Meet Biscuit

9/23/13 Meet Biscuit. He’s a 6-month-old shepherd mix, male who was brought into the Emergency after being hit by a car. His owner surrendered him to 4 Paws 1 Heart so that he could be saved. He had a severe wound to his leg but is now on the mend. Our good friends at Misfit Angels Rescue have taken him in to find the perfect home. If you are interested in making this very sweet boy a member of your family, contact Misfit Angels on their website or facebook page. ~ diana

KEEP SMILING — ANOTHER WONDERFUL UPDATE!

9/6/13 – KEEP SMILING — ANOTHER WONDERFUL UPDATE! I’m hoping that our friends remember Dig Dug. Dig is the dog who was running wildly for over one hour through the streets in a nearby community. The police had to taser him for his own protection. The Good News — Dig has been adopted!! Here is a recent photo with his new fur siblings and his human sister. Dig is the guy on the floor on the left side of the photo. Thank You, Holly and Robb Gibbs, for taking such good care of this guy and finding him his forever home. 4 Paws 1 Heart is thrilled that we could play a role in Dig’s story!~ diana

Remember Charlie?

Remember Charlie?? This was the initial request for help we received from good Samaritan, Leah on July 26, 2013:

“Dear Diana and Gina,
I’m writing to you because I’ve taken in a stray dog who is in need of urgent help. I found him in my northwest Detroit neighborhood hanging out by an abandoned school. He was whimpering and clearly in rough shape, with swollen front legs and and part of his mouth hanging limp, so I brought him in to my vet. She speculated that he was likely a bait dog in a dog fighting ring. She also said that she believed that while his injuries were serious and would require surgery, he could be treated. Of course, given all he has been through, his psychological wounds would need a lot of attention as well. One of the vet techs told me about your organization, and I wanted to see if you would consider taking this very sweet boy on. I am currently keeping him in my back yard, feeding him and giving him the antibiotics and pain med prescribed by the vet.” ~ Leah

With the help of 4 Paws 1 Heart and generous donations made through an on-line fundraiser conducted by Leah and with the help of TailWaggers, Charlie was treated.

Happy September 1, 2013

Happy September 1, 2013. We just wanted to share an update on one of the babies we were able to help because of the wonderful support we get from our friends. Here was her story in January, 2013:

“Vixen was brought to Emergency and our attention as an 8-week old puppy that needed emergency surgery to save her life. She had a rare condition where her intestines were strangulated, cutting off the blood supply which is critical to her survival. With surgery from Dr. Venet, Vixen fully recovered and she was placed into a forever home.” ~gina

We were just sent this photo of Sassy (aka Vixen) who is now much bigger, stronger, and traveling the world with her new mommy who is forever grateful to us for saving her life. Sassy was a perfect fit for her new mommy who was looking for a sweet, furry companion. ~gina

“Nelson”, a 10 month old, Male, Chihuahua

8/20/13  This little guy got a 2nd chance at life because of 4 Paws 1 Heart but there continues to be so many that need our help.

His name is “Nelson”, a 10 month old, Male, Chihuahua who was very sick and in need of surgery. Without surgery to remove the wire he ingested he could die. 4 Paws 1 Heart offered to pay for the needed medical care and Nelson is scheduled go to a wonderful rescue group as soon as he is recovered. Nelson was also neutered while in surgery and he had some long-overdue baby teeth that needed to be removed because they didn’t fall out when they were supposed to. ~ gina

Bella, Found by a Good Samaritan

8/19/13  This little girl was found by a good Samaritan almost 4 weeks ago after nearly being hit by a car. There has been contact with the party listed in the microchip records but they did not wish to claim her. Bella is now with a wonderful rescue organization and she will one day find her forever, loving home. A big thank you to Gina for trying so hard to find her family and for taking care of her. ~ diana

Moose Needs to Loose Weight Before His Surgery

8/9/13: Here’s a message from our good friends at Home Fur-Ever Rescue. We’re all hoping Moose can lose the weight which will make his hip surgery more successful and we’re happy that because of our supporters we can help the abandoned and abused like Moose: diana

“Now that Moose has found an awesome foster home and is getting regular exercise, his hip surgery will be scheduled as soon as he looses enough weight. We were once again contacted by 4 Paws 1 Heart to send medical dollars to help with Moose’s surgery. A great big thank you for the $300 check for Moose’s surgery. Please everybody go check out and like their page, they are a non profit organization that assist with medical dollars to rescues for vet care and help abandoned animals with vet care as well. Tell them Moose sent you!” ~ Home Fur-Ever Rescue

Ben and His Mom, Melissa

8/8/2013 – 4 Paws 1 Heart would like to thank Ben (pictured here) and his mom, Melissa, for the generous donation. Ben’s mom had a home party where the proceeds were earmarked for 4 Paws 1 Heart (although she through in a little extra). Ben’s mom was in Hurricane Katrina and he can relate to all of the homeless animals looking for their second chance for forever love. We love you too, Ben. ~ diana
