Update – I need help..

Sprinkles needs to go with a rescue with a positive reinforcement trainer that can work with her. She has had little training with confidence, impulse control, and boundaries. I feel she is definitely trainable and deserving of a chance. Someone with knowledge of the breed, experience, and patience could help her. She walks good on a leash, friendly with everyone she has met, food motivated, pottie trained, healthy, spayed, seems well and unreactive with other dogs and current on vaccines, heart worm negative. One week ago this little girl was found curled up in a flower pot inside someone’s yard. The pic is below..

It was pouring rain and she was crying to come inside. The finder called me and I offered to scan her for a microchip, but she didn’t have one.

My manager was kind enough to say she could stay for her stray hold which was through the city of Eastpointe. Unfortunately, no one has contacted animal control looking for her. She had yellow stains on her rear area and her stomach which indicates she was possibly in a crate long enough to sit in urine. She has not had one accident in her crate in a week, so I suspect she was sitting for several hours.

We estimate her to be 2 or 3 yrs old. She is pottie trained and we are going to test her with other dogs soon. Next week she will be fixed.

4 paws 1 heart is funding all of her medical care. So far she has needed all vaccines, poop check, flea, tick, heartworm prevention, treatment for diarrhea, bloodwork and the spay is next week. We are currently calling her “Sprinkles” because of her adorable dots. While she is in our care, the staff has been giving lots of love and they are also walking her on our lunch breaks while working with her on commands. She needs some basic training but she is very smart and trainable. She is loving, smart, and friendly with everyone she has met. Walking is very enjoyable for her and she is very food motivated. 5/6/22 – Trooper was rescued in February by a very caring family who had been seeing him in the neighborhood and feeding him. It turned out he was blind from glaucoma and today we authorized his pre-surgery blood work and his eye removal surgery. He has become a loving inside pet who was never truly feral. Prayers for this beautiful baby. – diana.

5/5/22 – Meet Oliver. Rescued after a great deal of work–no names. He appeared to have a weakness in his back legs. He had a rubber band imbedded around his testicles in an attempt to neuter him. Thankfully, we were contacted and one of our faves, Dr. Z, saw him and actually reported back to me that not only was this poor boy inhumanely suffering because of the ‘backyard’ (my term) attempt to neuter him but he had also been shot. X-Rays showed shell fragments in his front shoulders but fortunately the bullets had missed his spine. Dr. Z said “he is going to make a lovely house cat as he purred and was social for everything”. If anyone is interested in this baby, please look up Kittens in the Mittens who have taken him under their rescue. – diana.

5/4/22 – For anyone who believes that cats can and should live “in the wild” or be “inside/outside” cats — please read our recent posts. Again, another RIP. Herman was another beautiful boy, very feral, rescued when he showed up in a cat community. Part of his nose was missing from what appeared to be an infection. He was brought to a veterinary hospital with our approval and it was found that he was missing bone and a tooth was protruding through the hole that was his nose. The doctor thought the cause might have been a spider bite. He was allowed to cross the Rainbow Bridge where he would not longer be in pain. Thank you to our 4p1h friend, Melissa P., for rescuing him and saving him from days of horrific pain on the streets. – Diana

5/2/22 – Stan showed up in a colony cared for by a friend of 4p1h. He appeared to be blind in one eye and had several bite wounds on his body. He also appeared to have an upper respiratory infection. He had not been seen before and the rescuer believes he was ‘dumped’ into the colony. Stan was seen at one of our favorite veterinary hospitals. He is estimated to be about 8 years old and also had several dental issues. Stan was treated for his wounds and infection and will be scheduled for the dental work. Although Stan is a little fearful, he does enjoy being petted. He will be looking for a furever, loving home. If you are interested, DIANA

5/2/22 – Another orphan crossed the Rainbow Bridge this weekend. Felix showed up in a yard and appeared to have been hit by a car. Unfortunately, It was decided by all to let Felix peacefully pass on. This is such a difficult time for our abandoned and often unwanted fur babies. – diana.

5/1/22 – RIP Sweet Thunder. Last week a friend of 4p1h, Tina, contacted us about this very sweet, very sick cat who was on the streets needing help. Tina thought Thunder was partially blind, with a severe respiratory infection. He was also very emaciated. I authorized Thunder to be taken to Veterinary Medical Hospital and after he was examined I spoke with the doctor. Thunder was in very bad shape and required fluids and injections for a severe infection, his condition was also very much compromised because of FIV. The doctor couldn’t promise anything but we agreed to give Thunder a chance. Tina visited Thunder in the hospital and after a few days it was decided that this very sweet boy should be allowed to cross the Rainbow Bridge. Although, I rarely meet the animals we help, my heart breaks with the rescuer who tries so very hard to give these orphans a fighting chance. 4/28/22 – Hazelnut showed up on the rescuer’s porch. She has obvious skin issues and an infection and in need of spay and vaccines as well of a heart worm test. She is scheduled for the vet and we will report on her health when we get it. She will be looking for her furever family once she is healthy and has been able to decompress. – diana.
