Cookie Finds the Best Family Ever

I am delighted to report that Cookie found her forever home with a very lovely couple. They have tons of time to spoil her, a 2-acre property on the lake, and a condo in Florida where she will travel with them. Cookie was dumped in a school parking lot several months ago. She had back and neck trauma and she was emaciated. I’ve fostered her since and she is a ball of love. In 3 weeks her new mom and dad will make it official. Prayers do work! Gina

9/4/16 – There is so much tough news lately and so many animals needing our help, I wanted to share this good news. When Heather contacted us, we were happy to increase Ziva’s odds for being adopted by paying for her to be spayed, tested, and vaccinated. Good Luck, sweet Ziva. ~ diana

Knox – Surrendered by His Owners to Save His Life

9/1/16 – Meet Knox. Last weekend we were contacted for help because this 1 yr old dog was brought into an emergency hospital dying from parvo virus. Because donations have been so slow, while demand for our help continues to be high, we had to set a limit on the dollars we could commit. One of the doctors at Advanced Animal Emergency, Dr VanSteenkiste, volunteered to help with any above costs associated with the care. And, after 4 days of aggressive care, Knox made a full recovery! He is now in a wonderful foster home and if it works out with their pets, he will stay forever ♡♡♡♡ A huge thank you to the caring and professional staff who all went beyond the call of duty to save this sweet boy. ~ ginaknox-9116

Frankie – Kept on a 2-Foot Chain inside of a Shed

8/30/16 – Please share; a rescue or permanent home is needed. This past week we received a call for help from a 4 Paws 1 Heart follower who we’ve helped in the past. Here is her message:

“Mrs Diana, a family moved in down the street about two months ago and this is a very well…. let’s just say poor and uneducated family…. well today the little 7 year old comes to my house and says his dog’s gonna die; it needs some food. No one on this block, that I’ve asked knew they had a dog. It was being kept in the shed. Miss Diana, this poor dog is so skinny, I’d estimate him at about 40-60 lbs underweight, his ears are half gone from the flies eating them. I gained possession of the dog…. by God’s grace there was a free doghouse on CRAIGSLIST the minute I looked; it took me 20 mins to get. He was on a 2 foot leash standing in his own feces. I need help. I can’t keep him but I will foster him if you can help with his care. Idk how to treat a dog that looks this bad. He’s safe now in a clean doghouse on a rug in the backyard, he ate half of a huge bowl of food and almost drank the whole bowl of water. I’m going to clean up his ears the best I can now but we are gonna need help to save this baby. I will let him in the house after he gets cleared of disease and fleas… I don’t want to infect my pets.”

As always, we couldn’t turn away this poor boy, now known as Frankie. He was taken to one of our favorite vets, Dr. Steve, of Healthy Paws Veterinary Medical Center, and Frankie was found to be heart worm negative but very emaciated. Frankie received flea and heart worm preventative treatment and will be neutered when he is healthy enough, along with vaccines. He’s scheduled to see the doctor again in two weeks. Lauren, the rescuer, has reported that Frankie is quickly learning from the others in the household and is a real sweetheart craving affection and attention. If anyone can help Lauren with placement, please contact her at [email protected]. Unfortunately, the landlord has given orders that Frankie needs to be gone NOW. ~ diana

Gracie – She Was Being Used for Breeding and Now She is Heart Worm Positive

7/29/16 – Meet Gracie and her sad story as told to us by her rescuer:

“Gracie’s owner was a neighbor of a friend. The neighbor breeds animals and Gracie was about to have her puppies when I met her and she had her puppies on Thanksgiving day. So that’s about how long I’ve known her. She was kept in the back room of the house or on the chain outside. She was fed but that was the extent to her time with people basically. She was around a smaller dog pretty much all her life so she’s very good with all dogs. She is very submissive with a sweet personality. She gets along with cats as well. She’s just an honest to God sweheart. Even while driving she was just gazing into my eyes trying to lick me and inch over as close as she could to my lap. She doesn’t want to stop being touched and paid attention to. She’s just the sweetest girl. Fortunately, the owner was finished with using Gracie so he surrendered her to me. I took Gracie to the vet and found someone who would take her in and care for her until a permanent home could be found, but, unfortunately, it was discovered that Gracie is heart worm positive.”

Although donations have been slow as I earlier reported and the demand has, obviously, been very high, we know that we have a couple of fundraisers coming up and we couldn’t turn Gracie away. This very sweet girl deserves a better life and 4 Paws 1 Heart would like to play a role in that. So, we will be paying for Gracie’s treatment with prayers that she will one day be healthy and loved and no longer used. ~ dianaGracie 7:29:16

Max – Several Times He Was Almost Hit By Cars

8/23/16 – Once again we were able to help in another case where the rescuer had worked with 4 Paws 1 Heart on another lost soul who was saved. This time, the rescue is this handsome dog who was running in the middle of the street. Several times he was almost hit by a car. The rescuer clapped his hands and Max came running towards him. Max immediately fit into the home with the other rescue dog and we were happy to pay for Max to be examined, vaccinated, heart worm tested, and neutered. Max also has a skin condition whereby some of his fur is falling off. We know that Max will have a loving and safe life with his new dad and we are confident that with medical treatment, his fur will be back to normal. ~ dianaMax w:matt bahr 8:20:16
