10/7/23 – On September 6, 2.0 showed up on a porch with a “huge open wound” at the base of his tail. His finder noticed that he had been TNR’d and he seemed very friendly. She could also see that he had parasites. 2.0 was quickly seen by one of our partner veterinarians. His wound was treated and he was given antibiotics and pain medication. He was also tested and later treated for parasites. He tested negative for fiv/felv. Fortunately, there was no damage to his tail. His finder, Luci, reported yesterday that 2.0 is now an inside cat and living happily with her mom and her mom’s fur family. Little 2.0 is the tiniest of the bunch and he is living a life of love and safety. – diana

Snow update, before and after. Medical care was covered by 4 Paws 1 Heart. Friend and colleague Lisa Marie took him home and has cared for him by doing daily bandage changes for about 2 months. Lisa has fallen in love and decided to adopt Snow. He tested positive for FIV and he will be in an only cat household. Thank you 4 Paws 1 Heart and Lisa! Happy Ending!!!!
The mom was killed by a Coyote and babies left as orphans. We covered all spays and neuter, Vax, and wormings. If you are interested please contact Samantha. They are about 5 months old and adorable! Gina
10/5/23 – Slate, Nickel, Granite, and Sterling were found on the streets on the east side of Detroit. Each one had upper respiratory infections. Treatment was authorized and everyone seemed to be doing better until August when something happened to Granite’s eye. Before we could respond to Melissa’s request for help, Granite’s eye ruptured and she was taken to emergency where it was determined that the eye would need removal. Melissa contacted us and approval was given for Granite to be taken to Orion Animal Hospital where she had her eye removed. Granite is a “little sweetheart” and she is looking for her furever home. 10/4/23 – Kate was found on the street, very thin and what appeared to be an upper respiratory infection. Her finder said she was sneezing and coughing. It was arranged to have seen at a nearby veterinary clinic whom we work with to address the infection and to then take Kate to the Humane Society of St. Clair for her vaccines, testing, and spay after the infection was cleared. She was taken to Anchor Bay Veterinary where she was treated for an upper respiratory infection and appeared to be improving but shortly after, the finder kept seeing what appeared to be something in her nostril; the finder thought it might be a maggot. Kate was again seen at Anchor Bay where it was discovered that a botfly had embedded itself in Kates nostril. The botfly was removed and Kate will have a follow up visit to take care of the rest of her vetting. – diana
He has suffered severe neglect. A friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart found him covered in feces, fleas, skin sores, overgrown nails, and rotten teeth. He called me over the weekend and I was able to get this poor miserable dog seen at a partner hospital on Monday morning. Queso is scared and seems traumatized. His finder is working hard to help him feel relaxed. A full workup was done, meds sent home, and with neutering, skin, dental work, etc we have a ways to go. I’m not sure if the finder will need help with placement. If you are interested in helping towards the medical for Queso we greatly appreciate any help.

10/4/23 – It was early September when an independent rescuer whom we work with often, contacted us about a kitten, Casey, who was consistently being maced by the neighbors of a woman caring for a cat community. The baby had a severe upper respiratory infection, very malnourished, and lethargic. We authorized Casey to be seen by one of our partner veterinarians and within a week he was doing much better so we gave approvals for a later to visit to be neutered and vaccinated. He had already tested negative for fiv/felv. Casey may have his furever home and is known to be one lucky love bug. – diana
103/23 – APOLOGIES! I noticed two postings for Annabelle and deleted one not realizing both posts would be deleted. So, I’m sorry for all the comments which were deleted but here is Annabelle’s story once again.
It was June 19, 2023 when Annabelle and many other dogs and cats were found at a house where everyone was found dead from overdosing on drugs. All of the cats who were alive were vetted and placed with rescues; some cats were found dead. The rescue placed 2 dogs that were spayed/neutered and vetted. Annabelle, who is approximately 4 to 5 years old — not spayed nor vaccinated–was rescued with two other dogs (Jasmine and Sunny) who eventually were found to be positive for heart worm. The property owners allowed the animals to remain on the property while placement and medical care could be found.
At first, the rescue contacted us to get help with vetting for Annabelle and Jasmine to be vetted; then it was found both tested positive for heart worm. Jasmine turned out to be pregnant which added another layer to the medical issues and poor Annabelle was attacked by another dog before she could be seen initially. It was thought that her leg was broken so all attention was on taking care of that while we waited in the wings to assist with two heart worm positive dogs. Annabelle was treated at West Flint Animal Hospital. and Annabelle’s leg was treated and casted. Annabelle then started her pre-heart worm treatment some time after and finally on September 29, Annabelle received her first injection for heart worm. We will be covering Annabelle’s medical needs until she is heart worm free and have committed to helping Jasmine when appropriate. Teresa, a member of the rescue team, reported that Annabelle is comfortable and doing good. In the meantime, here is Annabelle when she was first found, then picked up, and finally on her ride home after her first heart worm injection. Continued prayers for Annabelle as well as every stray and abused animal on our streets. We are forever thankful that because of amazing and generous veterinarians and donors we are able to make a difference in so many lives. – diana
A 4 Paws 1 Heart friend Char contacted us for help with a very sweet boy on the street with an injured eye. They named him Jack. We got him in with one of our partner vet hospitals for an exam, feluk/fiv test, and some meds. Unfortunately, the eye is not better so we will be checking him out again next week. Baby Pumpkin was rescued while wandering near a busy road. She seemed so sick but with expert care from the doctor and staff at Orion Animal Hospital and from her rescuer with the help of our friends Debra B snd Debbie N. Pumpkin is doing great. She will be looking for a furever home. – diana
