10/31/14  Update on Rocky: If you’ll remember, Rocky was brought into the emergency already in liver and kidney failure. He was turning yellow. The caring and highly skilled staff of the Animal Urgent and Critical Care Center immediately started treating him. Although it was touch and go for awhile, Rocky is doing great and last night he went home with his new forever dad. Good Luck, Rocky, and may God watch over you and your new family. ~ diana

Prayers and Positive Energy Needed: This little guy, Dexter, was rescued by the side of the road. He had a bloody neck and a heavy chain hanging from him. He was very flea infested. His rescuers took him to the vet to be treated and attempted to find his owner without success. Within a few days he seemed to be in pain and they again took him to the vet. The x-rays showed he had bladder stones. The rescuers had already spent a considerable amount of money and still no owner stepped forward so after a week they reached out to 4 Paws 1 Heart. We agreed to help this sweet boy and this morning he will be operated on. The rescuers are committed to finding the perfect forever home (although it might be theirs). ~ diana

Update:  Dexter’s surgery was successful and he was neutered during the process.

Macomb County, Michigan: Another sweet cat left behind by his/her owners. The neighbors have been feeding him/her but they are moving November 7 and no one will be left to care. Why is this not animal cruelty?? How can anyone who believes in God just abandon a companion who is not prepared to fend for himself. 10/30/14  Update on the pup we are calling “Katniss” for her strength and survival. We now suspect she is at least a year old. She is eating, drinking, and on fluids. We started antibiotics last night for the infection from urine scald. Tonight she will get a nice warm bath and I made her a big bowl of hamburger/rice which she really enjoyed. Still no expression and you can see the fear in her eyes. I think with time and love we might get her spirit whole again. ~ Gina

10/30/14   This puppy was dumped and left for dead. Her 12 pound body consisting of nothing but skeleton was literally crammed into a tiny cage by the street in front of an abandoned home in Detroit. It was pouring rain on top of her as she laid in a fetal position on the hard plastic tray. Her temperature was 10 degrees below normal, her body cold, wet, and saturated in urine. She has pustules and staph infection from urine scald on her vulva.
There is no expression or reaction from her…. just a blank empty stare. Her eyes are filled with fear and sadness. She can’t stand without assistance and her growth is stunted from severe malnourishment and intentional starvation. She flinches as if she’d been hit regularly. We suspect that someone tortured this puppy and then left her to die a slow miserable death.
My heart broke when I saw her and I could not hold back the tears or disgust for the inhumane behavior inflicted on this innocent baby from what we call humans. The doctor and the staff immediately tried to stabilize and comfort her, getting her warm blankets, giving her love, and talking to her gently..
We will update everyone once we know more, but for now please pray that we can eventually repair some of the damage that has been done to her broken spirit.
Thank God for the woman driving by who stopped to save this puppy because I cannot imagine how many people ignored her lifeless body and just kept going. The woman was an Angel for this baby girl, and now that we have her in our care we will do everything possible to provide her everything she will ever need. Gina

Update:  I just cooked her some ground hamburger and rice and i will be bringing it up to her shortly. The staff is taking very good care of her and she is getting lots of love. Her blood work and tests show a mild infection that we are treating. We are giving her lots of fluids for hydration, vitamin B, and several small feedings spread out. 10/29/14 – Happy National Cat Day!! This little 8 month -1 year old sweetie was brought into an emergency hospital last night after the rescuer saw her hit by a car. Because of the availability of 4 Paws 1 Heart medical dollars, this sweetie was put on fluids to treat her shock and now she is the biggest love bug with no other issues. She loves to purr and is very sweet. She also has a half amputated tail which is not an issue; it has probably been like this for awhile — this makes her even more unique! 10/28/14 – Happy Morning – Just got another update on Pongo, the handsome Australian Shepherd whose owner died and no one responsible for the estate seemed to care. Here is the update and photos from Morna, who as an Australian Shepherd rescue, worked with Oakland County Animal Control, to get her out of his dire situation. ~ diana

Look at his gorgeous coat—it was so dull and lifeless when we got him and I suspect that he had been shaved this spring but he is what we call a very dark red tri. So happy for him and thanks to the two of you for saving this boy. I know he is happy and loved—not all dogs are that lucky.” ~ Morna

10/27/14 – Joy’s caretakers have reported that she is doing well as she gets ready for her leg surgeries. We again thank everyone who continues to pray for her and her complete recovery. The other evening we had the pleasure of presenting a ‘Thank You’ certificate to our two Michigan State Troopers, Allison and Kuhn. They continue to be invested in Joy’s safety and total recovery.
