Help for Orange Kitty

3/8/25 Occasionally I come across people who want to help a stray, but they can’t really afford to feed the animal. In this case, we were contacted for help with medical and the cat tested positive for Feline Leukemia. The doctor feels there is a stricture or nerve damage affecting the muscles that allow swallowing of the food. A special texture of food is needed to help prevent the cat from choking.

I put the call out and a handful of kind people didn’t hesitate to help have food ordered and shipped to the home of this kind family. Mary Lou, Dawn, Lori, Jo, and Beth THANK YOU! Here are some pics of the food delivered or dropped off to help Orange kitty and he is doing well. Gina https://4paws1heart.org/donations/

In Memory of Isaac

3/7/2025 – Please keep our board member Cynthia S. Wojtowycz in your thoughts and prayers tonight as she is struggling with the loss of her beloved cat named Isaac. He was a paralyzed cat that she saved and he was a significant part of her life.

Charley is having a “try out”

3/6/25 – It took nearly a month for our rescue friend, Angelina, to trap this beautiful kitty who showed up on her porch but was elusive to be caught. She provided a shelter and food on her porch and was finally able to get him into her home.

He was very matted and Angelina said she could feel his bones. 4 paws 1 heart authorized his full vetting and Angelina brought him back to her home where he was thriving. As of February 18 Charley was to have a ‘try out’ in her friend’s home.

Bumper is living a very happy life with her new family

3/5/25 – Apologies for adding the two incorrect photos of Bumper yesterday. I guess I was right in passing the baton to Gina. Here is the story again with the correct photos. – diana

3/5/25 – In late December, I received the following email message: “We found two kittens. We called for them to be picked up but nobody came. When we were leaving, we found one deceased beneath a car but couldn’t find the other one. Turned out the stray kitten had hitchhiked under our car. She’s got a really bad eye infection. I think she might lose the eye as it is protruding and very swollen. My husband was just laid off so we can’t afford to help her. I was wondering if you could help cover the cost for her? We are interested in keeping her. I brought her inside as the temperature is low but she is separated from our other animals until she can be seen by a vet and her eye healed. I don’t want her to suffer and with overcrowded shelters, I didn’t want her to be put down. She’s primarily a happy kitten.”

It was determined by the doctors at All About Animals-Flint that Bumper (as she was later named) had an upper respiratory infection and needed to have her eye removed. The eye removal and other vetting could not be done until after the infection cleared. Finally, everything was completed on January 23, 2025— vaccines, neuter, and eye removal.

We were happy to help this very sweet kitten who was 12 weeks old when she was rescued and now at almost 25 weeks old, Bumper is living a very happy life with her new family of humans and pets. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/

Myron was Found Injured in Grosse Pointe Woods

3/1/25 A kind woman found this sweet kitty outside limping in Grosse Pointe Woods. She reached out to us to see if we could help get him checked out because he appeared injured. We made arrangements right away to have him seen by a doctor at Moore Veterinary Hospital. They took x rays and checked for feline leukemia and FIV.

Unfortunately, there is a fracture and dislocated bones in his hock. We dispensed pain meds and the rescuer will keep him inside until a decision can be made for the next steps.

Myron is so very sweet.. Gina https://4paws1heart.org/donations/
