8/17/25: Squeegie is currently with Streethearts Animal Rescue. This baby had amputation surgery August 7th because of a terrible injury to his foot. 4 Paws 1 Heart donated $500 towards his procedure and it’s because of you that we are able to help rescue groups with cases like Squeegie.
Please remember that all donations up to $1,000 are matched until August 31st. Please help us reach our goal.
8/13/23: This ONE-POUND orphan baby was found on Zug Island all alone when a worker found her. Skinny, hungry, and crying for help, he took her home and his girlfriend contacted us for advice going forward. We offered to help with the vetting, tail amputation, and eventually she will be spayed. Her name is “Munchkin” and she’s a feisty little girl! Right now she has a cone on to prevent more damage to the tip of her tail that has bone exposed. She is getting antibiotics, pain meds and bandages for the injury. Please keep this baby in your prayers for a full healing and healthy future.
8/12/25 UPDATE: Snappy was released and she is in recovery from her amputation surgery. Thank you Misfit Angels Rescue for helping her get the care she needs and thank you to our supporters who helped us contribute to this rescue mission. <3
8/8/25: Snappy is scheduled for surgery this morning. Our friends who operate Misfit Angels Rescue took in this kitty with a severely injured leg. We offered help towards the cost of amputation surgery and surgery is set for this morning. Please keep this baby in your prayers as this is a major surgery–but she will not be in pain anymore! Thank you, Misfit Angels for getting her the help she needs. <3
8/11/25: This sweet kitten was found with a ruptured eye that needed to be removed. The rescuer called everywhere and was quoted $2000 for surgery. She was going to surrender the kitten to the shelter or humane society because she could not afford treatment, and she didn’t want this baby to suffer any longer.
She reached out to us as a last option and we offered to help cover the cost of surgery. Bandit was seen at Moore Vet Hospital where her eye was surgically removed last week.
