Smokey – Rescue Failure — Before and After

1/26/15 – Good Monday Morning Update – Smokey was brought into the emergency in April, 2014. He had been abandoned and needed immediate medical care. The rescuer, Francine, took him in during his recovery and then tried to find him his forever loving home. Well that home turned out to be Francine’s. Have a wonderful life sweet boy! And, thank you, Francine. Here is a photo from July, 2014 and one from today. ~ diana

LUCY – She Was Kicked So Viciously That She Lost Her Leg

1/25/15 Happy Udpate – Remember Sweet Lucy? She was kicked so hard by a man in the neighborhood, she had to eventually have her leg amputated. Her rescuer made several trips from Port Huron to the emergency in Harper Woods, in an effort to save Lucy from her injuries. The evil man is no longer in the neighborhood, the rescuer was unsuccessful in getting the police interested in investigating the cruelty, but, nonetheless, a beautiful life was saved and here she is today.~ dianaLucy-was kicked by a neighbor and had to have her leg amputated;current1:19:15

Marlo – Left Alone When His Owner Died, Now Has a Loving Home

marlo1:27:15

1/25/14 My heart is melting. Marlo came to ‘us’ from our favorite animal control officer (ACO), Lisa Taylor. Unfortunately, the first foster home he was placed in was not a good fit and after being AWOL for a couple of days, we truly feared he was dead or ran off. With the help of another caring ACO, Marlo was found and, although emaciated and scared, he was otherwise healthy. Our good friends at Ferndale Cat Shelter worked with us during the whole ordeal, took him in to find a loving home; and, now look at this sweetheart. Thank You everyone. Have a good life, Marlo. ~ diana

“No more worries about Marlo (the cat left alone in the house for weeks when his former owner died in hospital) enjoying his new life. He settles in on the couch quite comfortably of his own accord now. Here he is playing leg warmer for new mom Gail and happily sharing space with his new brother Milo. Happy family. Thank you so much for helping this guy. ~ Ferndale Cat Shelter”

Soup has been Adopted!!!

1/19/15 – Soup came into our lives one year ago when a good Samaritan found him on her lawn with his head stuck in a soup can.  We later found out he had a broken pelvis, probably a result of being attacked while he was helpless to defend himself.  He was fostered by our good friend, Denise, until his pelvis healed and then Gina took him in.  He loved Gina’s Angel, and every other foster Gina would bring him.  But, we always knew he deserved a loving family to call his own.  We are happy to report that the day has finally come.  Here he is, smiling and very comfortable with his new loving family.  Wishing you a long life of love and happiness, our dear Soup. ~ diana

Sharla (aka Toko) – Found Wandering in an Abandoned, Vacant Home

1/19/15 – Sharla (aka Toko) – She is about one year old and was found wandering around in an abandoned home; she was probably left behind. She is very tiny and sweet and will be spayed this coming week. We are thankful, as always, for our friend Jo A. who took the call, Debra B. who transported her for vetting, and my personal friend of many years and new member of the 4 Paws 1 Heart Team, Angela R. for rescuing this baby. Anyone interested in adopting her should contact Jo at [email protected] ~ dianasharla:toko1:18:15 sharla:toko1:19:15::

Helena – Update

1/16/14 – Happy TGIF – Just the other day, I was thinking about our sweetheart, Helena. Thank You to the supporters of 4 Paws 1 Heart who made it possible for us to pay the medical treatment which required eye removal, thank you to you, Nicole Norton, for rescuing her, fostering her, and loving her, thank you to Dr. Steve of Healthy Paws Veterinary for always working with us, and thank you to the adoptive parents. I think of Helena often. Here is a posting from Nicole. ~ diana

“Today marks 1 year since I found my sweet Helena. She instantly stole my heart. Found on a brutally cold day so sick and afraid in a junk yard. A ton of people came together to make it possible for me to give her the care and love she needed to make a full recovery. I can’t thank you all enough.
Helena now has the best mom in the world, thank you Jill Johnson for loving her. ~ Nicole”

kellerafteroperation9:27:13 Keller1:14:15Buddy-PortHuronjenmartin1:13:15ryker1:12:151/14/15 – Happy Lunch Hour Updates from and for our friends:

Keller – Here is Keller after his operation to remove his eyes in September, 2013 and how he looks today after much love and attention from his mom, Pat.

Buddy – The handsome male picked up by our new friend, Jennifer, after we were contacted by the woman holding him in this photo. Just six days after he was rescued from below zero temperatures, here he is waiting for his big day, Friday, when he will be neutered — compliments of 4 Paws 1 Heart. P.S. There is a good chance that his foster mom will be a foster failure. (paws crossed)

And, last but not least, here is our boy Ryker who is still looking for his forever home although he is safe and secure with his new foster mom, Angela, a dear friend who I’ve known since she was in high school and I was still working for a living. Ryker’s leg had to be amputated and shortly after we found what we hoped would be his forever home. Unfortunately, his very loving dad became very ill and could no longer take care of him. We are very thankful to have been contacted so that we could try once more to find Ryker his forever home. If you are interested, please contact Gina at [email protected] ~ diana
