Sneakies Made the Right Move Following McKenzie

6/17/24 – Sneakies made the right move when he decided to follow McKenzie for over one mile.

Sneakies is a beautiful young male cat that randomly appeared in her neighborhood and ended up following her for over a mile while she was on a walk. He seemed pretty desperate for human contact. McKenzie thinks he might have been dumped. She attempted to find his owner without any luck; there was no microchip.

McKenzie asked if we could help with his testing, neuter, and vaccines. Authorization was give for Sneakies to be treated at one of our favorite veterinary partners, Five Mile Animal Hospital, with Dr. Mina. – diana

Please Keep Wendy in Your Prayers

6/17/24 – Please keep Wendy in your prayers. Although donations are still understandably slow, we couldn’t refuse to help this poor stray who showed up in a family’s barn after being shot in the leg.

The kind couple took her to a vet where it was determined that her bone was shattered by the bullet. The doctor recommended amputation. We were contacted for help in that the couple could not afford the surgery but guaranteed that if we could help, Wendy would be forever inside.

Wendy is now scheduled for surgery at one of our partner veterinary clinics, West Flint Animal Hospital. – diana

Happy Update for Tiger

6/12/24 – Happy Update. It was in mid January, 2024 when we were contacted about a stray cat who wasn’t putting weight on one of his legs. The person contacting us had been feeding the cat since summer.

Tiger was seen by Dr. Mina, Five Mile Animal Hospital, who determined Tiger had a severe abscess on his leg. His rescuer, Nina, was to try and find a home for Tiger but —- guess what? Her boyfriend fell in love.

Yesterday she sent me this photo and said that Tiger is “doing amazing”. – – Your donations save lives and brings a special kind of happiness to homes. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/

George with Streethearts Animal Rescue

6/10/24 – We were happy to help George with some of the cost of the MRI.

Here’s his story: George was at the Genesee County Animal Control and is now with Streethearts Animal Rescue. He was diagnosed with possible Lumber IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) while he was at the shelter. No one knows what happened..

He is was seen at DOGWOOD NEUROLOGY on Saturday for a consult and possible help. Unfortunately MR’sI are not inexpensive so we were thankful to help.

George’s MRI showed a swelling that could be trauma related, infection, or a cyst on his spinal cord. Surgery is not recommended at this time. George is being medically treated with steroids, antibiotics, and crate rest. Please continue to pray for George to completely recover.

If you want to follow George’s journey, please check out the Streethearts Animal Rescue facebook page. – diana

Rest in heaven sweet Peanut

About 14 years ago a kind man rushed a lifeless puppy into the animal emergency where I was working at the time. He said he’d taken the pup away from his relative who was neglecting and starving the pup to death. He surrendered his critical little body to me and we named him Peanut.

After 2 weeks of hospitalization, I took him home to continue the supportive care. He was so severely malnourished he could not swallow, open his eyes, or stand.

After weeks/months Peanut thrived. He was socialized by my furry crew, and he became strong, healthy and ready for adoption. Mary, who was the perfect mommy for Peanut, immediately fell in love and adopted him.

She took Peanut everywhere and gave him the best life. He traveled, boated, sunbathed, ate good, and was showered with unconditional love, kindness, support, and trust. Mary kept me in the picture all these years and last week she called to tell me he was declining.

Dave and I were scheduled to visit tomorrow and say goodbye, but he was ready to go home before that. My heart is full knowing the love and life Peanut lived. Several angels surrounded him in the beginning and I’m sure my Angel, Sugar, and Lucy were all there this past Thursday to welcome him home.

Thank you 4 Paws 1 Heart for covering his medical and Mary for giving him an amazing life. I could not ask for more.. Gina

Handsome Boy, Giannis

6/7/24 – This handsome boy, Giannis, was found in early February wandering near the rescuer’s Hamtramck, MI home. As you can see, Giannis was thin but seemed in otherwise good health. He was taken to our great partner veterinary clinic Five Mile Animal Hospital where he was neutered, vaccinated, and tested (thankfully negative).

The other day I followed up to see how Giannis was doing. Martha, his rescuer and now mom, said that Giannis is doing great and and adjusting well to living the good life in a home. He’s playing with toys and appears very comfortable with his new life.

To quote Martha — Giannis has been a great addition to my life”. – diana

Callie and Her Babies

6/5/24 – Callie and her babies were rescued from very terrible conditions.

Callie was immediately taken to a vet to be examined, treated for fleas and parasites and scheduled to be spayed. Her babies were taken in for exams but are too young for spay/neuter/vaccines.

Ferndale Cat Shelter (rescue) will take in the kittens and we have offered to help with their medical if needed. Callie will be cared for by the rescuer. – diana https://4paws1heart.org/donations/

ANOTHER HAPPY UPDATE (SHARIF)

6/3/24 – Regarding a stray dog who was rescued with many issues, which included fleas, mange, an ear infection, heart worm, and neuter. 4 Paws 1 Heart was there for Sharif (Protector) throughout his medical needs. We love these happy beginnings!! – diana

“Hello Diana!

I just wanted to give you an update on Sharif. Your organization assisted him when he was a stray in October 2021. I ended up keeping him. The picture of him in the tire was when I brought him in and contacted you all. He’s absolutely spoiled. I just wanted to say thank you for helping him. He likes sitting on the porch and people watch. Playing with his Kong toys and walks. He’s not very fond of baths as you can see his face in when he’s in his robe – Ashaki”

SMUDGE

6/3/24 – On January 19, 2024 I posted the story of Smudge (search our website for the post). In short, Smudge was rescued from under a mobile home in a park overwhelmed with cats left behind. Smudge’s rescuer, Melissa, had earlier rescued others, some of whom we helped with medical. Smudge was about 8 weeks old when rescued and was first taken in quickly to get proper vaccinations and an exam. She was later scheduled to have everything else completed at Patterson Veterinary Hospital. But, between the time of her rescue and spay appointment, Smudge got very sick with an upper respiratory infection and suffered high fevers. After a few vet visits and medication, Smudge was finally ready for her spay and updated vaccinations. Here is an update from Smudge’s rescuer:

“Smudge had her spay surgery. Patterson Veterinary did such a great job I can’t even tell she had surgery at all (besides the shaved tummy lol). I have a 15 year old senior cat I rescued under a mobile home years ago, and a 4 year old cat I rescued from a garage with 6 others. Smudge has grown on our 4 year old. Giving him company and a friend. I couldn’t bare to take Smudge from him, sooo she has a permanent and loving home with us, we decided to keep her. I want to thank 4paws 1 heart for everything they’ve done and continue to do to help these babies.-Melissa”

The first photos were taken while Smudge was being treated and the last are from this past Friday. – diana
