HOARDED DOGS – IT TAKES A VILLAGE

10/29/21 – It definitely takes a village. I was recently contact by Furget Me Never Rescue in regards to 13 dogs who were surrendered to them from a hoarding situation. All of the dogs needed heart worm tests, vaccines, and spay/neuter; many were malnourished. We could not afford to take on the needs of all 13 dogs but with the help of All About Animals-Flint, 4 Paws 1 Heart teamed up with CARE and Furget Me Never Rescue, and covered the vaccines and heart worm tests; CARE and the Rescue covered the spays/neuters and any additional medical needed. At this time 8 of the 13 are in foster homes. Hopefully, all of the dogs will eventually find their furever loving homes. – diana4paws1heart.org/donations/

ONYX – Found With an Injured Tail and a Swollen Lymph Node

10/26/21 – Onyx – He’s a black stray that was hanging around the rescuer’s house a few months back. Eventually, just a couple weeks ago, the rescuer was able to get him inside. However, he noticed that he had injured his tail from a fall or a possible attack. Sometimes it would bleed or appear infected. Onyx didn’t always seem bothered or in pain by it but would still lick it often. Now, the underside is discolored, and the bone appears to be sticking out. The rescuer has noticed blood on the floor since he was able to get him in the house and contacted us for help.Yesterday Onyx was able to see one of our partner vets who noticed that Onyx had developed a swollen area on his right cheek which turned out to be a swollen lymph node that will be drained. Onyx was kept overnight and is having surgery today. Prayers for this very sweet guy who will no longer be running the streets. – Diana.4paws1heart.org/donations/Your donations save lives!!

ROXIE – Passed from Breeder to Breeder

Meet Roxie. This sweet girl was passed from one breeder to the next. She had an emergency c section and lost 13 puppies one by one over a 9 day period. It’s disgusting what people do to animals in order to try and make a buck. 4 paws 1 heart was able to squeeze Roxie in for medical care over at Moore Veterinary Hospital. She was fully checked out by our awesome Dr. Burcham and she’ll be monitored close for her anemia, hookworms, and her incision that was covered in chunks of dirt and hair . Good news is she tested negative for heart worm. What Roxie went through is unfair. She will eventually need her vaccines and spay surgery, and of course a safe loving forever home. Roxie is an absolute sweetheart. Let me know if interested and I’ll put you in touch with the rescuer.. Gina

ICHAGO, NASHI, MOMO, FRED, GEORGE, SAKU – Born in a Colony of Numerous Cats

10/25/21 – These six kittens were all born in a colony of 13-20 cats. The finder asked for help having them tested, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and treated for parasites so that she could bring them inside and find them homes. We were happy to cover their medical costs while she works on trapping the ‘feral’ adults. I introduce you to Ichago, Nashi, Momo, Fred, George, and Saku. – diana.4paws1heart.org/donations/

CHILI, CUMIN, AND CHUTNEY – Rescued With Upper Respiratory Infections

10/25/21 – Meet Chili, Cumin, and Chutney. This past summer we were contacted by Rebecca who moved into a home where (unbeknownst to her) there was a 13-cat colony. Due to the pandemic, appointments for sterilization were delayed and some of the cats also refused to be trapped so, unfortunately, two litters “popped up”. Rebecca successfully TNR’d 9 of the adults but needed help with the kittens. Three of them, at 5 weeks old, were Chili, Cumin and Chutney who had what appeared to be upper respiratory infections. We approved their visit to a partner vet and they were all treated for upper respiratory infections. Cumin also had what the doctor said was a horsefly larvae imbedded in his chest and that was removed. Rebecca was to cover the cost of everyone to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated. – diana.4paws1heart.org/donations/1,216People reached81EngagementsBoost post

