“There are many injuries and physical disorders that represent life-threatening emergencies. There is only one condition so drastic that it overshadows them all in terms of rapidity of consequences and effort in emergency treatment. This is the gastric dilatation and volvulus – the bloat.”  www.veterinarypartner.com

Guinness – 13 week old pup

Guinness is a 13 week old Pit puppy who is now in the care of “4 Paws 1 Heart” tonight. Owner took pup for his first walk on a leash. The pup was reluctant to walk, so the owner was advised by one of his friends to drag him. Result = Skinned up paw’s, bruising, bleeding, respiratory distress, terrified, and coughing up blood. The pup was signed over to “4 Paws 1 Heart”. We will provide the medical care he needs to get him through this…. ~ Gina

R.I.P. Black Little Pup

Pup with broken pelvis, broken femur, emaciated, and damage to both front leg’s, from being so severely malnourished. He was placed in a box and dumped in our parking lot tonight. Based on his injuries and quality of life we decided to do the humane thing and euthanize. Thank God our midnight technician saw him, or things could have been much worse. At least we were able to alleviate his suffering…this is the sad reality of working in this field. It is important that people know that this cruelty, neglect, and abuse exists. It’s everywhere, so please pay attention to your surroundings and report to authorities when you suspect it happening. ~ Gina

Little Nugget at just 4 weeks old.

Here’s our Little Nugget at just 4 weeks old. As Gina said, “she’s starting to look like a puppy”.

21 Days Old

The staff infection is cleared up, and only dried up scabs are left… She is eating like a champ from the bottle, but I’m now mixing canned food with the formula. Her weight is 6 oz. The only concern is her vision because of the staff infection. Hopefully, it didn’t do any permanent damage. She is on eye med’s..and time will tell… ~ Gina Paw’s Crossed!!  Keep saying your prayers for this little one!!

Update on Pom Puppy

The little foster pup is 19 days old today!  In a couple more day’s she’ll be three weeks old!!  She is a strong fighter!!  Today she weighs 5 oz!!! Continue to say your prayers for this precious baby.

I’m Too Young To Have a Name

01/16/2012 – This little one is the result of very ignorant people who thought they knew how to breed animals.  They took a tea cup male pom/yorkie (?) and mated him with a standard pom/yorkie(?) — result — 2 dead babies, 1 dead momma, and 1 little one now on her 3rd day of life with a staph infection and fighting to live.

After 24 hours of labor, the mom was brought in to the Emergency Hospital by these alleged “medically knowledgeable” people.  Two babies were found dead in the mom and one baby was literally saturated in her mom’s infection.  The mom was so infected and in pain, she had to be humanely euthanized.  The same people who bred this poor female, couldn’t even pay for her euthanasia, yet, they wanted to take the baby home with them.

After significant counseling, this 3 oz. baby was turned over to 4 Paws 1 Heart who paid all of the medical bills and she is safely in the hands of Gina who has been tube feeding and bottle feeding.  Her condition is very guarded and will need lots of prayers. .

Beaten Baxter Was Rescued

Baxter was beaten to the point that his hip was injured. He was rescued by a very kind woman who now needs help in diagnosing his injury. We were notified by this kind lady’s son of Baxter’s condition and 4 Paws 1 Heart decided to help Baxter get the exam he needs and further assist with medical care if needed. Reducing the number of abandoned dogs and cats by providing needed medical care is the mission of 4P1H.

4P1H made arrangements with the Michigan Humane Society to have Baxter seen by a doctor during the week of January 2, 2012.
Baxter was examined and x-rayed, and had blood work done at the Michigan Humane Society. It was determined that he has severe arthritis. The MHS provided pain medication and he is doing well. Baxter does not appear to be experiencing the pain he had prior to our involvement.
