Keller Surgery Update
9/12/13 – 9/12/13 First let me apologize — some people have been asking for an update on Keller and I wondered why. As soon as I talked to his mom on Tuesday, I posted the update. But, as I look through our timeline I can’t find it; the only update is Pat’s. So let me let everyone know what is going on. Keller is doing great. His eye surgery went well and he is to have the stitches taken out of his eyelids on September 24. At that time he will also get his vaccinations. Keller wasn’t able to get neutered in that only one testicle could be found so there is a chance that there is a testicle that hasn’t descended. The doctors suggest that Keller have surgery for this condition in about 6 months. In that there is no danger of Keller using his manhood to “get in trouble”, we all feel it’s best to wait. 4 Paws 1 Heart will keep the donated money aside to make sure all expenses up to the neutering and potential surgery for the testicle is covered. Pat will be signing papers to make our little Keller a permanent member of her household. I’ve asked Pat for an update. Thanks again to all of our friends for your prayers and support. ~ diana

PRAYERS AND POSITIVE ENERGY NEEDED
9/9/13 – PRAYERS AND POSITIVE ENERGY NEEDED: Early tomorrow morning our little Keller will be having surgery to remove his eyes. He will be taken to the vet today so that he will be ready first thing in the a.m. Our good friend, Dee (mother of Snickers), feels very strongly that Keller will be fine and that her dad, whose birthday is September 10 and is now in heaven, will be watching over Keller during his surgery. Here was Dee’s posting two weeks after her dad passed away last year. ~ diana
“Last night I decided to ask Dad to send me a sign that he is at peace, is happy and to see if he is smiling again.
I go to bed, wake up, go feed the 4 black feral kitties that hang in our lot next door. These cats true feral cats, they run when you get near them (but I’m working on them). So anyway, I get my coffee, going to lounge in bed for a few and Rick comes in with his coffee and says – there is a black kitty sitting under the patio table. I jump up and I say “HANK” – that was Hank spot when she wanted fed. Hank was the first feral kitty we started feeding –that was last winter -she came near us but never touched us. We haven’t seen Hank for 2-3 months, right after she moved her kitties from a short stay in our woodpile.
I run out to feed Hank, to see if it was Hank – AND IT WAS! She did her little dance around rubbing on the patio chairs & table. I love Hank. (remember, Hank is a black color kitty)
So I go back into the house all elated. Hank is safe. Then I started to think about it…Dad sent Hank to tell me he was happy. How do I know this?? When we were home 2 weeks ago, My sister Sharon Brown Furbee was going through pictures she brought and she says “here do you want this one, I have an extra one” (it is the only one she had a double of)
The photo here is the one that my sister gave me.
If you don’t believe….maybe you should start.” dee

Keller Scheduled for Surgery

Keller is a great little mouser.
Hobbes and Calvin Need a Home
HOBBES AND CALVIN NEED A HOME: These 2 male little sweethearts, approximately 10 weeks old, were both terrified and hiding inside a car motor when a Good Samaritan found them and immediately brought them into Animal Urgent Care seeking help. Both kittens are healthy and were tested. Now they are in need of someone to provide shelter and food under the backing of a rescue group until adopted — or, a permanent or foster home. If someone can help them please email me. ~ gina.4paws1heart@gmail.com

4 Little Lost Souls
4 Little Lost Souls, only hours old, were rescued by our friends at Providing For Paws. They were brought into Emergency and two died before leaving the hospital. Lisa, a PFP foster, took the babies into her home, but only Molly survived. Lisa spent many sleepless nights of bottle feeding but look at Molly today. She is available through Providing For Paws. ~ diana

Sheldon
Many times a day our local rescue groups receive dozens of calls from people needing help in placing the abandoned and abused. Even though we are not a rescue we also receive our share of requests. We also receive requests from individual, good Samaritans who want to save but can’t afford the medical bills. When we can, we try to help. But sometimes it takes some serious coordinating and assistance from our rescue partners. This is such a case.
Here is Sheldon’s story as brought to our attention from Noel, a 4P1H friend:
“There is one sweet guy that is unaltered and is sick with an infection. His ear is about the size of a golf ball. I feed hm wet and dry but he is still a rack of bones. He is in desperate need of medical care. I would have taken him myself but I just don’t have the money. If there is any way you would be able to help this poor kitty I would be so grateful.
“This cat has a long story. I was walking a friend’s dog 3 yrs. ago when I saw this darling kitten. There was a man near by and I said what a cute kitty. The guy said if you want him take him, I thought he was kidding. However, this is the poor cat I’ve been caring for. He sleeps on my porch in the bad weather and sits on my door mat and waits for me to look out the window in the evening when it’s time for dinner. He is a tame cat, not a feral. He has a beautiful face and a sweet personality. If I could afford to keep him I would but I already have 1 foster failure, 1 rescue, and have taken in two cats off the street. I do the best I can to help but this one I’m just not able to save. But he is worth saving and deserves a better life. Thank you for trying to help, I will appreciate anything your able to do for this sweet boy. Thank you, Noel.”
The rest of the story: Noel agreed to take in this sweetheart as a foster while we would try to find a rescue who could take in Sheldon when they had room. Once again, Tigerlily came through for all of us and will take Sheldon into their rescue as soon as they have a foster available. In the mean time, 4P!H paid to have Sheldon’s ear examined and have Sheldon tested and vaccinated. We will also pay for his ear surgery and neuter which will be scheduled in the near future. We made this commitment a few weeks before Keller came into our lives and funds were put aside to take care of it. We are so happy that we could take one more baby off of the streets and keep others from being born. A huge thank you to Noel and Tigerlily Cat Rescue.
