11/10/23 – Violet was another sweetheart found wandering around our friend’s home who lived on a Main Street. She was very malnourished, infested with fleas and needed to be seen by one of our partner vets. She is beautiful and will need a furever loving home after she finishes all of her medical care. – diana

11/9/23 – On Tuesday, November 7, Ernie had his staples removed from his amputation and the little purr machine is doing well and is learning how to play (see October 24 & 27 posts). – diana

11/8/23 – It was late September, 2023 when we were contacted about a very friendly cat rescued during a ‘hoarding project’. His finder thought he had been a pet a one time, was either abandoned or lost, and ended up in the hoarding situation. He seemed to have an issue with his leg and was very malnourished. Over the past weeks, Mister has been seen a number of times at one of our partner vets but his diagnosis is still unsure. His leg appeared to have been injured at one time but had healed. Mister’s health has been up and down since being rescued and he has been running a low grade fever. At times he’s lethargic and then back to normal and at times he limps. Mister has been on a couple of different antibiotics and the doctor still can’t rule out FIP. He will be having blood work again in a couple of weeks and we will continue to be there for Mister. – diana

11/7/23 – On August 31 we were contacted by Make A Difference Rescue about helping with Kobe’s medical visit (see posting 8/31/23). We approved his visit and he was diagnosed with Giardia, hookworm, whipworm, and heartworm. Kobe started his heart worm treatment on October 27 and we will continue with his treatment until it is completed. Commitments kept. – diana

11/6/23 – Peanut. It was August when Zamorea saw a car pull up in a park, let out a dog, and drove off. She took the scraggly dog in and after two weeks, Peanut was not eating and drinking very little. We were contacted for help. Peanut was taken to Orion Animal Hospital where he was tested for parvo, had x rays taken, as well as a comprehensive blood and urine panel done. He was treated for infections and given fluid and thankfully one month later with lots of love, Peanut looks like a totally different dog.

This is a perfect example of the importance of 4 Paws 1 Heart to good Samaritans and the independent rescue community. The typical person who rescues an animal in need rarely can afford to take the animal to a vet for just standard vetting let alone the expenses involved with a dumped animal like Peanut or for so many others who need serious medical attention. We thank our many donors who make this possible and the vets who work with us. We hope that by mid-November we will again be able to assist the many animals who have no one else but our Village of huge-hearted animal advocates. – diana

11/6/23 – Rudy showed up on his finder’s back deck in mid September. Lisa, his savior, fed him for about a month but noticed he had some health issues. She took him to a vet and had him examined, vaccinated for rabies, and dewormed. The vet also found that Rudy’s teeth were in bad shape and needed a dental cleaning and administered antibiotics for an infection. We were asked for help and we authorized Rudy to be seen at Patterson Veterinary Hospital. On November 3 Rudy had his dental cleaning and is now on medication and resting comfortably. He will have a follow-up appointment in two weeks and when fully recovered, Lisa will try to find Rudy his furever, loving home. 11/5/23 – Solo and Keefe (aka Lovett and Gent) were rescued from the streets in September by our friend, Alanda M. They have now finished all of their vetting which included, fiv/felv tests, vaccines, bloodwork, and spay/neuter. Alanda will now be looking for their furever home. – diana

11/5/23 – Willow, at about one year old, showed up pregnant in a garage which neighbors a friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart. She later gave birth to Liam, Levi, and Nova. We were contacted to help when they all became old enough and no longer nursing. Everyone has now been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and tested. The three kittens have found homes and Willow is still in need of a permanent, loving home.

We continue to be on a temporary hold from medical assistance for stray animals while we continue to get through the commitments of the past few months and the invoices which go along with them. We hope to be back to somewhat normal by mid-November. Your donations save lives and we very much appreciate the support we continue to receive. Also, look forward to some exciting fundraisers which we will be telling you more about. On the docket will be Painting with a Twist, Red Wing Hockey, and Drag Queen Bingo. More to come. -diana
