PAWS CROSSED FOR JACK

A 4 Paws 1 Heart friend Char contacted us for help with a very sweet boy on the street with an injured eye. They named him Jack. We got him in with one of our partner vet hospitals for an exam, feluk/fiv test, and some meds. Unfortunately, the eye is not better so we will be checking him out again next week. Paws Crossed for Jack. Gina

PUMPKIN’S CAUTIONARY TALE

9/28/23 – A cautionary story for anyone working in a store where items such as pumpkins or other large items are piled high outside. Pumpkin was rescued by an employee at a Kroger store. He was found buried under the pile of pumpkins. She took Pumpkin to a nearby vet who did some initial x rays and exams but his belly was extended resulting from some injury or illness and his leg appeared to be broken. We were contacted and Pumpkin was authorized to have additional imaging and tests done at Orion but before Pumpkin could get there, his rescuer contacted me with the following:
“Hello, so the vet that I was at ended up doing some imaging, and determined that this baby had many crush injuries, Including a ruptured kidney and his penis was necrotic and dying. We decided that it was best to humanely help him die. They didn’t charge me. Once again, thank you so much to you and to 4 Paws for helping the community so much. – Michelle”
Thank you to the clinic which didn’t charge Michelle and helped Pumpkin pass the Rainbow Bridge. – diana

BEAR

9/28/23 – In late January, 2023 Bear was rescued from a vacant home in Flint. Bear was tied up and abandoned. At about 7-8 years old, no one knew how long this poor boy had spent his life on a chain. His rescuer, Kim T., whom we’ve worked with quite a few times, took Bear into All About Animals where he was found to be positive for heart worm. We were asked to help with the heart worm treatment and we were ready but Kim was able to raise enough money from other sources to start and complete Bear’s treatment. The other day, Kim contacted me to see if we could help with Bear’s follow up heart worm test and to have a lump on the back of his knee checked. We were happy to do that. Thankfully, Bear tested negative for heart worm and the lump turned out to be a cyst which the doctor said didn’t have to be treated unless it caused a future problem. Bear is now set with 6 months of preventative and hopefully a happy future. Here are the photos when Bear was rescued and today — what a difference love can make. – diana

MARZIPAN IS STILL LOOKING FOR A FUREVER FAMILY

9/28/23 – On July 13 and 14 Marzipan’s story was posted on this page. Here is an August update from his saviors, Andrea Dow and Aimee Martin. Now this very sweet beautiful baby is still looking for a furever family. Please share and if you are interested, contact Aimee as indicated by Gina. – diana

Marzapan is 16 weeks old and 4.7 lbs!!! When I picked him up over a month ago he was dying and less than 1 lb. He had a terrible URI and round worms. We put out an urgent plea to get donations to keep him at Advanced Veterinary Care Center and than transferred him to Moore Veterinary Hospital for the rest of his care. 4 Paws 1 Heart has covered his medical over the last month. He is now vaccinated and his neuter is scheduled for 9/11/23.

He has been quarantined and is now looking for some kitten friends to socialize with. It literally took a village to keep him alive. I am so glad to be a part of that village. Aimee

MUFFINS ONE YEAR LATER

9/27/23 – One year later and what a difference. Muffins was not the only fighter, our co-founder, Gina, and extraordinary licensed veterinary technician, fought for Muffins and searched and searched for the veterinary care which would save her life and relieve her from a very miserable health issue. Gina and her husband, Dave, traveled from St. Clair Shores to Lansing and from St. Clair Shores to Flint and Gina made so many calls and did so much research. Finally it was the amazing veterinarian at Animal Surgical Center in Flint who had the answer. Please check out Muffins’ journey on our website because this ‘before; photo is nothing compared to what she looked like when she was rescued by our 4 Paws 1 Heart friend and hard working collector of returnables ($25,000 worth), Bambi H. Truly a miracle that would have never happened if not for our generous and loyal supporters. – diana

ALLEY

9/27/23 – Alley was found homeless and was rescued by a good samaritan. We were asked for help with veterinary care. The finder was concerned Alley could be pregnant so she contacted AAAR for a Spay surgery but it was a 4 month wait. We offered to get Alley checked out and fixed right away through one of our partner vets at Moore Veterinary Hospital. Alley is recovering and her finder has decided to keep her. Thank you for your continued support. Gina

9/26/23 – Angel was a very special dog. She provided blood for transfusions and always helped Gina with the babies she would bring in to foster after 4 paws 1 Heart took care of the medical. Unfortunately she crossed the Rainbow Bridge a few years ago but her legacy lives on in the many who she played a role in saving. And it’s dogs like Angel, whom 4 ignorant, alleged humans demand to be killed in Grosse Pointe Shores, MI.
