1 POUND KITTEN MAKING PROGRESS

7//6/22 – Prayer Warriors Needed! Our good friend, Bambi Pesti Hartter, the angel behind raising $25,000 in picking up and returning cans and bottles, contacted me yesterday about this very sick kitten. We couldn’t get him into any vet within a reasonable time and, thankfully, Gina DeLuca Jenio, suggested he be brought to her so she could start some medical treatment until we could get into a veterinary clinic. There have been so many animals needing our help — more so in the last few years — and I’m forever thankful that we have so many generous donors and supporters who provide us with the funds to make a difference in so many lives. – diana.

Last night I was contacted by a friend and supporter of 4 paws 1 heart regarding a very weak stray kitten living nex tdoor to her. She said he was just laying there. When she got him to me he could barley stand and he smelled like death. He is very sick, malnourished, muscles are all wasted away, and he is all bones. He can barely swallow because of the inflammation in his throat but he loves to be pet and he’s made improvement since last night. Paws crossed. I’ll need help with a name. I’d estimate him to be at least 12 weeks old and 2 pounds under weight. He weighs about 1 pound.. Thank yo Bambi Pesti Hartter for getting this baby off the street! – Gina

JUNO NEEDS A LOT OF HELP WITH FIP

7/5/22 – And lastly for today, this is one of those cases which require serious expenses and prayers. FIP is deadly and I’ve talked about it before. You can easily learn more about it by doing some online research. A couple of years ago I learned of various groups, one such is FIP Warriors, who have advocated for FIP stricken cats and are involved in connecting FIP victims with the experimental drugs which have been known to save many lives. In the past we have been involved in a few of such cases. this past weekend, we were able to help with providing the medicine Juno will need to hopefully get through this deadly disease. Prayers and, if possible, donations make a difference. – diana.

STAN DUMPED AT A CAT COLONY IS FRIENDLY, NOW ADOPTABLE AFTER HIS TREATMENTS

7/1/22 – Stan is another cat who showed up in a colony cared for by a rescuer we’ve assisted in the past. Bonnie, his rescuer believes he had been dumped in the colony because he had not been seen before. Stan appeared to be blind and he was very skinny and appeared to have an infection. I authorized Stan to be seen at Orion Animal Hospital. He had his appointment and he had to be sedated to be examined because he was very scared. He was neutered while under sedation. The doctor believed he’s about 8 years old. They also found bite wounds on his shoulder and there was a tick on him which was removed. He had lost some of his fur and what was left felt rough. The doctor also determined that some teeth needed to be removed. It was confirmed that Stan is partially blind in one eye.

Stan did have his dental work and he has become very friendly and is now looking for his furever home. Anyone interested in making this happen should contact [email protected] – diana.

BOB LEFT BEHIND BUT IN BETTER SHAPE WITH HIS TEETH EXTRACTIONS NOW NEEDS A HOME.

7/1/22 – Bob appeared to have been left behind when his family moved. He was lucky enough to show up at a person’s home whom we’ve helped in this past. Although very sweet, Bob seemed to be in a lot of pain. and when his rescuer took him in to be neutered and vaccinated it was determined that Bob needed some teeth extracted. We were contacted and approved the surgery which was eventually completed and now Bob is a happy boy no longer in pain and his rescuer is committed to finding him a furever home. – diana.

BOBBIE, LOOKING FOR A HOME AFTER RESCUE AND PAW AMPUTATION

6/30/22 – Meet Bobbie. He was rescued from a mobile home park where we have helped with a considerable number of cats needing vaccines/spay/neuter/and treatment for upper respiratory infections. This little guy was found with string wrapped around his little paw. When the string was removed, half of his paw fell off. Fortunately, we were able to get him into one of our favorite veterinary hospitals, Patterson Veterinary, and yesterday his little paw was removed. Anyone interested in Bobbie should contact me and I will get you in touch with his rescuers. [email protected]

PANDA’S EYESIGHT MAY BE SAVED! NEEDS A FOIREVER HOME EITHER WAY.

6/29/22 – Panda Update. Panda is now being seen by Dr. Blasses, Orion Animal Hospital, who examined him last week, June 23. Dr. Blasses has been one of our ‘go to’ doctors for many years and she and Dr. Zalac are very experienced in eye issues. After last week’s appointment Dr. Blasses called me to give me her report. First, Panda has glaucoma and the eye pressure in his ‘good eye’ was 40! Now for those of you who aren’t familiar with glaucoma (like I am because I share the disease with Panda), normal eye pressure should be below 20 so you can see the concern we all had when we found this out. Interestingly enough, the eye pressure for the eye, which may need to be removed, was normal. Dr. Blasses explained that glaucoma in a kitten so young is very unusual and usually it is the result of an underlying infection. Consequently, a full blood panel was going to be done to determine what that might be. Dr. Blasses also said that the ‘bad eye’ appears to have been ulcerated at one time but that seemed to have ‘healed’ over. Panda does appear to have some vision although it may be murky. Panda was given eye drops (the same I use) for the high eye pressure and medication for the other eye. Yesterday Panda had a follow up visit and Dr. Blasses called me today and reported that the eye pressure had already returned to normal and she believed the other eye would eventually need to be removed but the final decision would be made when she received all of the results from the blood work. She did say that the results she has received thus far was very good but she had not yet received the results for toxoplasmosis.

Also, both Gina, our vet tech co-founder, and a few others on our page have asked about the use of “autologous serum eye drops”. I did ask the doctor about that and she said that the vets there do use the serum eye drops for diseases/issues such as eyes which have been ulcerated but she had not seen any research on its use with glaucoma (I have not been told about that either from my eye specialists). But she said that she would do that research and let me know what she learns.

So, in summary, Panda’s one eye will probably need to be removed but with someone so young, the longer we can wait, the better. For the eye with high pressure (glaucoma), he will need to be treated with the eye drops for the rest of his life. Consequently, we are all seeking out that very special person who can give Panda the love and care he will need. And, lastly, everyone is falling in love with this very sweet, very active kitten. Anyone interested should contact me at: [email protected] and I will pass the information on to his foster/rescuer. I will continue to update our followers and I, once again, want to remind everyone that without donations from our followers, we could not give these orphans a second chance at life. – diana.
