1/10/23 – This is Hans (black and white) and Princess Leia. They were rescued by two people whom we’ve worked with in the past. In the process of doing outreach they discovered these two very wounded dogs in an abandoned house in Detroit. They both had multiple injuries, old and new. The rescuers cleaned their wounds as best as possible. Hans looked like he had bite marks all over his face and legs and his lip was torn. He also had what looked to be burns on his face. Princess Leia had a recent eye injury that appeared to be a bite along with some older bit wounds and her neck was swollen from an imbedded collar. The rescuers found a rescue group to take in both dogs but the group could not afford the potential medical needs and that is when we were contacted.

Hans and Leia were taken to a veterinary clinic by the rescue (Paws, Awes, & Claws) where treatment for the wounds was given. But, Leia was found to be in heat and Hans was found to be positive for heart worm. That is when we stepped in with one of our partner veterinary clinics. Leia has been spayed and vaccinated and Hans has started his pre-treatment for heart worm. When that is completed in 30 days he will be treated with the heart worm injections and when appropriate he will be neutered and vaccinated. The rescue will be seeking a furever loving home for these very abused but very sweet dogs.

1/9/23 – Their owner was evicted and her new landlord wanted nothing to do with cats. Fortunately, a rescuer, whom we’ve helped often, was able to find a foster and Miley and Baby will be spayed, vaccinated, and tested with the help of 4 Paws 1 Heart. They both look like babies but they are said to be 5 years old. Their rescuer later learned that there was also a male cat in the home and we are all hoping neither is pregnant. The rescuer also learned, after finding soft lumps on Miley that she had kittens last September. I did ask if anyone knew what happened to the kittens. But, for now, these little ones will be safe and never able to reproduce again. – diana.

1/5/23 – Jane Doe has been in and out of the emergency hospital since December 24. She was originally posted on fb by a person who saved her from a very abusive/neglectful situation. She was only 10 weeks old and Jane appears to have been starved and couldn’t hold down any food. An amazing woman saw the post and took in Jane thinking that the condition sounded like Parvo. Well, to make a long story short, it wasn’t parvo; this poor baby has been diagnosed with Megaesophagus which will eventually require surgery if the doctors can get her through her current issues of pneumonia caused from the aspiration of vomit. According to Web MD, Megaesophagus in dogs is a disorder in which the esophagus gets larger in size and consequently loses its ability to transport food. When this disorder occurs, the food accumulates in the animal’s espophagus.

Unfortunately, as an organization we have to consider all of the many stray animals in our communities who need our help. And, as we know from experience, money spent on medical needs can go fast. Consequently, we can’t help Jane Doe to the level she needs but we can at least help with a fraction of what the total costs will be for Jane’s medical care. Jane was again recently admitted to the emergency hospital for more testing and at this time her ANGEL is making arrangements with a surgical hospital for future surgery and continuing to raise money. Please pray for Jane Doe as well as her savior who has jumped into a situation she didn’t expect and really can’t afford. But she is committed to Jane — at all costs.

When you read and see all of the bad happening in this world, you once again regain hope when you come across a Paige Burgess who is giving it all for a defenseless, abused animal. – diana.

1/4/23 – Muffins is such a sweetheart and she will be looking for her furever home. Paws crossed that the doctors will be able to figure out how to help her on January 18. She is such a playful, happy kitty. – diana.

Muffins’ hanging in exam room and watching 40 cats on YouTube. Her appointment with the specialist is Jan 18th. Prayers that they can help her get proper for her nasophyrengeal stenosis.

1/4/22 – Meep is a one-eyed sweet boy who started living on on a very caring person’s porch during the severe weather of a couple of weeks ago. The homeowner contacted several rescues without any success and once the storm hit she didn’t have the heart to leave him outside so she brought him into her home and has been keeping him separated from her other cat until he could be tested and examined. Meep’s rescuer planned on taking him into All About Animals but was concerned there might be a longer term dental issue (you can see his snaggletooth protruding from his lower jaw) or other care that may not be in her budget at this time. He is an absolute sweetheart and as long as his testing comes back ok and introductions with her other cat go well she will be willing to give him a furever home.

We offered to cover Meep’s All About Animals visit as well as any dental issues needed. And, yesterday, Meep was tested and found negative for FIV and FelV, he has already been neutered and his rescuer paid for a microchip. The doctor examined his mouth and found Meep’s mouth and teeth to be healthy. He did indicate that because the ‘snaggletooth’ is so deep into Meep’s jaw, he would not recommend surgery. – diana.