MARNITH – Rest In Peace

10/24/21 – RIP Sweet Marnith. Her mom, barely a kitten herself and pregnant, was left in a carrier outside of a pet supply store. A rescuer took her in and the mom gave birth the very next day. The rescuer had no experience with new moms and babies and she called our friend, Patricia. Two weeks later, after one kitten passed away, another became very sick. Patricia advised her and the rescuer continued to struggle another two weeks before she realized that she just couldn’t properly care for the family. And, although Patricia has more than her share of kitties to care for, she stepped in and took the remaining babies hoping to make them healthy. Unfortunately, another passed away and Marnith also took ill. This is when 4 paws 1 heart was asked to help. But, unfortunately, it was too late. Marnith was tested for panleukopenia which is a very contagious viral disease most often attacking kittens. Typically it is deadly. There is one remaining kitten who tested negative and is being kept separate and being watched closely. Please remember this little family and Patricia (as well as the many rescuers to devote their lives to the stray and abused) in your prayers. – diana4paws1heart.org/donations/

ZENA – She Was Being Starved by Her Owners

10/20/21 – Zena was rescued by Streethearts Animal Rescue, a rescue who typically works the streets of Flint saving dogs who have been abandoned and, too often, abused. Zena is one of those dogs. She was being starved by her owners and when rescued she was very emaciated and lethargic. She was in the hospital for about 4 days and is now in a foster home slowly eating, gaining some strength, and learning to trust humans. We were happy to help our friends with her very large medical bill. – diana4paws1heart.org/donations/

WREN – REST IN PEACE

10/19/21 – RIP Sweet Wren – A good friend of 4p1h rescued Wren and her littermate one month ago yet she only weighed 7 oz. I was contacted today because Wren had what appeared to be a severe upper respiratory infection — she couldn’t eat and was very congested. One of our favorite doctors took her in almost immediately and determined that Wren had pneumonia and it was far too severe for her to recover. She was humanely euthanized. Wishing God’s blessings on Patricia, her rescuer, and the many amazing people who continue to rescue even though they are often faced with such heartbreak. – diana4paws1heart.org/donations/

10/14/21 – Leo had his dental surgery yesterday and we are praying that this little guy can once again eat without pain and start gaining weight. I was first contacted about Leo and his sister Callie after we had helped his sibling, Tiger, who unfortunately died. Here is Shannon’s first message to me:”Hi Diana, This is Shannon again, you helped me with Tiger and these 2 are Leo and Callie they are his siblings.. I know I mentioned them awhile back to you but real quick just to give you a quick recap of their story. The 3 of them, these 2 and brother Tiger, who we recently lost to cancer, were feral cats who I was feeding In Birmingham. They were fixed, etc. and I started getting complaints from these idiot business owners that didn’t want them there. During COVID someone killed a random cat and placed it in a garbage bag next to their feeding station. During that time I was trying to trap Tiger; I knew he was not well and was hoping to find somewhere to possibly relocate his siblings if possible. They ended up going into the traps before him so I decided to take that opportunity and get them out of there. Well, as I’m sure you know it isn’t very easy to find a place for them to go and I haven’t gotten very far with them as in domesticating them. They are inside they have been in my master bedroom and since they were spayed and neutered a few yrs ago, they haven’t been back to the vet. I’m reaching out because I need to get them into the vet. I’m really worried especially about Leo you can see his mouth doesn’t look good and he smells awful. They are barely eating and she has a missing tooth. This is recent I have been caring for them for sometime now and other than obviously not being thrilled being inside they still always would eat and show their faces. Now they are barely coming out and eating very little. I know you’ve helped me a lot, so I hate to ask but now I’m so worried. I have to wash his blankets every other day. At first he got pretty chubby and I’ve noticed that’s he’s losing the weight. I’m concerned he has the same issues his brother did and she’s not too far behind him. If there’s anyway you can help these two maybe even if he could go first if that helps. Whatever you can do sorry again to have to ask. – Shannon”Leo’s mouth was highly infected and all of his teeth needed to be extracted which was done yesterday. He is now on antibiotics and should be on the road to recovery. This type of surgery is needed far too often and is very expensive. Most cats requiring such extensive dental care would quickly be put down. Hopefully, we will be successful with our Sunday (October 17-see events) fundraiser and can then assist with Callie. Donations of any amount are always very much appreciated. – diana.4paws1heart.org/donations/1,093People reached57EngagementsBoost post
