Gracie is at Emergency

3/21/2025 12am update. Gracie is at Emergency. I went to check on her and give nighttime meds and she wasn’t acting right. Her gums were pale and there was swelling where her spay incision was with a decent amount of blood leaking.

I panicked so my husband and I rushed her to emergency. A few of my co workers met me up there, and the others were more than willing to help. The doctor saw a hematoma but didn’t see internal bleeding. They want to monitor her overnight and run some tests, x rays, and make sure she is ok. She was started on fluids and pain meds. A belly bandage was applied, brief ultrasound, and clotting tests.

Advanced Animal Emergency is my favorite ER hospital, and I take comfort knowing she is in the best hands with the doctors and staff there. I’m still very worried until I know she is going to be ok, so please keep her in your prayers tonight.

She’s been at our hospital for the last 4 weeks. We all love her. Gina

Gracie Spay Surgery Update

3/20/25. Gracie Update! She is resting comfortably after a really big day. Everything went well, thanks to our awesome surgeon, Doctor Hilton. Huge Thank you to the staff at Moore Veterinary Hospital for taking such good care, of Gracie!

Today, the spay was done and you could tell she has definitely had multiple litters.

Leg sutures were removed, but there is an opening that we are going to give more time to heal. A pierce through the tongue was noticed and an x ray of her tail was taken to make sure infection did not spread to the bone or require amputation from the bite wounds.

A very kind couple has offered to foster so that we can get Gracie out of the hospital and into a home environment. They have already gone above and beyond to provide any necessary items, that Gracie will need. My husband and I will bring her there on Saturday.

This has been a very long 4 weeks consisting of medical management, nursing care, dedication, surgeries, time, cost, sacrifice, and networking for placement. Miss Gracie and I are very tired, but the end goal is to get her healthy and into a home where she will never experience pain again. This is her chance to shine!

Frappuccino Was Found Outside

3/20/25 Frappuccino was found outside and after weeks of not finding an owner the rescuers decided to make him a forever part of their family. His check up, vaccines, and neuter were taken care of by 4 paws 1 heart. They emailed me yesterday to share the good news! We are happy to help get you started on your new beginnings Frappuccino! Also, thank you, Kim, the receptionist at Moore Vet for putting this family in touch with us so that we could help make a difference in the life of another deserving stray kitty!

This is Bruno

3/18/25. I wanted to share this email with our supporters. It’s from an employee at an animal hospital telling her story about Bruno, a cat that 4 paws 1 heart helped her with. Gina

“Hello, this is Bruno. Bruno came into the veterinary office I work at as a Stat Hit by car. He was unable to walk with his back legs. We did X-rays and he had at least three fractures in his pelvis making it a dislodged pelvis. With no owner, it wasn’t looking good for this poor street cat. He was filthy, unaltered and full of tapeworms as well. It was looking like he was going to be euthanized as there was no one to take over his care.

He would do best with surgery but could heal with 8 weeks cage rest the vet told me So, I decided to take him in and try.

After the first 6 days he had not had a bowel movement. I brought him back into my work and did more X-rays. Full, he was full of poop. We were unsure if he could even push. He had the night to provide a bowel movement or the next day he would have to be euthanized. I told him he had to poop and he did that night. I cried I was so happy. As of today, he is doing great. Still on cage rest for another 3 ish weeks. He loves pets and purrs. I can’t help but think he was loved by someone at some point in his life. We are unsure of age but he looks about 2yrs based on his teeth. We tried finding owners for weeks and got nothing.

He’s a lucky boy. He’s lucky I was working that night, lucky that man brought him to our vet, he’s lucky someone saw him and cared enough to wrangle him into a box and get him help and I’m lucky to have found Gina and her wonderful organization. Midnight and 4 Paw

3/14/25. I think that animals are sent to us when we need them the most. About 6 months ago my moms Doberman rescue dog passed away. My mom was absolutely devastated and going through other things that added to her depression.

One morning, she looked out the window and sees a momma and 2 kittens walking through the field. She gives them their space, but begins feeding them and slowly gaining their trust. I encouraged her to trap one at a time and get them fixed. We started a couple weeks ago and we’re successful to have 1 of the 3 neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and felv/fiv tested.

The 2 babies have been a constant in my mom’s life since her Molly passed away. They have given her the will and the distraction that she needed to help heal her pain. She named them “Midnight and 4 Paw”. Unfortunately, she can not bring them indoors and make them forever pets, but we are working on getting them protection and ensuring their health is good. We can at least make sure they are treated with love and kindness.

Meet Binx

3/13/25 – Meet Binx! He is less than 5 pounds and desperately craves love. His rescuer contacted us a few days ago looking for help after finding him outside emaciated with patches of fur missing, a respiratory infection and trouble eating.

We authorized a full workup at the vet hospital, and unfortunately, he tested positive for Feline immunodeficiency virus. His rescuer is looking for a forever home where Binx will never go hungry again. It takes a village, and we are hopeful that the perfect home will come along. This has been a very busy week, with requests for help. Gizmo and Baby Girl

3/10/25 – On November 5, 2024 I posted about Gizmo and Baby Girl. Both had stolen the rescuer’s heart when she was feeding some feral cats.

When Gizmo was first authorized to be seen by a vet, it was determined that he had an eye infection and also needed to see an eye specialist. Baby Girl had not been ready just yet to be seen by a vet. An appointment was made for Gizmo to be seen by one of the doctors at Orion Animal Hospital where Dr. Blasses and Dr. Zalac are our ‘go to’ doctors when it comes to eyes.

Dr. Blasses determined that Gizmo needed entropion surgery (the condition whereby the eyelashes grow into the eyeball and if left, will result in blindness — not to mention the pain the animal goes through. Gizmo had his surgery (see post surgery photo). Once he was healed both Gizmo and Baby Girl were vaccinated, tested, and neutered/spayed.

Gracie Update

3/9/25 – Gracie Update. The culture of her leg wound came back with a variety of nasty bacteria. Another antibiotic was added in to her daily treatments, but as of today her incision is oozing, and it’s NOT supposed to be. She’s also painful on the leg despite regular pain meds and the bite wounds on her tail are not healing.

I am very worried and tomorrow we will be consulting with the surgeon for next steps. Not only is this bill adding up fast, but Gracie needs to heal so we can get her spay surgery and then work on finding the forever home that she deserves .

I want to thank Brenda, Natalie, Laura, Tracey, Ann, and the rest of the staff at Moore Veterinary Hospital for taking on some of the shifts to medicate and let Gracie out to poddie. Also, for giving love, donating food, helping with ice packs, Laser therapy, and making sure her bedding and belly are tended to at all times. I especially want to thank my husband Dave, for going with me to care for Gracie at the hospital almost every night for the last 3 weeks..
