Ali – The Little Fighter Caught in a Recliner Keeps Fighting

6/19/16 – Happy Father’s Day to all of our wonderful dads of skin and fur children!! But, let us not forget all of the great moms and dads who sometimes have to play the role of mom and dad. On this last day of the Father’s Day Challenge where all donations will matched by a generous benefactor, I would like to again present Ali and his mom/dad/angel, Gina. Although Ali is healing as each day goes by, he still has a long road ahead which will include a visit or two to the Michigan State Veterinary Medical Center.
Ali, at less than one pound, was caught in a recliner. His two toes were cut off and a serious laceration to his skin was infected. We do not know why this little baby was in a position to have this happen to him but we do know there were other puppies in this litter. The owners were advised of their options, and when the medical staff returned to find out their decision, they found that little Ali had been ‘dumped’.
As Gina has kept us updated, we learned that this little guy is one serious fighter. He had already died once and was brought back to life. Now he appears to be thriving and ready to grow into a phenomenal boy like our girl, Sophia (aka Sommerset), who faced similar skin and infection issues at a very early age (see our website 4paws1heart.org).
Your donations during this challenge will help pay for Ali’s treatment at Michigan State which in the past has averaged $1,000 (that includes the generous matching donation of Michigan State). He will still need to have the remaining part of his two toes amputated. And, of course, this doesn’t include the medical care that has already gone into saving this sweet baby.
There are times in our lives when we have to make those hard decisions. An animal comes to us and we have to determine quality of life, prognosis, and cost. It is never easy. In Ali’s case, Gina saw something in his little closed eyes and knew he needed us to fight with him and that is what we did. A huge thank you, once again, to all of our friends who believe in us and continue to support us. Please take credit in saving the lives of so many who had no one else to be their voice! ~ diana
