11/2/23 – A stray cat was found with her arm through her collar and it was embedded in her arm pit area. I’m sorry for the graphic photo but this is also about awareness. Her collar was cut out of her skin and her rescuer tried finding help for 10 hours. No one would help. Not even animal control. The rescuer was desperate to find help. When we were contacted we couldn’t say no, and fortunately were able to have her seen by one of our partner vets for emergency exam of the wound.

The area was surgically closed with a drain tube placed and we are hoping the skin will remain closed when sutures are removed next week. We are calling her Dottie. She was also malnourished and emaciated weighing only 4.8 pounds. This girl is lucky she didn’t lose her arm or die from infection. We still have a long road ahead and our financial situation remains critical when making decisions to help with medical. She was anemic and will also need all the basic vetting. 11/1/23 – Continuous stories about the many orphans we have helped over the summer and some of whom are still in the process of recovery. These babies have all been rescued/tnr’d by Kristin E. who we’ve been helping for quite some time with TNR and in some cases full vetting because many of the alleged ‘feral’ cats are actually domesticated. Judy is one of them. She showed up in the group of cats who were being TNR’d. Judy was already spayed and had a severe upper respiratory infection. We authorized her visit and she was treated for the infection but after 14 days, the infection still existed and Judy was having an issue eating. So, we authorized a return visit. Judy was again treated for the infection but the doctor also discovered that Judy had a very infected tooth; so infected that the doctor was just able to pull it out. Judy is now recovering with her rescuer and we’re praying that this sweet, older kitty, fully recovers soon. – diana

10/31/23 – It was back in May when our relationship started with sweet Trezza rescued by Kim T. after she was contacted about a cat who supposedly had a broken jaw. Well, she didn’t have a broken jaw and after several visits to another vet, Trezza was taken to Dr. Zalac at Orion Animal Hospital. Bloodwork was done, and several visits incurred but in the end it appeared that kidney cancer finally took her life. Trezza passed away peacefully on October 29 and we are so very thankful to Kim for giving her so much love and care during her final days after she had suffered far too long on the streets. – diana

10/30/23 – It was September 25 when we were contacted to help a family found on the streets — mom and her babies. The rescuer tried to get them into a low cost clinic here in MI but as the families grew older, she couldn’t get them in anywhere. In the past we have worked with the Humane Society of Ohio and we were happy to do that again. Close to the border of MI, the family has been able to get spay/neutered and vaccinated and we were thankful we could help. Here is Claire, Midnight, Edwin, and Poe. – diana

These cats were tossed from their owners home when he went into assisted care. Thank you to 4 Paws 1 Heart for their support to ensure these 4 kitties were in good health and for very very much needed flea medication, negative combo test, shots, and all we’re previously fixed. Thank you to Moore Veterinary Hospital for all the care they have provided for them.

All are very sweet and loving. They’re a little shy until you can be trustes. It was just this man and his cats. You can tell he loved his cats and carried and snuggled them all.

They are currently residing in XL dog crates in my garage. Ultimately, I would love for them to go together and live their days together. Watching them together today brought me to tears. 10/27/23 – On October 6th, Paul Z. was out golfing when half way through the round a little cat came limping out of the woods in front of him. As he got closer, the cat was meowing at him and let him get close. He was clearly injured and was asking for help, so Paul picked him up and immediately went to the vet to try and help the little guy. The vet did x rays as he could barely walk and it was determined that Socs had a dislocated back left hip and needed FHO surgery to recover. Unfortunately, the family had just adopted a 4 month old puppy who had just been to the vet and, of course, the x rays and snap test for rescue Socs was not inexpensive, so the family could not afford the surgery for this sweet ‘boy’. The vet recommended Orion Animal Hospital and 4 Paws 1 Heart. We were contacted October 12 and we authorized Socs surgery at Orion Animal Hospital. Paul promised to do what he could to help with the cost.

Yesterday, we were contacted and received the following update:

“Missy (formerly Socs) is recovering well from her surgery last Wednesday. We changed her name because we were originally told she was a boy cat, but Dr. Zalac confirmed she’s a girl kitty.

It’s been just over a week and she is starting to get a little more mobile and is able to put some pressure on her leg to walk around. We have been giving her lots of love and attention each day. She’s eats and drinks very well and has a few new toys waiting for her once she fully recovers. – Paul”

I have to say that Paul was good on his word and donated $600 yesterday. At a time, when we are on a temporary hold from helping new cases, this donation will absolutely make a difference. – diana

10/26/23 – These 3 babies, Mickey, Donald, and Minnie were found on October 4 at about 3 weeks old. They were flea infested and their eyes were crusted shut. We initially approved their first visit to the vet for upper respiratory infections. The rescuer had treated their fleas and gave some medicine to start. Through the weeks, the boys had to return for follow up visits. Then there was some ‘confusion’ between a nipple and a penis and both boys had to see the doctor for swollen penises. But as of yesterday, they are on the mend. Rebekah, their rescuer, has kept them separated but kitty boys will still be kitty boys, soo she’s watching everyone closely. they are doing great and playing and jumping and will be scheduled for the rest of their medical when appropriate. They are absolutely adorable. These babies, again, are many of the outstanding cases.

Again, we are loyal to our commitments when we start a case and we hope people understand why we had to put a temporary hold on future cases. – diana
