Cats & Kittens in Desperate Need in Mobile Home Park

8/3/16 – Although I have a good 40 more cats/kittens to share with you who we’ve helped over the past two months, I wanted to make all of our friends aware of a current project being conducted right now by some of our friends.

Nearly 100 cats and kittens are in jeopardy of being killed in two mobile home parks in New Baltimore. Even, if they are not poisoned or shot (as has been threatened), without our intervention, they will continue to reproduce to even more overwhelming levels.

A few community advocates got together to begin trapping these animals to not only get them spayed and neutered but because many of them will either die or lose their eyes due to severe upper respiratory infections. They contacted 4 Paws 1 Heart to see if we could back them. Although our donations continue to be slow, we agreed to provide as much medical treatment as possible.

Many of these cats are just kittens and worthy of forever homes. Others, just need to be stopped from reproducing. Many have serious upper respiratory infections. In fact, one kitten was found with an eye missing and our great friends at A Hopeful Heart took in this sweet baby.

So far only 12 cats/kittens have been trapped but more could be done with your help. Please consider making a donation to 4 paws 1 heart (the donate link is on this page or by mail at P.O. Box 84, St.Clair Shores, MI 48080) or opening your home to one of these sweet babies. Please contact Rachel Gerstner at rachel9932@gmail.com if you think you can help with trapping or placement.

4 Paws 1 Heart will be going into its 7th year of helping the abandoned, stray, and abused and I’ve never seen the need so great. Thanks for your consideration and we will keep you informed. Please help us save these innocents who never asked to be born.

Lacy – Left on the Streets Suffering from Heart Worm

8/1/16 – Happy August 1. Actually, I’m not too happy because it just means we are getting closer to the end of summer. Although, it is Monday and our last month of true summer, I wanted to start your day with a happy update. You might remember Lacy. It was this past April when Lacy and her new born puppies were found in a vacant rental unit. Thankfully, the agent of the management company talked with her co-workers and mama and her babies were all taken in. The puppies all found their way into a forever homes, but mama Lacy was found to be heart worm positive. That is when we received a call for help. We agreed to pay for Lacy’s heart worm treatment and today I am happy to report that Lacy is heart worm free and doing well. The only problem is that she needs a forever home. She is currently living at the Management’s headquarters and although she gets lots of attention during the day, she is without human companionship at night and on weekends. Her foster mom says she is a great girl and would love to be a part of someone’s family. If you are interested in sweet Lacy, please contact Debby at debby@rondoinvestment.com Thank you for helping us make miracles happen. ~ diana

Twix – Found on the Street with a Severe Upper Respiratory Infection

7/30/16 – You might remember that Snickers came to us a few years back. A very caring little boy and his mom heard the weak meows for help, and found this very sick kitten almost frozen in an icy puddle in an alley in Hamtramck. After many people came together,  this little boy survived and was eventually adopted into the best home ever. Today, Snickers’ mom and and dad, Dee and Rick, continue to pay it forward. Prayers that Twix will make the same miraculous recovery that our Snickers did. – dianatwix-2twix-3twix-1

Frieda – Dumped on the 4th of July

7/28/16 – Meet Freedom aka Frieda! She was dumped on the 4th of July. 4 paws 1 heart offered to help with financial care to get her checked out and up to date with everything. Turns out she is showing signs of incontinence. Our good friend Lisa took this pup into her rescue and we are paying for her continued care. She may need to see a specialist unless medicine will control the problem. Then, she will need a spay and the final vaccinations. Please say big prayers for her recovery because it will be very difficult to place a urinary incontinence pup:( If you would like to donate towards Freda we would certainly appreciate any help. Gina

Roo – Needs Heart Surgery

7/25/16 – Meet “Roo”
This puppy is in need of heart surgery. When he was found we were contacted for the help he needed to have a consultation. An appointment was set up with a board certified Cardiologist, Dr Brown. As a result of the exam and ultrasound it was discovered that Roo does have a congenital heart defect which can be fixed with surgery. His foster parents are raising money for that surgery now. We hope that our assistance in getting him through the first step with Dr Brown will assist in giving him that second chance of life. It is because of your support that we are able to help those in need, those like Roo, get started on their new journey.. Gina

Kittens and Cats of the Summer, 2016

7/25/16 – Over the next couple of weeks, I will be sharing the many cats and kittens we have helped over the past month. Many of these stray and abandoned babies were found in condominium complexes – usually abandoned when their owner moved; in industrial sites and woods, where, again, people will just throw away an unwanted pet,; or in mobile home parks, under mobile homes, with kittens dying from upper respirator infections. If anyone is interested in giving any of these babies a forever loving home, please check out our facebook page, Friends of 4 Paws 1 Heart. This page was especially created for all of the individual rescuers we help with medical bills. Thanks again, to all of our friends who make our work possible. ~ diana

Bonnie – Left Alone; Heart Worm Positive

7/22/16 – Bonnie was rescued from the streets and found to be heart worm positive. We were contacted to see if we could pay for Bonnie’s heart worm treatment. We were happy we could. Bonnie has started her treatment and she is doing great. A huge thanks to her rescuer, Erin, and the great veterinarians who are so willing to work with us. ~ diana

Bailey – Almost Died After 12 Dead Kittens Were Removed

7/21/16 – Bailey was rescued by Angels for Animals, a very small rescue who was in the throes of also trying to save three kittens with distemper. Bailey was pregnant and eventually needed an emergency c-section where it was found that all 12 kittens were dead. Bailey is doing well. My heart breaks when I see what all of these poor animals go through because of so many humans who fail them. We were happy to be there for Bailey. ~ diana
