RIP Dawson and Dante

10/22/16 – RIP Sweet Babies – Dawson and Dante. A few weeks ago we received a request for help from a woman who pulled a nursing mom and her kittens from a high kill shelter. Unfortunately, two days ago two of the four kittens had to be humanely euthanized. Dawson was failing to thrive. Dante (the black kitten) was found with a wound on his head and by the time he got to the vet the same day, the wound had grown. It was suspected that it was cancer. Our hearts break for these sweet animals who must rely on us to survive but sometimes all of our help and love, just isn’t enough. ~ diana

Although donations continue to be slow, we couldn’t turn our back for this sweet senior who was in significant pain. We hope to have a strong turnout at our upcoming fundraisers and donations can also be made through paypal by using the link on this page. Thank you from Rosie Roo and all of the abandoned and neglected animals who are helped by the generosity of our friends. ~ diana

Rosie Roo is home!!!!! Woooohoooo!!!!! Sooo, Rosie had 20 teeth removed but she still has some 😆 She did super awesome. The Dr said it was the 2nd worse case shes ever seen when it comes to a dental. She recieved a antibiotic injection, and antibiotics, pain meds and eardrops to take home. They say Rosie is a fighter with a huge desire to get on with her new life. Her Dr said she had to be in a huge amount of pain for a long time, but no more! I cant imagine her being any sweeter, but we’re expecting her to feel better then she has in a long time in just a few days. Shes snoozing away right now, very happy to be home. Huge thankyou to 4 Paws 1 Heart and all who donated towards Rosie Roo’s care, becuse of you Rosie has her Second Chance

RIP Sweet Viper

10/19/16 – My heart breaks to report that sweet Viper had to be humanely euthanized yesterday. Viper was rescued in August. He showed up one day on a very kind woman’s property; emaciated, flea and tick infested, and suffering from a serious upper respiratory infection. Since August he has made several trips to the veterinary for different medical issues and throughout all of this pain and discomfort, he always loved to cuddle. Yesterday, it was determined that Viper had FIP and could not be saved. The rescuer, the doctor, and I, all decided to end Viper’s suffering and let him cross the rainbow bridge. RIP Sweet Boy ~ diana

Bella and Two Kittens Will Never Reproduce Again

10/19/16 – Bella and two kittens were roaming in a neighborhood and being cared for by a homeowner. The two kittens were easily trapped and vetted but the mom, who everyone thought was feral, was more elusive. But with great commitment, the mom, Bella, was trapped and brought to the vet to be spayed and vaccinated — everyone thought she would have to be released BUT they were wrong. Bella turned out to be a very sweet cat who was either thrown out or escaped from her owner. 4 Paws 1 Heart took care of her medical needs and she is up for adoption through A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue. ~ diana

Axel – Kept on a Chain 24/7 with Entropion Requiring Surgery

10/18/16 – Meet Axel. He has been a very neglected dog for many years. He has been kept on a chain 24/7 outside for most of his life and just watered and fed with very little human interaction and no medical attention. Fortunately, two very kind women who are relatives brought him to a vet and learned he has a condition called entropion eyelid.

Per the VCA Hospital website, “Entropion is an abnormality of the eyelids in which the eyelid “rolls” inward. This inward rolling often causes the hair on the surface of the eyelid to rub against the cornea (outer part of the eyeball) resulting in pain, corneal ulcers or corneal erosions. This corneal damage can also result in corneal scarring, that can interfere with vision. Most dogs will squint, hold the eye shut and tear excessively (epiphora). Interestingly, many flat-faced dogs with medial entropion (involving the corner of the eyes near the nose) exhibit no obvious signs of discomfort. In most cases, both eyes are affected.”

The caring women contacted 4 Paws 1 Heart and I told them that if they could get Axel permanently surrendered to them, we would help with Axel’s surgery. Axel will be the third dog we have helped with entropion eyelid surgery. Unfortunately, one of the dogs we helped, needs surgery again — which is not uncommon. Well, the ladies did it and now Axel is under their care and ownership and we are arranging for Axel’s surgery in the very near future. Once completed, Axel will be looking for his forever, loving home.

Ali – Update on His Surgery

10/17/16  – Ali Update! Thank you all for sharing, donating, saying a prayer, or just being positive. Ali has been through more than any puppy should experience and it all began at 2 days old he’s almost 6 months old now.. He has also been a full-time job for me, but as with all of my fosters it is worth it in the end. I know that he will be loved for many years when his permanent home is found. His incisions are healing well and his foot has 2 more weeks of splinting. We are definitely still looking for donations if you are interested in contributing towards his medical. Thank you, Gina

Starlite – Found Wandering the Streets

10/17/16 – Please say a few prayers for Starlite. He was rescued while wandering the streets, only weeks old and with a serious upper respiratory infection. He is now 10 weeks old and is still under 2 lbs. Because of his conditions, he hasn’t been able to be vaccinated yet but he has had to see the doctors twice already. We are waiting for tests to return from the doctor and we are praying that whatever is ailing him, it will be treatable. We will keep you updated. ~ diana

Cassie – Running the Streets – Heart Worm Positive

10/10/16 – This beautiful girl was running the streets and it took hours for her rescuers to finally catch her. Several times she was almost hit by a car and at one point she was even being ‘sexually assaulted’ by another dog. Several attempts have been made to find an owner without success. 4 Paws 1 Heart was then contacted for what was thought to be basic medical assistance. The rescuers were concerned that she could be pregnant. Cassie was taken to the vet where it was found that she was in heat; there were no signs of pregnancy. Unfortunately, what was found is that she is heart worm positive. As all of you know, we are at a low point with finances but the doctor believes treatment must start as soon as possible. We are working with the rescuers to start the initial 30 day treatment and hope that we will be successful with our upcoming fundraisers so that we can assist with the final treatment
