4/22/14 – SAVED FROM CRAIG’S LIST
4/22/14 – Our followers know that our mission is not just about the abandoned and abused who come into the Emergency or about assisting formal rescue groups with medical bills. We are very much about helping the individual rescuer who finds an animal in trouble and jumps into action. Amanda is one such person. She contacted us after rescuing this sweet dog who was advertised on Craig’s list FOR FREE. This poor guy had been kenneled most of his life and now that the family was moving they were ready to abandon him. When Amanda rescued him he was very emaciated, had a split toe nail causing him to limp, and diarrhea. Amanda nursed him through his health issues but could not afford treating his nail. 4P1H was happy to get this boy started on his new life. His nail has been treated and he’s been neutered thanks to the great relationship we have with Patterson Veterinary. Thank you, Amanda, for rescuing this sweet boy.-
4/23/14 Mr. Honeybell Update
4/23/14 – Happy Update: Many of you may remember Mr. Honeybell. Our 4P1H friend, Dave, contacted us for help. He and his wife had been sheltering and feeding Mr. Honeybell (outside) after he was abandoned by his owners. With such a severe winter, Dave became very concerned for Mr. Honeybell’s well being and then he saw that the cat was limping. On January 23, 2014 with the help of our good friends from Paws For The Cause Feral Cat Rescue, Mr. Honeybell was taken to the vet. 4P1H paid for his medical treatment and neutering and we’re happy to say that Mr. Honeybell is very healthy, not limping, and slowly falling in love with his new family. Here is Dave”s latest update ~ diana:
“Just wanted to let you know that we have become great friends. He does something I have never seen. He grabs my arm with his front paws, roles on his back and pushes on it repeatedly with his hind paws… No claws… Then he gives me a nibble on the hand and kisses.” ~ Dave
4/26/14 – GINA AND HER BOTTLE BABIES
Tiz the season for abandoned kittens! I’m currently filling in and bottle-feeding these babies for “A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue”. They will be going back the the rescue on Sunday. They will eventually need homes, and If your interested in adoption please contact Michelle @ https://www.facebook.com/rejoycefulrescue Please Note: It will be weeks before they are considered ready. They are only about 1-2 weeks old and have a ways to go before they are out of the woods! Gina
5/5/14 – PLEASE BE SURE TO IDENTIFY YOUR PETS
URGENT PLEASE SHARE This female was found this afternoon on Telegraph road hit by a car. She has a dislocated femur on the right side and a broken head of her femur on the left side of her pelvis. She can not walk. 4 paws 1 heart is taking care of her medical needs and supportive care, but we would like to find her owners asap. She had no chip, no collar, but she does have a line tattoo on her belly indicating she was fixed. We estimate her to be about 7-9 years old. If anyone has any information about her owners please email me at (owner must show proof of ownership) gina.4paws1heart@gmail.com
6/11/14 UPDATE: This poor baby’s injuries were too great. She was humanely euthanized before any owners could be found. ~ diana
4/28/14 – COOKIE – ABANDONED NO MORE
4/2/14 – OUR DEWEY FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME
4/2/14 HAPPY UPDATES – Remember our little Dewey. Back in October, 2013 he was found under a van — terrified and starving. He had a small laceration and later developed a cough which delayed his recovery while Gina fostered him. Well, just like most of the
babies 4 Paws 1 Heart helps, Dewey is living the life of a King. Thank You, Cory Lynn, for keeping in touch and taking such good care of our little guy. ~ diana
“I just wanted to give your organization another heart felt thank you for the work you do. This is Dewey. He absolutely loves his first spring. Yesterday he spent a whole day going from screen door to open window, admiring wild life. Today he is cuddly and exhausted from all the excitement. He is here because of you and we are so very grateful.” ~ Cory L
RIP LITTLE PAPERCLIP – MAY YOU FLY HIGH
Sweet Mr Jim….funds needed for all abandoned animals…please??
In the past 2 weeks, 4 Paws 1 Heart has received several call outs for medical help. Mr. Jim is one of them. Here is his story and of course, we said yes (until our money runs out) ~ diana
“My husband, Jeremy, and I were contacted on May 28 by a friend about a dog that had been chained to the fence of an abandoned house near her in Detroit. He was barking non stop and way too nice for his own good. We have now had Mr Jim safe for over a week with no bites or even nibbles from our searches for an owner. Robin Nix of Solo Rescue agreed to take him (as well as another stray we found three days after Mr. Jim) as long as we could foster temporarily. Mr Jim is maybe 5 years old, unaltered male, all white pit/bulldog mix. After working with him for a week, I think he is deaf. We are cleaning and putting goop in the ears as well as working on attention training to be sure these are not the issues. He is the most LOVEABLE dog He gives kisses and cuddles and did like to play fetch. Unfortunately, we just learned that Mr. Jim is heart worm positive and is now on bed rest. Solo does not have immediate funds available for the initial blood work and x-ray to determine severity and treatment. The vet thinks it is a mild to medium case. Can you help?”
Truth be told…
Truth was to be sold on Craig’s List. His owner felt he was a ‘bad dog’ because he liked to jump fences so she kept him chained outside or in a crate. A volunteer with the Better Life Center heard of Truth’s story and rescued him from the owner who didn’t care. She spent her own money to neuter, vaccinate, and microchip Truth; BLCC donated training; all while trying to find him that loving home. A loving family has been found but Truth is in need of surgery. The rescuer is now seeking help with Truth’s surgery. 4 Paws 1 Heart was happy to help. ~ Diana
