Oscar’s Happy New Chapter Begins!

8/25/26: We’d like to share a happy rescue story with you!

A friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart who does independent rescue had noticed an older cat she named Oscar roaming the neighborhood for several years. She remembered him when he was in much better shape and healthy, but over the years, life outdoors had taken a toll on this old man. He had become extremely thin and was clearly in need of some much-deserved care.

She was finally able to safely secure Oscar, and fortunately, Moore Veterinary Hospital made room to see him. Oscar needed the works — sedation, a complete exam, parasite and contagious disease testing, vaccines, full bloodwork, flea prevention, and a couple of rotten teeth extracted. He also needed to be shaved out after becoming badly matted.

Because of our amazing supporters, 4 Paws 1 Heart was able to cover all of Oscar’s medical care. This is exactly what your support makes possible — giving animals like Oscar a chance when they otherwise may have been overlooked.
A huge thank you to Brenda, the practice manager at Moore Veterinary Hospital, for working closely with the doctor to make sure Oscar received the care he needed.

Despite being very thin, we are happy to say that Oscar’s bloodwork and testing all came back normal. What a relief!
And then came the best part. Patricia, the rescuer who worked so hard to gain Oscar’s trust, decided to bring him into her home and let him live indoors for the rest of his days. The outdoor life is no longer a world for this old man. He deserves warmth, comfort, love, and companionship.

Once considered a feral, untouchable cat, Oscar is now allowing pets and taking those first precious baby steps toward trusting people. We may never know everything Oscar has been through, but we do know this: his story is changing.
His final chapter will be filled with a warm bed, a safe home, a loving human, and the kindness he should have known all along.
