Nautical Tails

8/5/15 – As a result of the St. Clair Shores (MI) Animal Care and Welfare Committee working with the Communications Department, Nautical Tails was created. It is a segment aired during the St. Clair Shores Local Matters program. Nautical Tails focuses on the many issues involving animals in our community. In this segment, our two committee members, Liz Nicosia and Rick Gudenau (husband of our Board member, Dee) talk about maintaining a cat community. I know that many of our friends care for cat colonies and I thought you might like to see this. ~ diana https://vimeo.com/135256279

They are fully vetted (thank you 4 Paws 1 Heart, litterbox experts and more adorable than these photos show! They are cat and dog social. I would consider solo adoption IF another young cat is in the family. Baby Kitten – Abused and Left to Die

8/2/15 – This baby allegedly fell off a roof and was hit by a car. We don’t know if she will have permanent damage. A very kind supporter of 4 Paws 1 Heart took care of her initial visits and treatment and 4 Paws 1 Heart will take care of her next visit. She is in a loving temporary home at this time. Our commitment will be to make sure this sweetie has a good quality of life without pain and suffering. Only time will tell. Prayers for this sweet one. Here’s a message from her foster mom. ~ diana

“This precious baby wants to thank 4 paws 1 heart for allowing her a fighting chance. Her story starts off sad but with love support and care will have a wonderful ending. 3 days ago she was said to have been hit by a car and fell off of a garage. She went to the vet dehydrated, weak, skinny, unable to move. After 2 nights at the vet she can now hold her head up. Move her legs and try to stand. Sadly we won’t know everything until time passes but none of us or 4 paws could consider euthanizing a maybe 12 week old kitten without trying. She will need prayers, love, and potentially more vet care minus normal spay and shots. But even through the negative she is a lover.” – Mom Missy

Duchess – Emaciated and a New Mom, She Struggles to Live

8/2/15 – 4 Paws 1 Heart has helped many kittens this Spring and Summer. We’ve helped with as little as basic vetting to such serious conditions as severe upper respiratory infections and amputations. This is Duchess. She had a litter of kittens 3 weeks ago but because of her emaciated condition she could not take care of them so her rescuer has been bottle feeding them while caring for Duchess. This poor mama has been struggling and has been taken to the vet a couple of times because she hasn’t been eating as she should and has been very lethargic. Since her last vet visit last Friday, she seems to be turning the corner and is eating a little better. Please send a little prayer her way. We hope she can fully recover and find her own forever home someday. ~ dianaduchessw:missygarnett

Bailey – Update

7/30/15 – Update on the bailey7:30:15Senior Cocker Spaniel, Bailey  – Well, I got to meet this little sweetheart yesterday. She does have heart issues and had a considerable amount of fluid. The vet took her off the medication previously prescribed because there were no signs from the blood work taken that she was suffering from these ailments. The vet prescribed some ‘water’ pills and wants to see her again in one week. I huge thank you to her new mom for dropping by the house so that I could meet my new fur ‘goddaughter’. Here she is waiting at the doctor’s office. ~ diana

Daisy – Update

7/29/15 – Update on Daisy: Dr. Easton spoke with Dr. Zalac who was knew of Daisy’s condition. Dr. Easton suggested a gel be included in Daisy’s eye medication and said that nothing could be done until she was at least two pounds; she is currently 14.6 oz. Unfortunately, there is no way of avoiding her eye to rupture. She is eating well and likes to play. Keep her in your prayers. ~ dianaDaisyw:patriciabrown7:28:15

Johnny The Kitten – Found Injured Wandering the Streets

7/29/15 – Meet Johnny the Kitten. He is about 10 weeks old and his leg was broken when a calf accidentally stepped on it. A very kind woman rescued him, took him to a vet and immediately got him help using her own money. We commend the rescuer and the veterinarian who performed surgery and provided a payment plan to the rescuer (very few do). We were happy to help with the medical bill and have since learned that Johnny is doing great. As his rescuer Samantha said “I took this baby because he has no voice and he has been like this for at least two days that I know of. He is very sweet and loving. He deserves a chance. He has a long life ahead of him.” dianaJohnnytheKitten7:29:15

Bailey – After 7 Years, She Finds Herself Without a Home

7/28/15 – This beautiful 9 year old female was a victim of a puppy mill; at 2 years old she was adopted from a shelter. After 7 years in a home, she was again in need of a forever home and a chance to live out the few years she has left with people who will love and care for her. A friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart stepped up and took this senior girl into her home. 4 Paws 1 Heart will be taking care of her visit to a veterinarian so that she will be ready to start a new life with a new mom and fur siblings. ~ dianaBailey
