MITTENS – She Had Been on the Streets for 4 Years and Now She was Running Into Things

1/5/22 – Mittens was rescued one year ago when she was found very sick on someone’s porch. The homeowner advised that she had been roaming the area for at least 4 years. Mittens has been in foster doing well by not yet adopted for one year and on December 17 I received a message from her rescuer/foster that Mittens was not acting normally, running into things, and not eating although she was usually a “chow hound”. Thankfully, we were able to get Mittens into Orion Animal Hospital with one of the best, Dr. Zalac. Blood work was done. On December 18, the rescuer reported that poor little Mittens was found with her head in the toilet bowl plunger holder (thankfully it was new). From the blood work, Dr. Zalac reported that Mittens might have one of 3 different issues — toxoplasmosis, FIP, or a brain tumor. Dr. Zalac decided to start treatment for toxoplasmosis and said that her sight would return if that was the issue. Mittens was given two syringes of food and also got an appetite stimulant and was scheduled for a re-check. On January 3, I contacted the rescuer to find out how Mittens was doing and was advised that Mittens is doing great, her vision has returned and she will be seeing Dr. Zalac again next week. She is still on her meds which seems to have done the trick. Here are some photos of Mittens when she was sick and when she was first found. MAX – His Owner Threw Him Out

1/4/22 – Meet Max. On November 12 I was contacted by a rescuer whom we’ve assisted in the past. She advised that his owner had ‘given him up’ and put him outside where he wandered for a month before Ashley had enough and took him in. Although she talked with the owner, he wanted no part of Max. Ashley was in the process of moving but she was determined to not leave him wandering the streets after having had a home at one time. Ashley contacted us and we agreed to assist with medical which was done. Ashley was going to find Max a good home. If you are interested in this very sweet, domesticated boy, contact Ashley at: [email protected] . She many not have found a permanent home yet. – diana.4paws1heart.org/donations/

12/30/21 – Georgie was an intact male…we say was becuse he was neutered this morning while he was under. The collar that was inbedded under his armpit has been removed. The wound is very infected and there is a lot of dead tissue. It is all being cleaned up and later today will be debrided. Georgie was snap tested and is fiv+ which we all know an fiv+ cat can live a normal, long and healthy life! Georgie also has an upper respiratory infection going on so when he is released tomorrow it will be with pain meds, antibiotics, eye ointment, ect. Due to mom havung a lot of knee and eyes issues and Gorgie would have to be downstairs…we are looking for an experienced medical foster, so if that’s you…please let us know! Thankyou to all the humans who have fed and tried to catch Georgie for a whole year!!! You ladies are the best!!! And to Stephanie who was able to trap him at last, you saved his life. To all the staff at Orion Animal Hospital who even with a fully booked day, took Georgie without hesitation. To Auntie Deb for transporting, 4 Paws 1 Heart for without hesitation are covering his medical and everybody who’s been trying to help Georgie….THANKYOU!!!!! GEORGIE – Rescued with a Collar Imbedded in His Neck and his Leg Stuck within the Collar

12/30/21 – Prayers Please! Our Board member and mom of the Chance Team contacted me this morning about a case she read about on the ‘Next Door’ app for Clinton Twp., MI. A number of people had posted about a cat wandering the neighborhood for months with a collar very imbedded in his neck and his leg stuck in the collar (?). It was reported that many had been trying to trap him for months including a neighbor of our Board member, Denise. He was finally trapped last night and his leg appears to be reeking from infection. Denise just picked him up and she is on her way to Orion Animal Hospital who will be fitting him in although their day is totally booked. We are so very thankful to Dr. Zalac and the staff of Orion Animal Hospital for what they do in putting the animals first. We will update when we have information; Georgie may be in the hospital over night. – diana.4paws1heart.org/donations/

12/29/21 – Very sad news about Noel who was finally trapped after months of trying. She had a prolapsed rectum like none we’ve ever seen before. She went to one of the best doctors we know and she was treated. Then, the prolapse reoccurred, and again the doctor treated her. Unfortunately, it happened again and surgery was performed yesterday and in checking with the clinic, all seemed to go well. But, much to my surprise, I just saw this post advising that Noel died last night after being taken to an emergency hospital. The Lord knows we tried along with her rescuer, Kim. Our hearts are breaking for this sweet baby. May she now rest in peace. – diana.4paws1heart.org/donations/

“Sadly Noel has lost her fight with the prolapsed rectum. She had a different surgery yesterday and last night around 2:30am she was found with everything out again even worse than before. There was no choice to end her suffering. Her foster mom took her to affiliate last night and she was helped to peacefully passed away. These pics are Noel yesterday after I picked her up from Orion animal hospital after her 3rd surgery for her prolapse. – Kim” 😭💔
