Gremlin, a Cat Starving and a Bag of Bones

10/17/24 – On October 6 I received the following: “I have a cat who has come to me on Saturday starving and a bag of bones skinny. I think she is a girl and she came from a home where she was neglected. Her ears are nothing but scar tissue and she seems to have an eye infection and she is completely emaciated. When she showed up on my porch she was covered in skunk spray. In spite of that, she’s super friendly. I have been feeding her and giving her water but I am worried that she won’t survive the winter in her current state as I am not able to bring her into my home. She looks old, but her teeth are all very white. I’m estimating her age based on her physical condition. All of her joints stick out. – Malissa”

Gremlin was seen yesterday at our partner veterinary hospital, Orion Animal Hospital. He does have an upper respiratory infection but didn’t need to be neutered. He also had a heart murmur. He did have fleas but no ear mites. He will be seen again in 4 weeks as a follow up and will receive vaccines as appropriate. Malissa has a few friends interested in adoption but if those fall through, her family will be keeping him because Gremlin’s already fitting in nicely. More lives changed because of our supporters and people who care. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/

RIP Ace

10/16/24 – RIP Ace. On August 18 I posted about sweet Ace. He was thrown out by his owners when they adopted a new kitten. He was obviously neglected if not abused. The poor little guy had an eye infection and it appeared something had happened to his back legs and he was in severe pain. Two appointments at two different veterinary clinics were made. One so he could get in quickly to be treated for the infection, possibly x-ray’d and given pain medications. The second appointment was at a hospital that could do a more thorough follow up which would include testing, vaccines, and neuter. While waiting for the second appointment, Ace seemed to be doing better. His eye issue was clearing up and the pain injection seemed to help; the first doctor thought the problem was arthritis or an old injury. Unfortunately, at the follow up appointment, x rays were done and it was found that Ace had several breaks to both pelvis and legs as well as some other internal injuries. The doctor and rescuer agreed that humane euthanasia would be the best option for Ace. Ace’s rescuer contacted me today with the following:

“I just wanted to thank you for everything you did for Ace. I appreciate the paw print. As sad as I am that he’s gone, it brings me comfort knowing he’s no longer in pain – Lindsey”

Thank you to the amazing rescuers, like Lindsey, who invest their time and love to save the orphans on our streets. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations

Happy Update on Pooh!

10/15/24 – Happy Update! On October 2 we posted about Pooh who was rescued and needed surgery for entropion in both eyes. He had his surgery yesterday and his life saver, Brooke, reported that he is doing great. Here are the the before and after photos.

This is how your donation dollars are spent and as I’ve said so many times before, it truly takes a village of caring people who want to make a difference. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/

Kali Was in Need of an Eye Removal

10/15/24 – Kali was rescued with another kitten who had a severe diarrhea issue but even more importantly, Kali was in need of an eye removal. Both of them were rescued from the streets near Lansing and the rescuer, Shelby, contacted us for assistance.

Kali was scheduled for eye removal (as you can see from the photo, she looks to have a pinpoint eye) and Maloney, the other cat was scheduled for his diarrhea issue. Here is Shelby’s update on Kali: “Kali is doing amazingly, and will be going to her new home soon! She’s finishing up her antibiotics. I’m so grateful for you.

I try to cover as much as I can financially for cat rescue costs, but being on my own without 501c3, I don’t have donors. I literally couldn’t have helped her without you. I’m telling everyone who will listen to donate money your way! I wish I could donate too, but I provide SO much food and litter for families that can’t afford it, along with spay/neuter/vaccination and other medical. I’m so incredibly thankful for Kali. She is just the sweetest girl.

Her street days in Lansing are over!!!-Shelby” Without our supporter/donors, sweet orphans like Kali would never have that second chance at life.

Roman and Romeo

10/15/24 – Roman and Romeo “randomly showed up” at their rescuer’s home. Unfortunately, Rebecca (homeowner) already has 3 cats but she couldn’t turn them away. Roman and Romeo were authorized to be tested, vaccinated, and neutered at Rescue Veterinary Services and will be looking for their furever home.

If you are interested, please contact Rebecca at: [email protected] – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations

Cookie Was Found Wandering

10/11/24 – Cookie. This beauty was found wandering around the rescuer’s home for a few days. She is very friendly and Kimberly, her rescuer started feeding her while trying to find an owner. No one claimed her so Kimberly brought her in and contacted us.

Cookie is very thin and has some bumps and a rash under her chin. She will be seen at Rescue Veterinary Services where she will be treated and fully vetted which includes vaccines and spay. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/

Prayers for Gizmo That His Eye Can Be Saved

10/11/24 – On September 28 we posted about Gizmo and Baby Girl; cared for by a kind woman who had recently lost her husband. She became concerned about Gizmo because his eyes appeared infected and they both needed vaccines and spay/neuter.

We first authorized Gizmo to be seen at Groesbeck Animal Hospital for a possible upper respiratory infection so that he could be treated quickly. We then authorized both to be seen at Rescue Veterinary Services for vaccines and spay/neuter.

Upon seeing the doctor there, it was suggested that Gizmo see an eye specialist. Gizmo will now be seen by one of our “go-to” doctors at Orion Animal Hospital who I trust implicitly with eye issues. Prayers for Gizmo that his eye can be saved. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/

Precious Found Wandering the Streets

10/11/24 – Precious was found wandering the streets — just a baby bleeding from the nose. Her finder cleaned her eyes and nose and contacted us for help.

Precious was taken to our great friends Five Mile Animal Hospital where she was treated for an upper respiratory infection.

Once recovered from the infection she was vaccinated for rabies and distemper and when appropriate spayed. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/

Sweetie, Thrown out of a Car onto a Better Life

10/10/24 – Her finders believe she was thrown out of a car. She sat in the front of a house for 10 hours while the homeowners tried to find her owner.

She was taken in by a kind woman whose daughter has fallen in love and we were thankful to have Sweetie seen by one of our partner veterinary clinics, Five Mile Animal Hospital. Sweetie tested negative for any diseases and will start her vaccines in two weeks.

A huge thanks to those who responded to a call for help for this very sweet puppy. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/
