7/30/24 – On July 24 we posted Ebony’s story. A very sweet kitty who showed up (with a playmate) at a firehouse. The organization SniP was contacted and they contacted us for assistance. Poor little Ebony had a degloved tail and need it to be amputated.
Here is the happy update received 7/29/24: “Ebony did wonderful with her tail amputation (and spay) surgery today! Darcy was extremely grateful for the financial assistance and wanted me to convey her gratitude. Thank you so much, Diana!!
7/30/24 – On 4/17/23 we posted about sweet Bianca. She had showed up at the finder’s door at 1 a.m. Laura, Bianca’s, rescuer advised that because they live in the ‘country’ they often have animals dumped on their property. Laura and her husband took Bianca into their garage to keep her safe and asked for medical assistance. Laura was hesitant to let Bianca mingle with her pets until Bianca could be checked.
We authorized a quick appointment at Groesbeck Animal Hospital where she was tested, vaccinated for rabies, and dewormed. Later Bianca was taken to Patterson Veterinary Hospital for the remaining vaccines and spay.
Yesterday I received the following happy update: “I wanted to share some updated photos of our baby girl, Bianca. Thank you for helping with the vet costs to get her taken care of in the start. Bianca was treated well at Patterson! This beautiful girl has sooooooo much personality and has been an amazing addition to our family. She has helped mend the relationship between two of my other cats. I wanted to share how amazing she is and how great her life is thanks to you helping me keep her!
On July 6th my friend found this boy running loose. She held onto him for a week but couldn’t keep him. He was taken to the shelter and no one claimed him. His stray hold was up and he was testing positive for a tick born disease. I reached out to the shelter to offer 4 Paws 1 heart assistance with deeper testing to determine if the tick born disease was real or just showing positive because of exposure. Turns out Jethro was only exposed and didn’t require treatment for Lyme disease. Hound dogs are difficult to place. Plus he was an adult with no training and high prey drive. I reached out to a friend Paula Guilds who I knew had owned hounds in past. Her neighbor Lauri was willing to foster Jethro if a rescue could pull him. Then, I reached out to Jenn Day from Misfit Angels Rescue and she came through once again! Jethro was released into his new foster home on August 8th. This is an example of what can go into saving each animal. Multiple people with a caring heart starting with Stefanie Maihofer , then Chief Jeff Randazzo at Macomb County Animal Control , 4 Paws 1 Heart , Paula, Lori, Jenn, and her rescue. THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! It’s taken me time to post his story. I will share his adoption link when I have it. This is what rescue is all about!!!! It is work but it’s worth it! Thank you Stefanie for your donation and here are a few pics of when he came home and now. Gina https://4paws1heart.org/donations/
7/25/2024 – This is “Fluffy”. He was diagnosed with a desmetoseal caused by an underlying congenital condition called “Dry Eye” which resulted in a severe deep eye ulcer that requires immediate attention and often times graft surgery or eye removal.
I am currently fostering Fluffy and treating both of his eyes with multiple medications every 2 hours around the clock. He is scheduled in 2 weeks for an eye removal, but I’m hoping for a MIRACLE in the meantime, so I will not be sleeping much during the next couple weeks..
Unfortunately, his better eye is also at risk because he is not producing enough tears. I am medicating that eye every 2 hours as well. The previous family could not handle the commitment it took to help get Fluffy through this unless there was a guarantee he could keep his eyes, so they made the difficult decision to surrender him in order to receive the long-term care he needed.
Fluffy doesn’t understand that and he is sad, lost, and confused. My husband and I are doing our best to comfort him and tend to his medical and emotional needs. Please keep Fluffy in your prayers as we take one day at a time. 💜 I’d like to thank Dr. Burcham for allowing her sweet boy Bucky to donate blood which we made eye drops out of to help towards treating Fluffy during the first few days. 7/25/24 – Somehow I missed this but this is George. He was pulled from the Genesee County Animal Control by Underdog Rescue Ranch in late March. At the time, the rescue did not realize that the animals are not vetted. The rescue asked for our help.
George was only 20lbs and between 1 and 2 years old. He was in a foster to adopt home and we were happy to take care of his heart worm test, vaccines, and neuter at West Flint Animal Hospital. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations.
7/24/2024 -This beautiful boy now named Asher is recovering from Toxoplasmosis. This is the 1st case I’ve ever seen.
He was found dragging his rear legs and unable to urinate. His rescuer reached out to us for help almost 2 weeks ago. She was able to get his initial care covered with donations which really helped to get his treatment started. To keep cost down he was treated based on symptoms. However, the doctors feel certain he was positive based on lab work and his response to treatment.
On July 12th I was able to get him in over at Moore Veterinary Hospital for continued care and today his rescuer said he is urinating and now able to walk on his own! His last dose of meds is tomorrow and we will then help get his vaccines started. Gina https://4paws1heart.org/donations/
7/24/24 – These 5 beauties showed up in a colony where the caregiver believed everyone had been spayed/neutered.
They will start their vetting with vaccinations and deworming at All About Animals in Auburn Hills and we are happy to help.
Understanding the state of our economy, donations have been slow and fundraisers have been few — although look to Fall for a couple of fundraisers that are being planned at this time — but in the mean time, anything you can afford will help make a difference.
7/24/24 – These two beauties, Ebony, and sibling were ‘dropped off’ at a fire station in St. Joseph, MI. There was a call out for help and a good Samaritan stepped up to take the kitties in — not knowing the one, Ebony, had a degloved tail. The organization SNIP contacted us to see if we could cover the tail amputation surgery and, fortunately, the cost of the surgery was very reasonable and we were able to cover it. The surgery is scheduled for Monday, July 29, so keep Ebony in your prayers. SNIP has provided vouchers to cover the spay/neuter and vaccines. Once again a Village of Caring Individuals come together to make a difference! – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/
7/23/24 – Duke was surrendered when the wife and baby had to leave their home due to domestic abuse. As often is the case, there is fear that a pet left behind will be further abused in retaliation. Unfortunately, shelters for domestic abuse cases can rarely take in the family pets. Duke is about 7 months old and we will be taking care of his vaccines, testing, and neuter. Our friends who took him in will be sure to find him a furever home. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/
7/23/24 – Abe was brought to our attention around the Memorial Day holiday. He showed up at a home very much beaten up with open wounds and suffering from infections. Because we didn’t have any partner veterinary clinics in this area of Michigan, we did pay for Abe to be seen and receive some treatment. I’ve attempted to find out what happened with Abe, but, unfortunately without success. Although, the family did say they would be giving him a furever home. Still, we want to make sure our supporters have some idea as to the many animals we assist. – diana https://4paws1heart.org.donations.
