Scam Alert Update – “Four Paws” Alleged Worldwide Organization
5/27/15 Update on potential scam alert from St. Clair Shores Councilwoman, Candice Rusie:
“4 Paws 1 Heart – City Clerk Mary Kotowski responded back that this other Four Paws group did not apply for or get a solicitation permit in SCS. If anyone knows exactly what group this was (like if you received written info from them), let me know so we can have the City Clerk contact them regarding our permit requirements. If anyone gets them on their porch again and they do not have a permit, please call police non-emergency ((586) 777-6700) – people seeking to get money or sell something need a permit in St. Clair Shores so we know who is going door to door looking for cash or to conduct a business transaction. (Just to spread information re something like politics or religion is an exception.) If there is a car available, an officer will ticket them and make them stop soliciting until a permit is obtained.”
Sugar and Dixie – Still Together, Loving the Love
5/27/15 – A Happy Update from Gina! “Do you remember Dixie and Sugar? They were one of our very early cases. Two sister puppies found behind trash cans at Chandler Park, Detroit, MI. One had a broken leg and the other wouldn’t leave her side. They were bonded and inseparable. We provided medical care and soon afterwards a wonderful forever home was found. The best news is they were adopted as a pair. Here they are almost five years later and my heart melts with this kind of ending!
These are the stories are that keep me alive! Gina

BIRDIE – Unfortunately, They Can’t All Be Saved
5/26/15 – After 3 weeks of around the clock care I lost my birdie today. I’m not sure why he died, but it hurts my heart.. He was doing great and I was trying to get him eating on his own, so he could be released any day now.. A few days ago he wasn’t himself, so I contacted a veterinarian friend that specializes in birds. We tried vitamins, antibiotics, and a couple other things, but I found him on the bottom of his cage a little while ago. He felt like he had just passed away… It never becomes any less painful.~ gina

When Trooper is fully recovered, we will make sure he is neutered and Brian will find him his forever home.
