11/14/24 – Meadow and Mosey were found on the streets in Flushing. Their rescuer said they were very sweet and loving and wanted to find them a furever home but couldn’t afford their vetting. As you can see, one of them had what appeared to be an eye infection. They were authorized to be treated at All About Animals in Flint. – diana

11/13/24 – This is the second case that we would not have been able to significantly help without the donation from our amazing supporter. *Meet King, a Miraculous Survivor* who was rescued by our friends at Make A Difference Rescue.
King, is an 11-month-old puppy. He was abandoned outside after being deemed too big. His harsh solitude ended when he was rescued but the journey was just beginning. Initial vet checks revealed the need for neutering and vaccinations, but unforeseen complications arose. King’s health took a dire turn, vomiting a brown liquid, leading the rescue to rush him to the vet. X-rays exposed bone fragments lodged in his intestinal tract, requiring emergency surgery.
The bill was significant and we are thankful we could help with some of the bill and also very grateful that King was rescued in time, saving him from a tragic fate. This sweet boy endured unimaginable hardship in just 11 months. His story highlights the plight of discarded pets. UPDATE: After undergoing intense surgery yesterday to remove the lodged bone from his intestines, King remains under observation.

11/13/24 – Because of a very generous donation by a long-time supporter, we have been able to help with two significant cases we were contacted about. This case is about 40+ cats/kittens in Clair County, MI. The rescuer, Laura, contacted us to see if we could help with her project. She was able to get low cost spay/neuter from a kind veterinarian at the Clair County Animal Shelter. 4 Paws 1 Heart is helping with 20 cats and are very thankful that the overwhelming population of unwanted cats can be lessened because of this project and the caring people involved.
Please, if you have friends/family who have NOT spayed/neutered their cats, please share this post. Something like this can occur in less than a year from just one female and one male mating. A female cat can start producing at 4 months old and can have 3 litters a year. One intact female can produce an average of 15 cats annually; if just half of that amount are females, they will then go on to repeat this very sad situation.

11/12/24 – Binx (also known as Gizmo) followed the rescuer’s young son while he was walking home. We were asked to help with his testing, vaccines, and neuter and we were thankful to help. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/
11/12/24 – We were contacted by a volunteer for a local rescue and the coordinator for a municipal shelter regarding a dog, Bo, who was found on the streets and taken into the shelter but his eyes needed medical attention.
The coordinator found a family to adopt Bo and they promised to have his eyes treated but when they found out the cost, they brought him back to the shelter. Both the shelter and the local rescue did not have funds to cover what turns out to be surgery for entropion of both eyes. We were contacted for help. Thankfully, we are able to help Bo and he will have his surgery at Orion Animal Hospital.
As we’ve discussed several times, without treatment, this condition is very painful and an animal will go blind if surgery is not performed. Prayers for a successful surgery and that Bo finds his furever loving home. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/
11/7/24 – Happy Update! Nymeria, Ripley, and Sid were all found at different times during this past winter and summer, wandering the streets and needing our help. Here is their happy update from their rescuer, Jessica:
“Nymeria was spayed yesterday and she is recovering perfectly she has found her forever home with a wonderful couple from Harrison Township that have an older cat and a dog and she is living her best life. Ripley has had an inquiry on petfinder and I am very hopeful that this will be a good fit, the woman works with rescues and has a house not to far from me with no cats and 1 dog. I have invited her to come over and meet Ripley in person and she is sending me her references and a home walk through video this week so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Sid is doing wonderful and I am so impressed with how far he has come, a nice woman from Grand Rapids who lives alone with her senior cat has told me that when he is ready she is very interested in being his forever home. I am so thankful for all of your help. I love all of these babies and it has been so wonderful helping them. – Jessica”

11/7/24 – Zorro is one of three 5-6-week old kittens eventually rescued by Kelly R. His crusty eyes were treated and they are now doing better and he has successfully been tested, vaccinated, and neutered. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/
11/5/24 – On October 11 I posted about Gizmo who was rescued in early September with another kitten, Baby Girl. Their rescuer, Barbara, was feeding the ‘ferals’ and these two stole her heart. Barbara asked for our help to have the cats tested, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered.
The one cat, Gizmo, seemed to have an eye infection, so he was first seen at Groesbeck Animal Hospital, so he could be treated quickly. Then Gizmo and Baby Girl went to Rescue Veterinary Hospital for full vetting, but the doctor recommended Gizmo be seen by a specialist. Well, two of the best doctors for eyes whom we know are Dr. Blasses and Dr. Zalac at Orion Animal Hospital. Dr. Blasses saw Gizmo the other day and diagnosed entropion of his one eye. This is a very pain condition which can cause blindness if left untreated. Gizmo’s surgery is being scheduled.- Diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/
11/5/24 – We were contacted by a caring woman, very involved in rescue whom we’ve assisted in the past. This very beautiful declawed cat, Molly, had been thrown out before her owners had moved.
She had been living amongst feral cats and had gotten pretty beaten up. She had some wounds and had been vomiting.
We authorized her to be seen by the great doctors at Orion Animal Hospital. She was treated and we are confident that Molly will go on to find a very loving home, never to be abandoned again. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/
10/31/24 – Meet Lucy and Ricky. They are a bonded pair of 5 week-old kittens found abandoned on the road, likely orphaned after their mother was hit by a car. They had obvious worms, diarrhea, and, as you can see, eye issues. We were contacted earlier in the month and are being seen today at Orion Animal Hospital.
